  1. Same I was just always better with lefty reels
  2. I threw a t-rig today because we had a front move through. The fish where positioned on laydowns in shallow water and I was casting to the branches. Got a couple decent two pounders. The jig wasn't coming through the cover well and I was getting hung up so the t-rigs smaller profile and weedless hook saved the day for me!
  3. Baby Brush hog works for me
  4. Thanks a lot everybody! I dont really use braid but its nice to know that it wont damage the guides. Maybe I should go out and get some braid though
  5. Im in the same boat I just started fishing jigs too and I have to say I love them. Got a two and a pounder the other day and it really boosted my confidence. Its those snags that are killing me though. Seems like everytime I fish around wood I get a bite and Im snagged. Luckily I go in after my lures!
  6. I just got an ugly stick because I wanted a more durable rod. I don't mind the weight and the sensitivity is fine for me. I was wondering if it was compatible with braid though.
  7. Jerkbaiting, Spinnerbaiting, Jigging and Texas rigging. Havent done too much in the way of topwater but we'll see.
  8. My lake is only about 6'-8' average but we do have grass and pads ;D
  9. I use both the Xr50 and the Rat-L trap and I have caught fish on both. Fish whatever your preference or fish both and see what you like. Recommendations only go so far, you have to test it for yourself
  10. Someone put a picture of the straight shank hook rigged with a toothpick on here please
  11. Broke my rod tip the other day and wanted to put a new tip top on. Would they be able to do this?
  12. Maybe instead of fishing the shallow flats move out to where the transition to deep water starts. The fish may not be ready to move up shallow yet. If the water is murky try a gold colorado bladed spinnerbait with a black skirt. The jig was a good idea but put some rattles on it so that they can hear it because in that murky water they hear things a lot further away then they can see them. Hope this helps
  13. first jerkbait I ever fished and I nailed them on it
  14. I was fishing a jig the other day in a clear rocky lake and I only got one hit where i could feel the tap tap. I hooked him but he got off less then five feet away from me :'( I think most times the machine gun hits or the times when you feel the taps but you set the hook only to have the lure come flying at you are bluegills. They just cant resist bitin the tails of baits.
  15. Variations of Green pumpkin, Watermelon, Black and White are definitely my main ones
  16. Maybe a fluke or a hard jerbait like an rapala original floater
  17. Jitterbug and a popper
  18. Ich sehe deine Deutsche Grammatik ist in Ordnung
  19. Nothing beats the sight of a fish zooming in from 10 feet away to engulf my jerkbait
  20. I lost a Rat-L trap due to a line breakage. It seemed like that thing was up in the air for 3 seconds and I didnt know where it was until I saw the splash. I also snagged a husky jerk in firetiger that I bought the day before. I think Im still gonna go in after that one
  21. I almost forgot recently I was using a slightly older rod that was a two piece spinning outfit where the top piece would not fit snuggly into the bottom and the screw to keep the reel on the reel handle was stripped. So one day I decided to use it to practice skipping. It was going well until one cast where the top piece went flying off and the reel fell of simultaneously It was pretty cold out and my hands were already frozen so handling a wet rod and reel was not too fun. So with some electrical tape and plumbers tape later I was able to go fishing again ;D
  22. I used to t-rig a trick worm with a 6/0 hook and I would leave it all twisted instead of straight. Funny thing is I still caught fish but didnt know why I was missing so many. I also put twenty pound mono on a spinning reel and didnt know why I couldnt cast that far
  23. Wait until you feel the weight of the fish then set the hook. If the hook is sharp enough you shouldnt have anymore problems.
