Martens and VanDam's exchange on the final day.
That was something you don't see to often. I kinda wish they would show more stuff like that. I think it would make it more interesting and maybe appeal to a larger audience. Add a little drama to the mix. Not made up drama but real stuff. You can't tell me these guys are squeaky clean at all times. The exchange between KVD and Martins can't be a one time deal we just don't see it come TV time. I mean there has to be some heated rivalries back at the dock or even after the tourney. Kinda like in NASCAR. There is obviously some rivalries and the drama that is adding to its huge following. Why else would people that have never even been to a race track be so swept up in racing? I thought it was neat how they showed that KVD was getting in Martins head. He obviously had him rattled without even trying. Martins is his own worst enemy. On a side note ESPN must see the potential for pro bass fishing to air 5hrs of this tourney over the course of the weekend.

Classic?
Not really. I DVR'ed it and missed the most important part, the final weigh in. That really sucks.

Anyone "collect" fishing lures and never plan on using them?
Would definately keep it in its original package. That has a huge effect on the price of a collectable lure.

Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
On the Bass Pros the other day KVD was doing some flipping and was doing the ole switcheroo. Suprised me a bit I must say. I do the switcheroo on power casts but taught myself to flip left handed because I think quick missing quick strikes could be a problem.

Cranking clear water
I'd certainly be giving swimbaits an honest go. If your dead set on cranks in clear water. Natural colors with a very fast and erratic stop and go retrieve is what I'd start out with. With the swimbaits a SLOW steady retrieve. This would actually be my first choice. If that don't work jig it.

Winning Baits
Whats crazy is that only ten years ago it was the other way around. I hardly ever remember tourneys being won on hard baits back then. And back then really wasn't that long ago. I remember reading an article in Bassin(I think that was the mag) they asked ten of the top pros what is the number one tourney bait and something like 8 out of 10 said a jig the others were a plastic worm and a spinner bait and that was about ten years ago. I wonder what the answers to that question would be today?

Mixed message on bait quality
This pretty much sums it up. Most would rather pay $5 for a good bait with crappy hooks than pay $8 for a good bait with good hooks

kvd's lures at classic
I know the 1.5 I have is silent. Not sure what the water clarity is where he is fishing but would also like to know. Also curious if they make a 1.5 that rattles? Anyone?

kvd leads
It really is amazing that in a sport that is supposed to involve at least some amount of luck that someone can be so dominating. He really takes the luck factor out of fishing. And on top of that he doesn't seem to be slowing down any.

twh has the new berkley havoc for preorder ?
Like most are saying nothing seems to overly innovative. Not saying I wouldn't buy them if I seen them in the bargian bin. The only guy in the video that baffles me is Skeet. It seems to me he wants to portray the tough guy of the sport. Its a bad depiction of himself and I don't think its genuine.

Has Fishing Gotten Easier?
I think we are living in the good ole days.

Trokar hooks are they worth the price??
I'll stick with the Gama's. $10 for 4 hooks seems a little overboard especially if they become dull after a few fish. For that price they better hold an edge like no other.

Bass getting familiar with my lures?
What kinda baits are you using and what time of day are you fishing?

Has Fishing Gotten Easier?
IMO it basically boils down to whats between your ears. I also agree with Fish Chris that the internet has proven to be a priceless tool when it comes to shortening the learning curve by leaps and bounds. I have also seen guys with $50,000 boats equipped with all the goodies and the most expensive gear and they still can't catch squat on their own. You still have to put the pieces together. In the hands of the right person the high tech gadgetry will definately be of an advantage. I also think another reason that it seems we catch more fish is probably because there is more fish. Lakes are being managed much better than they used to be which some people may debate but for the most part I feel its true. More people practicing catch and release, slot limits being implemented you name it it helps.

fav swimbait
Curious as to what you mean by childs play? If 36 bass up to 5lbs in 5hours on 2 baits is childs play then yeah they are. I think in Cali where the water is gin clear there is a real need for expensive life like swimbaits. Where I fish the water is moderately stained to stained and there is really no need for the high dollar swimbaits. In all honesty I used to look at these baits and think the same...I bought some and would have moderate success with them. My problem was I was fishing them like a crankbait. I was fishing them to fast. It wasn't until I really slowed down with occasional pauses to make contact with the bottom that they really started producing. I'm sure to some my first example IS childs play but in ND most would agree that its a pretty decent day. Also forgot to mention I was fishing from shore.

Help Me Start a Crankbait Collection!
You can pretty much cover the water column with Strike King cranks. They have good colors, run true and catch tons of fish all at a great price.
