  1. I always use a trailer on my spinner bait, but trailer less on my buzz baits. I’ve experimented with various plastics over the years. My first trailer was a twister single tail grub. I even used the hula grubs inplace of skirts, very low friction. Now I like split tail trailers that are made of elaztech plastic. They float and kick like nothing else.
  2. 10 4, I’ll research those also guy’s. Any worth in the new camo lines I’ve been seeing advertised. They say the fish can’t make it out, do you feel it maybe productive as fluorocarbon?
  3. Thanks Tom, I’ll research Kevlar/Spectra.
  4. My avid and stratic went overboard 3yrs. Ago in 10 ft. of water. Spent an hour or so fishing it out using a Spro Aruku 85.
  5. Been in a cave for about a year I guess, wondering if any new tech. lines are out there. Someone told me about research going on about floro-braid technology happening,I haven’t googled that yet. I’ve been using fire line and power/pro spectra for the last 4yrs. Or so. Not any serious problems with them it is what it is, knotting now and then. I’m only using spinning gear now, not going into why on this thread. I also use Seaguar abrazx/invizx for leaders. So just looking for better alternatives.
  6. Great nostalgic question, a Strike King 3/8 oz. white, short arm spinner bait with a Crome Colorado blade. A friend took me to the Patuxent River in Maryland and introduced me to slow rolling a spinner bait in fallen timber. I still have the Berkley 5 1/2 ft. Pistol grip Lightning rod, but lost the ambassador 4600 reel. I was hooked for ever after that trip. Still use the spinner bait regularly in different configurations, and still my favorite bait.
  7. Z man jerk shad, small wire hook to float the jerk shad. Let the fish deside how they want it.
  8. Cheap lures I don't mine losing and a LCP.
  9. Fishing virgin water, sells lots of lures. I love Bill, he's an amazing angler, what a legend in our sport.
  10. Myradar is good for storms approaching my boat on the water.
  11. I'll just use a spinner bait instead.
  12. The skip gap hook for me with flukes, is a little lite and will bend often, but hasn't hurt me yet. I like the lite skip gap hook in the z-man jerk shad, when I want the shad to float.
  13. My definition of fishing from a kayak is: The ability to reach productive area's that you normally couldn't get to by other means "only". For this requirement, I use a pick-up and a feelfree lure 10. Otherwise I will be fishing from a square back canoe or bass boat period !!
  14. If you want to learn artificial, stop using live bait for awhile for freshwater bass fishing. Read what you can on the topic and begin to master the what and when for artificial lures. I've been doing it for 35 years and I'm still learning. I probably love this sport because its a never ending challenge.
  15. When I'm bank fishing I like to wade or use a small kayak, when I feel the need to reach more productive area's. I love to find an area of a river that I can wade fish for smallmouth.
  16. Work it for fisherman who dreams to retire some day, to fish when and where ever he wants to. That will be me real soon.
  17. Fire line; color- smoke.

  19. C-rig/mojo for deep, most flat structure. Texas and jigs for deep sloping structures
  20. I love the xcalibur lipless cranks, bought them in bulk in colors: rayburn red and royal red from DSG a few years ago on sale, I still have three or four in each color. Maybe I'll sell them on ebay, no way, there to valuable.
  21. Bought a couple of the square bill's, found them on sale at DSG. buy one get the second one free.

I like the dark color junebug for my shaky head and mojo rig presentations.
  23. I've always held a lot of respect for 3" Yum dingers, and they are cheaper than the Senko's brand. For me the best way to rig them is weightless, with a texas style presentation. Fishing smallmouth I like to add 1/16 to 1/8 oz. of weight for the river current. Cotton candy use to be my favorite collar, and you would be hard pressed to find them now. I did buy balk years ago, and still use them for fun fishing or numbers.
  24. Instead of tying a knot, use the smallest spro swivel between the braid and fluorocarbon. Great on spinning gear, eliminating most of the line twist.
