Power Pole question
Hey Glen, I have checked into the holding powers of these two poles and from what I have been finding is the holding power is the same. In the specs it says they are both rated for a 28ft boat and 4500 lbs but the chart says the Pro series has a stronger hold while the Sportsman has a strong hold. I emailed Hydrilla Gear and they said the hold is the same and I called JL marine and when I asked this question the guy kept repeating the specs that both poles are rated for 28ft and 4500lbs, even after I informed him the chart says the Pro has a stronger hold. The guy at Hydrilla Gear said the higher price of the Pro is because of two years longer warranty and a powdercoat finish. Still a little confused whether the Pro has a stronger hold than the Sportsman. Do you know for certain if the Pro has a stronger hold than the Sportsman? I seem to be getting conflicting answers and this will be the deciding factor on which one I choose. Really not sure if $300 is worth the upgraded paint job or two year extended warranty. For the stronger hold I would definately upgrade. Thanks Glenn

Spike It vs. JJ's Magic
I have never tried spike-it but do have JJs and it is some potent stuff and have experienced instances where we were definately getting more bites because of it. Definately be careful with it. It will stain pretty much anything it touches. I would hate to spill a bottle in the boat.

Pit Boss Problems
Yeah there are always different ways to use lures but I use the pit boss for what it was designed for, flipping and pitching. At the time its the only bait I use for this method. I used to use beavers but the fact that they have no action always put me off a bit. The pit boss fit the bill perfectly. I love the action they have on the fall. Since switching to the pit boss I actuall find myself doing more flipping and pitching. Its an excellent bait for that application.

Power Pole question
Was thinking about installing a shallow water anchor on my boat. Its an 18 foot skeeter bass boat. I was thinking about going with the Sportsmans Series but am wondering if this is a good choice and what the benifits of moving up to the Pro Series would be? More than anything I am most concerned about a good hold. It say the Pro Series has a stronger hold but maybe the Sportmans Series would be plenty for an 18ft boat is kind of what I am wondering. Replies would be much appreciated. Thanks fellers.

Need help with a new reel.
Thanks for the clarification. So the better I get with this reel do I go with less braking? It has four brakes. so I imagine three settings, two on(across from eachother), four on or zero on?

Need help with a new reel.
I was hoping someone could help me out with a new reel I recieved as a gift. Its a Shimano Chronarch 150 c14+. I have been fishing my whole life but have only used baitcasters for maybe the last three years when I really started targeting bass. The reels I currently own are a Abu garcia Revo sx, and a Diawa Viento. Niether of which have a magnetic brake like this new Shimano. I am fairly familiar with setting the tensions on my other reels for different lures but have no experience with the magnetic braking on the Shimon. I believe this reel has a 7.6 to 1 gear ratio. I was hoping someone could give me a lesson on how I should set up these brakes for flipping and pitching or for casting cranks or spinnerbaits. Not really sure what nitch this reel will be filling in my arsenal. Thats something else I wouldn't mind opinions on is what application this reel is best suited for. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Let Go Of A Big One
Take a picture and let them go, put the picture in an album and when you get old and gray you'll always have those memories. Your grandkids will love them too. I have a few different fish mounts and they really don't do anything for me anymore. The only fish I would mount at this point would have to be a state record. Otber than that it all pics. When your used to keeping those big fish its hard to let the first few go. It gets easier to the point you love watching them big girls swim off. You get a real sense of satisfaction.

Buying A Used Boat
Its pretty easy to see if a boat was well taken care of. Definately wait for one that is set up the way you want or can modify to your liking. Low hours on a motor is a big plus. I alway shied away from tourney boats. They are usually ran pretty hard. People get stupid when money is on the line.

Butt Seat Pedestal
I have used the hydraulic adjustable post for years. It seems they are only good for about a two year period before they slop out and are useless. This last one I bought is manually adjustable. No more hydraulic piston to wear out. I believe this manual post will last much longer. It also sells for a much better price.

Booyah Quality
I have had some quality control issues with booyah spinnerbaits. Not a lot but some. Lost about a four pounder due to a broken wire. I did catch a lot of bigger fish on that bait prior to the broken wire. Even though I still use them , they are some fish catching SOBs.

Whats Up With This Bass I Caught?
Nothing to worry about. In ND where I live the game and fish dept says its ok to eat fish with them growths. There ugly but harmless. Those growths are fairly common on walleye in the Missouri River.

Losing Bass On Frogs -- Not Sure Why
Could be the frog your using. My hookups while frog fishing greatly improved when I started useing the booya brand frogs. Softer body and a good hook and braided line can make all the difference.

Suspended Smallmouth Tactics
Spybaiting with a Duo Realis spinbait 80. Count it down to where the fish are suspending and slowly real it through them. Great clear water bait.

There is a saying out there that goes something like "hard work trumps talent that doesn't work hard". I think this sums it up pretty well.

Possible Reasons Why Kvd Has Slowed Down
I was thinking about this exact topic the other day. The thing about guys like KVD is they force the other guys in the sport to perform that much better. It happens in sports all the time. The athletes today are head and shoulders above the athletes of yesteryear. A lot of ole timers would most certainly argue the point. Even mediocre basketball players of today would more than likely have been superstars thirty years ago. Athletes are always getting better and records are always being broken. Same goes for fishing. Like I said could it be that KVD has forced the rest of the field to perform that much better? There isn't a doubt in my mind. And I bet they would agree.

Bulk Pack Finesse Worms
I have taken the chance of buying on ebay and have been very pleased with the products i've received. I figure at the low price they sell bulk worms for on ebay that if they are junk you ain't out much. I yet to have that happen though. Have saved a ton of money plastic shopping on ebay.
