Soft bodied swimbait
I personally like the Storm Wildeye Swim Shads. They have an excellent swimming action and are weighted perfectly to fish at various depths. The key to swimbaits is fish them SLOW. Funny thing is I have heard a lot of people give these baits bad reveiws basically saying they can't catch a cold with them. I used to think the same thing until I slowed way down. Made all the difference in the world.

Lure Retriever
I use the one with line and chains attached. I also cut a wood doll to spool the ine onto so you don't have a tangled mess after the retrieval. Seems to me you'd be going through a lot of those retreivers on the video. Very seldom do lures pop off as easy as they shown. IMO the only way to go is to use one with line attached and really why wouldn't you they only cost like $6. I have yet to loose the retriever itself in ten years of owning one.

Best Bang for the buck Lures
Franco mentioned a lure knocker. I used to laugh when I'd see these on the shelf. Then I fished a lake(I was actually walleye fishing) where the fish were buried in submerged brush and where smashing crankbaits like crazy. I would lose 5 or 6 lures every time I fished this lake so I figured what can it hurt and bought one of those gimick looking things. That $5 dollar lure knocker has literally saved me hundreds of dollars and I beleive I catch more fish because of it since I no longer worry about loosing baits hence I throw right in the junk. I can count the number of lures on one hand that I haven't been able to retreive with a knocker. Every now and again people will pass by and see me using it and you can tell by the look on their faces their like " I can't believe this guy is using one of them." The joke is on them. They really work. I should probably finish this post by saying no I'm not a lure knocker manufacturer. ;D

Shakeyhead ???
I figured it would be a good question to ask to get a general idea of what people are throwing. I will by no means limit myself to one size. Thanks for the replies.

Shakeyhead ???
Plan on doing some shakeyhead fishing this year and was curious to know if you only had one size jighead to use for shakey style fishing what would it be. Remeber just one. Thanks fellers.

anybody seen/used these???
Check out Jerry Rago's line of lures if you want to see over priced. $70 for a topwater rat and $100 for swimbaits. More power to the guy but I wouldn't buy that topwater rat for $3 dollars if I seen it on the shelf.

New fishing show on Versus
I DVR most all the fishing shows. After seeing the title Big Bass Battle I thought good, we'll see people trying to target bigger fish for a change. I quit DVR'ing the show after the second episode was worse than the first. Bass Pros, Zona and the Lindner boys are the best fishing shows IMO. Almost forgot UMF & Pro Team Journal.

BPS Nitro Shad opinions?
I have bought store brand baits in the past and have not been real happy with them. Usually the paint chips off in a week or they're impossible to tune, seems like they are usually lacking in some area. I was checking out the Nitro Shad on the BPS web site and the reviews look really good. The price is very appealing as well. Was curious what you guys think of these baits and how they match up to the big names like Rapala, Strike king, etc. Thanks fellers.

Handheld GPS

Line shy bass?
Was curious if you guys that fish clear lakes with heavy fishing pressure have ever noticed bass being line shy and if using mono or flouro has ever made a difference in getting more bites? Thanks fellers.

2.5 hp on 12ft aluminum boat. Speed??
Any guesses on the speed you would get out of a 2.5 to 5.5 motor mph wise? Thanks.

2.5 hp on 12ft aluminum boat. Speed??
I have a small 12ft aluminum boat that has been sitting in the backyard for ages and I'm thinking of putting a motor on it to get back into small streams and cricks. I already have a small elec.trolling motor but would like to put something along the lines of a small gas powered kicker motor on the back for a little more speed. I plan on mainly using it for hunting purposes. I'm curious if anyone has a setup like this and how fast a 2.5hp motor would push a small boat like this? The boat is a plain jane aluminum boat with aluminum bench seats. Thanks fellers.

Line recommendation question
Was curious what you fellas use for line when casting cranks? What pound test? Braid, mono, or flouro? Will be mainly fishing medium & deep diving cranks and rattle traps(both 1/2 & 3/4oz) with this setup. The lake I will be fishing has about 1 to 2 ft visibility, a rock, mud and shale bottom. And there are no weeds growing along the bottom to foul your lure. Thanks a ton fellers.

Best MultiTool/ Pliers
Leatherman. I have to go with the original. Everything else is basically a copy. Pick the one that has the tools you like and go with it. Whether it be a Leatherman or a Gerber. IMO Leathermans just feel more solid.

Ever wonder if fishing is not your thing?
Buy a lure retreiver. I have literally saved hundreds of dollars with one. I use the rope kind and not the telescoping pole. They take a little practice but once you get the hang of them you will hardly ever not get a lure back. Especially with cranks. Its been a long time since I have lost one. It will also give you confidence in fishing the nasty stuff.

Fat Ikas for large mouth?
Thanks for the boost in confidence in these baits. I have been catching the bass pretty good at this powerplant lake on power worms and I think the bass are getting conditioned to the worms. Looking for something with a different look and I seen these hanging on my wall of shame and remembered hearing about them for smallies. Wasn't to sure about the large mouth variety. Looks like They'll be getting some Fat Ikas to eat. Thanks again fellers.

line class world records
I actually visited that website before posting this. They have the all-tackle records open to the puyblic but want a paid membership for any other records(line-class I'm assuming) for $20 bucks. I guess I don't need to see them that bad. I thought maybe there was another website where they were open to the public. Thanks for trying though.
