  1. stick worm, trick worm, spinner bait, jig, frog
  2. I have put stick on eyes on them, not sure it helped - I almost always use unpainted weights
  3. 2 different tools - like a crescent wrench and a box end wrench - both do the job one may be more versatile than the other.
  4. I have their 8" ul that is amazing and handles a wider range of weight than I thought it would but it is a different kettle of fish from what you want.
  5. Gary Loomis is the man when it comes to rod building and design - I was glad to see an affordable rod with his input on its design - I own only one but it performs flawlessly.
  6. the bimini is simple and strong, worth learning - you can tie them fast with just a bit of practice
  7. A lot of one day tournaments are won by using "search baits" and looking for active fish - swim jigs to spooks and everything in between that can cover a lot of water.
  8. I'm experimenting with j-rigging Demon Lure craws - we'll see how that goes -
  9. I agree they're not as soft as senko's but they really catch fish - a lot of fish -
  10. well tightened trilene knot has been working well for me in braid and flouro
  11. The old bass buster scorpion in white with a pork chunk was a classic cold water bait - single colorado, short arm, slooow retrieve.
  12. We used them a few times in big cypress and caught some good bass on them but if you weren't vigilant the gators ate them. Clients always loved to see gators eat my lures.
  13. I've fished them for years - great tools - one of my more memorable catches was an 18# channel cat in south bay on the big O on a strike king wild shiner in clown color.
  14. never in this life
  15. The 7'11"H is great with 2 - 4 oz. for me - I don't fish A-rigs much (feel like I'm throwing a hdwe store) but I have cast them with this rod and it does real well with that weight range.
  16. Love my old 400 calcutta - used it for tarpon now it's a swimbait reel just keeps casting smooth as butter
  17. goes to show - the only hard and fast rule to bass fishing is you must go bass fishing
  18. I have the H and XH 7'11" guide select okumas and am very happy with them and as far as I can tell the best fluoro out there is tatsu
  19. was this a ribbit? I think of horny toads, ribbits and that ilk as "toads" that are fished on a more steady retrieve and I guess you could get away with mono easier - but with either frogs or toads you won't get the hooksets you can with braid and if you're in tough veggies braid will cut its way out. But fish what you will - just never stop frog fishing.
  20. I use 50# sufix (not the 832) I tried 65 but when frog fishing I like to make long casts (where applicable) and I think the 50 gives me a little more distance - never had an issue with breakage and I turn the line once a year and use it for a few years.
  21. I don't use them - I have rods over 20yrs old that have never been covered - same with reels - scratched? sure paint worn off - of course - but they function flawlessly - I do regular maintenance and will rewrap a rod if needed. This is strictly personal I understand protecting expensive tackle - I just don't care what it looks like as long as it performs and I don't think cosmetic damage changes performance - if it does I fix it.
  22. Rods, I buy action not brand - reels - I like most of them - I have tourney pros and guide friends who use one brand and feel it gives them consistency - it makes no difference to me as long as the equipment performs to my needs.
