  1. I have read many listed here and IMO KVD's Bass Strategies was easily the best for bass fishing info bar none.
  2. Well you got the first one under your belt. For me taking that step was the hard part. I remember being literally sick to my stomach with nervousness at my first tourney and it was a tiny one compared to the one you fished. The biggest plus to fishing tourneys for me was what I have learned from fishing them. It has improved my fishing tremendously. Good luck in the future!
  3. If you don't mind, i'd be curious to know what colors he liked that were discontinued? Excellent write up by the way.
  4. This is why I take my boat work to a professional.
  5. KVD won Toledo Bend!
  6. Finally. I myself was starting to question what the heck was going on with KVD. Good to see him back to his ole butt whoopen self. It is a little strange how he dominated for so long and then just kinda slipped into a pretty major funk for two years. Major for him anyways. Anyway I love to see KVD win.
  7. Took the words out of my mouth.
  8. I was thinking about ordering one of these and was curious if anyone has experience or owns one of these and what they think of them? Also it asks what side( port or starboard) the trolling motor is mounted on. Mine is mounted on the front with the prop haning over the starboard side while the powerhead lays to the port side. So would that mean the trolling motor in on the port side?
  9. Of all the pros I have always liked Evers the most. Very happy for the guy. He is definately deserving enough to add a classic win to his already phenomenal record. Way to go Evers! Cristie is a class act. Ill root for him in the future. I like seeing the god guys win. Thats what I like about bass fishing, 99% are good guys.
  10. I like Evers. It wouldnt hurt my feelings to see him take a classic. As good as he is he deserves one. Go Evers!
  11. More Sheli Sanders less John Watson.
  12. The thing about pro bassin is nothing is gonna change until people start paying entry fees to attend events. To my knowledge this is not the case and even if it were would it be enough for BASS or FLW to flip the entire bill? I doubt it. The NFL and NBA makes money hand over fist because people are willing to pay rediculous amounts to watch an event. Don't forget how much they are raking in on clothing sales like hats, shirts and jackets to support their local teams. I dont ever see that kind of support for bass anglers but then again I never thought NASCAR would be as big as it is either. There is a lot of comparisons between the two IMO. Money needs to by generated from an outside source for the organizations(BASS and FLW) to flip the entire bill.
  13. Curious, on the submission checklist it asks for a video submission. Is this required along with a three photos? Or is this a seperate way of submitting your info? Also curious how you would send a video submission? Can you send it via text?
  14. This is strictly personal opinion. You really can't go wrong with a Glock 19 or 17. Smith and Wesson M&P's are also fine guns. I like the maneuverability of a handgun over a shotgun. You also have a limited round count with a shotgun. 6 rounds verses 17 is a no brainer in my book. I would hate to get into a gun battle and run out of ammo. Probably an unlikely scenario but you know what they say about murpheys law? Its all about puting the odds in your favor. In a situation like a home invasion im not leaving anything to chance.
  15. I like the idea of everyone using the same bait throughout the tourney.
  16. Also with the talon if you plan on going under low bridges you'll need a tilt bracket or even backing it into a garage. Thats another $200 bracket. For my boat I would have had $500 tied up in brackets for the talon. Made me look into the power-pole which is what I pulled the trigger on. Hoping I made the right decision. I like the all electric of the talon. The simpleness of the power-pole. You can install drift paddles on a pole to slow your troll if you were so inclined to do so. The only thing I don't like about the pole is the hydraulics. It seems though problems with them are few and far between. IMO its a horse apiece depnding on what you want. I really thought they were both great additions to any boat so for me it really just came down to price as im sure I would have been happy with either units. $300 was the deciding factor.
  17. By electric steer do you mean one controlled with a remote, or auto pilot, spot lock? I would think they all have trolling motors equipped with these options.
  18. A 4" grub that is a translucent pearl with some light purple hues on a 1/4 mauve round ball jighead. At one point or another I have slaughtered smallies, largies, walleye and pike on this lure. Good all year round bait.
  19. Where I live the temps can dip into the -20 over winter. I pull the battery's in the fall, put the battery in the basement and hook the batteries up a few times over the winter to keep them at full charge. No need to leave a battery charger hooked up to them all winter.
  20. I have another question concerning power poles. I live in ND where temps in the winter can get as low as -20 and I store my boat in cold storage during the winter. Its indoors just not heated. Would this cause problems for the hydraulic system in any way as in leaks? Thanks fellas.
  21. X-raps, Shadow-raps and the SK KVD jerkbaits all worked well for me this spring. A year ago I had a few days where they were killing the LuckyStrike RC stx.
  22. Thanks Glen. I went with the Pro Series.
  23. Looking forward to hear what you find out Glen. Thanks. I have spent literally hours reading reviews and "power-pole vs talon" threads the last month trying to decide what would best suit my needs. The conclusion that I have came to is they really are both great products. I wouldn't hesitate buying either. Both brands had things about them I really liked and things that i disliked just a little but none would be deal breakers. For me it really came down to price. As long as I don't get a lemon which can happen to any company from time to time and from some of the stories I read there are people that have had horror stories with both units. I have no doubt I would be happy with either.
  24. I actually started out with my mind set on a talon but after all the brackets that would be needed to mount on my boat the price kept climbing. A gave the power-pole a look and can get into one at a better price by a few hundred dollars. I also like the drift paddle idea, and the tilt bracket that i would need for the talon I will not need for the power pole. Going under the bridges I fish i can simply lower the power pole. I also like the torture testing of the pole that I seen on youtube. And after reading a lot reviews at this point the pole seems to be the direction i'm heading. Though not set in stone at this point.
