  1. Thanks. More importantly than distance (to me) is accuracy. I am able to cast with less effort, which I believe gives me better control & accuracy Yes. I have one Fuego mounted on an Avid 6'6" M/F rod and I'm able to cast 3" senko's and other unweighted plastics quite well. The spool with quality bearings is a major factor. The reel now pitches much better too. I have another Fuego on an Avid 7" MH/F 40# Power Pro. Truth be told, I used their "vermillion" colored line because it matched the reel : And yes, my fishing Bud's keep busting my chops about it ;D On a side note, I could've bought myself a Steez for all the money I "invested" in this reel It was a fun project. I got these reels from TW when they were on clearance, and then bought them with another 10% and 20% off. The Fuego is a great reel right out of the box 8-)
  2. The 90mm aluminum swept 4 bearing handle from the HSTA fits the Fuego nicely. H20-6801 - Handle - $50.50 040-3206 - Handle Nut Plate, Red - $3.60 G70-3304 - Handle nut, LH 353-8301 - Handle Nut Plate Screw - $0.75 I re-worked the factory drag star to mate up with the swept handle. Here's some pics, There are many other Daiwa handles that work as well. You'll need to search through the schematics to find the part numbers. You can also get aftermarket handles from ZPI and Bassart. Brooklyn Bill's has them, as well as Japan Tackle and PLAT. My Fuego's also have SmoothDrag Carbontex drag washers, Boca Hybrid spool bearings and Daiwa/I'ZE HLC (hyper long cast)) spools and a bearing was added to the worm drive The HLC spool is on the right. It is lighter than the stock spool, but pricey http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/default.php http://www.japantackle.com/ http://www.brooklynbillstackleshop.com/ http://www.smoothdrag.com/ http://www.bocabearings.com/
  3. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you. : I haven't been around here that long myself, but I'm yet to find ANYONE who has sold their Revo's, Citica's or Curado's and bought Pro Qualifier's instead, for whatever that's worth
  4. I've noticed you've been a member for 2 days. If you take a little time and do a search, you'll find page after page of talk about BPS rods & reels. Also if all you've fished are BPS reels, how can you make a statement like that? Diversity makes life interesting
  5. Do GLoomis rods have a serial number printed on them, like St Croix rods do?
  6. Heck, YOU'RE the guy who's always recommending rods and reels to perspective buyers...maybe you need to have a look at all your previous posts
  7. As far as rods go, this Daiwa Cielo is the best deal going right now, MH'F and perfect for your needs http://www.***.com/Team_Daiwa_Cielo_Casting_Rods/descpage-TDCC.html
  8. Thanks. It's got a Zillion HLC spool, ceramic hybrid spool bearings, smooth-drag washers and an HSTA 4-bearing 90mm handle.
  9. I am a fan of St Croix rods. I have fished Triumph and Mojo spinning rods, and recently acquired a Legend Tournament along with a pair of Avid casting rods. I am very happy with all of them and will buy more
  10. Thanks. I have enough trouble understanding the English language. I don't stand a chance with text message lingo
  11. Chipped rod guide insert?
  12. Nice set-up, but that 20# PowerPro might have some issues "digging in" on the spool because it's so thin...like equivalent to 4# mono.. You might find that 50# or so works better on a baitcast reel.
  13. A 40 sized reel is too big. I prefer 2500 sized reels for Bass fishing
  14. some call it graphite...but I still call it plastic
  15. I'd be at the local Wal-Mart getting a couple Ugly Stiks
  16. The Pflueger President is a fine reel with a solid track record. Tough to find better performance and value at the $60 price point
  17. if that was the case they could keep the rod and i would be looking for a full refund. unless a blind man packages and ships the rod they should know the rod is not saleable with a guide off center. thats just me though. LOL!! Yeah, I was kind of the same opinion. So, I mentioned that to TW - asking them if they inspect the rods when they receive from the manufacturer and before they ship to customers. They didn't have a really great answer for me. But, they're sending me shipping labels to return it to them. Draw your own conclusion I guess. Do you guys think that it would be feasible for TW to visually inspect the items they sell? Shipping/receiving is fast paced and workers are relatively low paid. Ultimately this is a manufacturer's issue, and they (Dobyns in this particular case) need to get their ducks in a row
  18. That rod intrigues me. I might just have to try one
