  1. We had a great day. The weather held, the wind wasn't an issue, and we caught a couple bass...unfortunately that's all we caught, 2! There we 27 boats, a few local Pro's and all in all a great bunch of folks. Lunker Smallie was 3.3lbs, and lunker LM was 7.1 lbs! We found schools of bait fish but couldn't find the bass. The fishing was from 7am to 3pm and it's just amazing how fast the time goes by. Tons of fun. I gotta find a way to more tournies 8-)
  2. I'll be the co-angler with my Buddy & mentor tomorrow. It's a charity tournament on Webster Lake in Webster, Mass. I'll let ya'll know how it turned out. I gotta get to bed. 4am's coming quick
  3. Welcome to braided line. Daiwa's Samurai braid is the quietest, and arguably the best braid available. Spiderwire braid is at the bottom of the totem pole :-/
  4. I have never fished a rod with micro guides. I would personally buy and try a factory rod with micro guides before I ever had a custom rod built with them.
  5. I have the "Squarebill Crankbait" rod which is a 6'9" H/XF. Like all my gear, I use it for a variety of techniques. Frogs, senko's, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs...I haven't got on the technique specific rod bandwagon yet. It's lightweight and balances very well. Lots of backbone and the XF allows me to throw baits easily and accurately. I have a Daiwa Fuego on it with 30# Suffix braid It's a lota rod for $140 and it's so darn purty
  6. There are no Daiwa reels on that list! Therefore, I vote Citica
  7. You done well! Is that a modified drag star? Looks good 8-) I really like my Fuego's and find that they get fished with about 75% of the time. They are pretty much sooped up TDZ's now One's on that LTB 7' M/F and the other's on a Powell 6'9" H/XF
  8. My Fuego's are pretty jacked up, but I can toss a Pro-Senko on a 1/0 EWG hook 60' or-so. That Fuego is mounted on a LTB 7' "Teaser" rod and spooled with 12# Yo-Zuri Ultra-Soft. For a most-excellent reel that can cast light baits extremely well right out-of-the-box, look at the Daiwa SOL. They are available for about $160 shipped right now on ebay. Killer deal. My Sol's on an LTB 6'8" M/XF that is well suited to light baits
  9. I'm a righty that reels with his left hand. I think this reel was specifically designed for me! I am blown away with just how ergonomic these reels are. They look funky, and internally they are unique. Too bad they don't still make 'em, but I'll be keeping my eyes open and will pick up a few more 8-)
  10. NFL

The Ravens were whupped by a scruffy girl and a bunch of rookies playing defence ;D
  11. How 'bout some fishing Luv then? Here's my latest reel. Traded away a perfectly good Curado E7
  12. Have you compared it to Sunline flourocarbon?
  13. I like mine. It's mounted on an Avid 7' MH/F rod and spooled with Cortland 50# Masterbraid. I also have an '09 Premier that I'm very happy with 8-) agreed. these respond really well to a cleaning and lubing. I'm the guy that takes a brand-new reel, opens it up and completely dis-assembles it, flushes out all the bearings and gives it a "proper" lubricating. Your casting performance will be significantly improved if you at least flush the spool bearings and lube with a light bearing oil. Same goes for the Curado's
  14. Nice stuff Shane. I see a bit of my influence in that Fuego. Did you have it supertuned as well?
  15. I remove, flush and lube the bearings in every reel I get, new or used. I have found Revo's and Curado's come from the factory over-lubed with rather thick oil in the spool bearings. Performance can be significantly increased if you flush and lube them with a light bearing oil (I prefer Daiwa's Red Oil)
  16. I have one of the SPRO swimbaits. They don't fly all that well for a 7/8 oz lure! Have you oiled your spool bearings since you got the reel? I set my STX-HS and Premier (both older versions) so the lure slowly drops with the brakes off, then I start casting with the mag brake all the way up. I adjust the mag brake down after a few casts. I will watch my spool when I cast. If ytou see the line "loosening up" at the beginning of the cast, I increase the spool tension a bit. If I get troubles at the end of the cast, I know I need to stop watching the spool and use my thumb! ;D
  17. I don't get the logic behind putting mag brakes only. The brakes come in handy only at the end of a cast. Is that right? Centrifugal brakes do their work mainly at the beginning of the cast. Mag brakes come in many different "flavors" and will affect all of the cast to varying degrees. Read and learn, http://tackletog.com/superttuning/2009/05/13/backlash-magnetic-braking-and-spool-tension/ My guess is you're trying to really chuck your bait out there. Less is more. Be smooth. What rod is your Revo on? Your Citica?? What baits are you throwing?
  18. Thanks, I'll look into that. He has that reel (carbonlite), and because of that recommends it to anyone whether they ask or not. If you hang around here a while you'll learn to ignore him. ;D
  19. sell or trade it. life's too short to mess around with gear you don't like The reel is fine, you just don't have the skillz to use it properly
  20. First off, welcome to the forums Next, kudo's for researching a bit, and for choosing a very good set-up. That gear will take you far. Great quality, excellent warranty and will never be obsolete. 12lb YZ is a good, versatile choice. note that you can find Citica's on flea-bay for just under a $100 delivered
  21. Keep the "wanted" and "for sale" ads in the classifieds. I also see you're posting comments and asking questions over in the classifieds. You're all messed up, Dude!
  22. same question, different day http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1286907862
  23. The Daiwa Procaster is on sale at Tackle warehouse for $30. They've been there a while now. It will outperform many reels costing 3 times as much. The BPS Pro Qualifier is on sale right now for $70. These are very good reels at any price My point is with a little research one can get a vastly superior reel for a great price. Why settle for some "plastic fantastic" low end reel?
