  1. Find a mentor. Find someone who loves to teach then help with expenses and learn on the water.
  2. My original LEWS BB1N. in 1979 it was a hundred bucks. It's still (and the other four I own) one of the best reels ever manufactured. Anyone remember Shag Shegrud ?
  3. Years ago I bought an Okuma baitcaster, the VS series I think. One trip and back to the store it went. I spent up and got a Curado 200B. Much better. I bought two Mojos sight unseen and that was a mistake.
  4. When the water temps hit 55 degrees in the spring and the grass is still down. I will cover flats that are 5 to 9 feet deep with a YoZuri Vibe or Drum in a dark crawfish pattern. Same in the fall when the temps get down to 55 degrees. A baitfish color then. Those are my peak times.
  5. I hope the Jack Link Sasquatch takes the whole thing. I heard he's Marty Stones' second cousin.
  6. For your new partner i'm sure. She looks like she might get chilly during the boat ride.
  7. I would lean toward the 745DX. I prefer full rear grip when ever it is an option. Mine has a Tournament Pro. This model is one of my favorites and gets alot of use. It has numerous applications from jigs to A-rigs. You are on the right track for sure.
  8. Great job Bob. That took some time and effort for sure.
  9. Why do you need to buy the same model ? Buy one of each and then decide what the next 4 plus will be. The 99.00 model has an aluminum frame and would make a great reel for spinnerbaits. It's a win win scenario. I can't actually comment on the standard speed spool, I don't own one. I do have MG, TS, TP, Super Duty and BB1 models. Just a thought.
  10. You got them Doug !!! By the way that lemmon pudding you got with lunch was vanilla. They gotcha.
  11. It could be worse Clayton..........you could have bought a Shimano. I love to stir up the crap. Seriously, PM me with your address and I am going to send you a get well gift, no joke. Doug
  12. Get the BB1. You will be glad you did.
  13. I looks like you just got back from having a tooth pulled.
  14. Well A-Jay I met James Brown once and you don't see me posting how I just met the godfather of soul, and he's even shorter than Timmy Horton. Seriously, when Mark came back on tour after an illness that almost killed him, and to win his first event back, that speaks volumes about the man. Sorry about the teasing Mark. You have a lot of fans and I for one, am one of them.
  15. Dad gum bald eagles. There's a whole family of them on my home lake. Pesky buggers. That's why I carry a 22 in the boat.
  16. Lipless: Yo Zuri Drum ( Discontinued ) Shallow: Luhr Jensen Speed Trap Medium: Normans Deep Little N/Luhr Jensen Hot Lips 1/4 oz. Deep: Luhr Jensen Hot Lips 3/4 oz./Normans DD22 Colors vary of course.
  17. A regular old texas rigged worm. Twitchen a floating minnow bait. Those were staples in the late 70's.
  18. I wonder if Mark has ever met Roland Martin ?
  19. I'm throwing mine on an 11 foot surf rod with an old Ambassadeur 6500C.
  20. I have large hands and like the longer reel handles on my Lews BB1 and Super Duty. I would have my Tournament Pros with graphite 95 mm handles.
  21. I have the Champion 703 and use it for tubes, hula grubs, shaky heads and skippin tubes under docks. The 702 is just on the light side for me except for the drop shot. I run 3/16 to 3/8 with the 3 power regularly. The 703 will turn bigger fish and have the power to set the hook with flukes and such.
