  1. I just got some pointers but im still going to get some thundersticks because I like the fact that they float which can help in certain applications
  2. I like the terminatoresque answer but how is it there I was thinking of applying
  3. So I'm assuming you work at Dicks then
  4. Yea what website would that be JDK and did they actually reprice them Dan?
  5. I picked up a pointer 78 and a 100 at dicks yesterday for 12.99 each. It may not be much cheaper but hey I saved $4!
  6. I like to throw jerkbaits on a baitcaster if I can but if its too light weight I usually use a spinning outfit since it can deal with light baits and I guess if you needed to get it down really deep you could use a spinning outfit since it can accomodate a smaller lb test
  7. I know jerkbaiting and crankin are a little different and I expected that kind of answer but Im just tryin to find a setup that would be good for both since Im on a budget thanks though
  8. I was wondering if the 6'6" Med Bucoo would be good as a jerkbaiting rod in addition to cranking and treble hook applications. Thanks.

Ive had good luck with the Bomber square A's and Mann's Baby 1 Minus even though it may not have the best paint job it worked fine for me. I was also lookin to get some Norman Square Billed Wakers because Im always lookin to crank over the grass flats. Hope this helps!
  10. Ive had mosquitos and gnats buzzing around my ears and head and believe me that would make anyone want to leave their fishin spot and get a fly swatter but I eventually tuned them out and caught 22 fish in three hours in that same spot so concentration and a little luck can make all the difference sometimes
  11. Even if Reese did have a strike king crank tied on he was mostly flippin shallow timber so who knows if he even used it
  12. Thanks for all the info guys! The only dilemma I have about getting the Bucoo is that I dont want it shipped because Ive already had a rod break on me and the nearest store that offers it that I know of is Cabelas but its almost 3 hours away!
  13. The lure weight rating for this rod is 3/8-1oz but I was wondering if I could use a 1/4oz weight with it also. I was also looking at the Bucoo which is rated for 1/4oz lures. Tell me what you think of each and if the Mojo would be able to throw a 1/4oz weight. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for all the info the last few fish I caught have had the hook in the top lip like theyre supposed to and I made sure that I reeled down the slack. I was also standing ten or so feet up from the water and I couldnt feel the bite I could only see my line move. Thanks again for all the info and I think I might give the debarbed hooks a try
  15. I have fished the past couple weeks with a trickworm rigged weedless with no weight. Each time I get a bite I always catch the fish only to find it gut hooked. I have read the article on removing gut hooked fish and it has saved many bass I've caught not to mention my hooks! I think it may be that I don't reel down all the slack before I set the hook because I am letting the worm drop horizontally on very slack line. Any info on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated as I hate hurting such beautiful creatures.
  16. Today was cloudy and I decided to fish the upper section of my lake which is a shallow flat ranging from 2-5 ft deep with submerged vegetation. I was was having good success on a silver floating rapala with the black back but I was catching too many pickerel. Besides a spinnerbait, a fluke or a crankbait what other kinds of search lures would work well?
  17. I bought a few square A's from Dick's a couple months ago and didnt get around to using them until today. I gotta say they did very well but my sexy shad colored one's bill broke. I was just wondering if the bills can be easily broken or if it was just a defective unit. Thanks.
  18. I have dealt with this a few times in my life mostly when I was young. I do not like to kill fish but after awhile it kind of takes a back seat and I don't think about it as much although I felt terrible at the time. You should keep on the circle of life aspect of it. But hey sometimes bad stuff just happens.
  19. He's with the Holy Diver now
  20. The fish probably moved on you as that sounds like the beginning of a coldfront my friend
  21. Just like anything else in fishing you have to experiment. You may think you know what lure the fish are biting but if that doesnt work you tie on another and another if necessary. The same applies with color. We may have some general rules about what colors to fish when, but we have to let the fish dictate what we use and not what we think they should be hitting. The rules given on this post are all good and they may guide you but sometimes the fish just plain act weird and may want something way outside of the convetional wisdom. But hey if bass fishing was easy everyone would do it and it probably wouldnt be as exciting as it is to us. Good luck and Good fishin!
  22. If its a cloudy day or murky water then solid purple is probably best. With sunny days or clear water, clear purple would be better because it's more transluscent and does not look as unnatural as a solid colored bait would. Also color drops out in proportion to the amount of light reaching a certain depth. Red is the first color to drop out but may drop out deeper in clear water than in murky water because the light does not penetrate as deeply in the murky water.
  23. Anything with a lot of vibration and sound. Black or chartreuse spinnerbaits with colorado blades have good constrasting colors and throw off a lot of vibration in the water. Chatter baits would also work as well as jigs with rattles. Bulky baits work well because the fish need to be able to see the lure. Other than that maybe a buzzbait to annoy them into striking or bright crankbaits with rattle chambers. Hope this helps!
  24. Get the spot removers and see if you like them. I like them but not around rocks or wood you'll get snagged to easily. Very easy hookset though.
  25. I go to school in new hampshire and I did very well today catching them on a storm pro paddle tail with the interchangable weighted hook system. I used the 3" version and they couldnt get enough. Just keep experimenting and you'll figure it out
