  1. 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and looking to get some 1/2 oz for carolina rigs.
  2. Use sharper and thinner wire hooks. If you have to use thicker gauge hooks try line with less stretch or use stronger mono to get a stronger hookset. I cant tell how many times I missed a fish because my hook was too big, to thick, and too dull and my line did not basically match the diameter of the wire. There was a time when I didnt catch a fish all week and had many spit the hook. You might also want to trim the weed guard for the jigs and for the craws try a wide gap hook because theres a lot of plastic you need to go through to get a good hookset. Hope this helps
  3. My biggest were before and just after sunset. I decided to create a log this year to keep track and I hope it helps put more fish in the boat ;D
  4. I dont care how cold it is, once the ice comes off im goin out!
  5. I have always used lefty reels. I dont have to switch hands and its comfortable for me.
  6. When do you think there will be a big push for items like this and do you think companies will adapt to the conditions fast enough to stay in business? Also do you think brands like Gulp and Tru-Tungsten will draw more consumers as laws prohibit plastics and lead?
  7. My dad taught me how to flyfish when i was 12 and i am still using the old rods he used as a kid and they work fine. I think the setup looks good just try it out and after you get proficient at casting im sure you'll be hooked for life
  8. the scale starts with larger numbers like 12 which would be small hooks mostly for trout flies then as you move up to 2's then 1's you cross over to the designation of \0 called O or aught. So its sort of like crossing from negative numbers to postive 1\0 is bigger than a number 1 but 2\0 is bigger than a 1\0 and like nwflmike said those sizes vary among manufacturers so just find a size a hook you like and that works for you Hope this helps
  9. If you already bought them, I would suggest a texas rig or a wacky rig. No sense in wasting money to use a cat turd as bait ;D
  10. the bait monkey will be on you soon dont worry
  11. I just tie a rubberband above the slip sinker. Keeps it in place but moves up the line when you set the hook so theres no extra weight for the fish to throw around.
  12. it all depends on the thickness of the bait not the length (unless its tubes) so just find one that has a gap big enough for the bait
  13. Do you mean the Ultra Vibe Speed Worm?
  14. x2. I caught a 4lb LM doin that
  15. I would put this in the fishing rods, reels and line forum
  16. Nice fish I love Zoom soft plastics! Only another month and a half or so til I get to go fishing again :'(
  17. Scroll down to the jigs and worms section I think you'll find what you need. http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/bass_fishing_rods.html
  18. Good point with the senko. What were the conditions when you caught those smallies?
  19. If you think about it most of the chartreuse baits people throw are reaction baits like spinnerbaits or cranks. Those are fast moving and the bass dont usually get a good look at them. The chartreuse seems to give off that brightness which bass hone in on. Thats why chartreuse is productive IMO.
  20. Looks like I'll give it a try. Thanks
  21. I was looking at the 6'10" MH and I wanted to use it for lighter plastics too and since it says finesse jig and worm rod I think this is the right choice. Thanks!
  22. I take all of my soft plastics in their original bags and put them in a big ziploc freezer bag and take my boxes with hooks and sinkers and hard baits and put all that in a backpack. Then I break down my spinning rod and put that in the backpack so i only have to carry my baitcaster. Then I hop on my bike and its time to go fishing!
  23. I've heard that the bucoos rod power is not rated correctly so that a MH is actually a M. I was looking at the 6'6" for cranking is shallow to medium depth and also to use topwaters like poppers or walking baits. If anyone has one any info would be appreciated.
