  1. Thanks Scorch. I live in Maine. Practicing with Destin DeMarion if all goes well.
  2. Co angler fishing 5th bassmaster open looking for an open seat for practice with another competitor. Will pay for gas. Please contact Steve at williams67811@roadrunner.com 207-263-7687 Thanks.
  3. I've fished Bassmaster Opens as a co-angler 3 times on Champlain and this will be my second time at Oneida. Landing nets have always been allowed in the Opens. Searched the internet and could not find the answer to this question. Went back to bassmaster.com and looked at all pictures and video of the first Open on Toho and no shots of the co-angler running for the net when the pro sets the hook. Saw a video of an Elite guy on Toho that I fished with Day 1 on Oneida two years ago and remembered that I still have his cell phone number. Sent him at text and surprisingly he answered, "Correct. No nets." Kind of sketchy of BASS to change the rules without making it public. Maybe they thought less people would sign up if they knew they can't use nets. I think this new rule will be horrible for the fish. Some people will be playing trophy fish to total exhaustion so they can get them in the boat.
  4. Just got my packet for Oneida Lake. Fishing again as co-angler. Rules are a little different. #7. Tackle and equipment Use of dip nets and grippers for landing bass is prohibited during completion. Trying find out if that means no nets at all or what? Seems like I would have heard of this rules change before this.
  5. Cost me $425 to sign up to fish as co-angler at the Oneida Open next week. Still looking for a practice partner w/ boat. Willing to pay $100 per day for gas/oil. Will still save money if I don't have to haul my boat 600 miles each way. williams67811@roadrunner.com
  6. Pretty sure that was Brandon Card on the Sabine River

I'm looking for a boater that's fishing the 2013 BPS Open on Oneida (Aug1,2,3). Will pay for gas if I can practice with you. I fished the last two Opens on Lake Champlain as co-angler, and fish 20+ club tournaments per year out of my Pheonix 819. I know it's early, but I like having a plan! williams67811@roadrunner.com
  8. Yes this is a great site, and Maine is a great place to live and fish! Except for the time of torture, waiting for the ice to thaw. I'm way over here in Washington county. Long, long ways from so. maine.
  9. Thanks to all for the welcome aboard messages. Lost my Quantum PT Energy reel w/ St. Croix rod overboard last fall. Need a new dropshot setup before spring. What do some of you guys use?
  10. Anyone on here fishing this Open? Looking for Pro or co-angler with boat to practice with, will pay for gas. I know it's early, but had no luck finding partner last year. I fished with Eric Sertl on Day One and Charlie Hartley on Day Two in the '09 event.
  11. Hello Everyone. This is a great site! I belong to an independant bass club called The Maine Blade Runners. We fish over a dozen tournaments a year, chasing both largemouth and smallies. I've been at it for several years but still consider myself a rookie. I compete with some awesome fishermen. Just when I start to think I'm getting good, the fish teach me how much I still don't know. I think about bass fishing every day, even through our long deep freeze up here. Fished my first BIG event as co-angler at the Bassmaster Open on Lake Champlain last year. Going back in July!

  13. Registration for one or two tournaments opened Dec 1. Call 1-877-USABASS. must be BASS member. No online reg. this year. $100 deposit, $200 later. I fished my first open at Champlain last year. I signed up late and still got in. Day 2 (my 50th bday) got to fish w/ Charlie Hartley. Boat was broke, we could only idle, but I still had a Blast! Signed up to go again in 2010, waiting for confirmation via snail mail. Any questions, let me know. Good Luck!
