If today was your last fishing trip...
Curious if you only had one more day to fish in your lifetime, where would you go and what for? I would definitely go Tautog fishing with my dad off the coast of OC MD. Its my favorite kind of fishing.

Personal first
Went wading for smallies in a PA stream today with my ultralight setup and Trout Slayers. Happened upon a school of carp. I put a trout slayer in front of a carp, AND HE PICKED IT UP! But spit it right back out. In many attempts, I never had a carp take a bait before. So I tried it again. As soon as he picked it up, I set the hook. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Rippin out the 4lb line, what a battle! He was 20 inches. My first carp! Had a few more near hookups afterwards, but gave up and looked for some more carp upstream. After finding none, I came back and hooked into a 27 incher. What a fight! I'm now hooked on carp fishing. Note: I realize it is uncool to fight big fish on light tackle. I wouldn't have taken an ultralight rod and 4 lb if I had planned on catching carp. both carp were properly revived. Here's what Trout Slayers are: https://www.troutmagnet.com/store/trout-slayer-6-pc-pack-natural-p-250.html

Gear side baitcaster maintenaince.
What I do is first strip entire reel down and clean with Reel Clean. Then I lightly grease all gears, threads, worm gears (high stress), remove shields from spool bearings and then soak spool bearing in spirits, dry them, then lightly lube with a very fast lube, replace shields. Don't get lube in the anti reverse, and lightly oil shafts and places that need to spin fast. And for other bearings, take off the shields, soak in spirits, and I personally pack any non-spool bearings with grease, and replace shields. While they won't spin long, they will last alot longer, especially if any salt or minerals would get to them. And in most baitcasters there are two springs that fall out quite easily. Heres a tip: video yourself taking the reel apart, piece by piece, and know FOR SURE how to put it back together. Good luck.

Would you fight a honey badger for $200k
Without question I would do it if given the chance.

Oh yeah! That was definitely a fun trip. But I'm back in school in PA now, and done helping out for this year.- Lead and the EPA
You're putting lead on the same level as radioactive waste?! :-?- Lead and the EPA

Hopefully the bite will be as good as the shark bite was at OC. I do believe you were helping your dad on a trip I was on this summer. Yeah I probably was! Which trip were you?- Fishing Raystown
I'd love to come, but I live in Lancaster and I can't drive yet. But I am dying to get out with some one who KNOWS bass fishing and have them show me where to find em, how to catch em, ect. Reading a website only does so much, and there's nothing like having a skilled angler beside you. Once I can drive, you will see me at these events. 8-) This is what I think when you say shad: gray-white spinnerbaits and swim jigs and crankbaits. Is that recommended?- Tribute to Bass Resource!
At the beggining of this season, I knew next to nothing about bass fishing. I could catch them on worms, but it stopped there. Last winter, I decided to learn to fish for bass. Reading and watching as much as I could, especially on this site, I have gained alot of confidence in less than a year. I did alot of bass fishing this summer, usually with good results, given it was mostly ponds and small lakes. Not saying in any way I'm some great, or even good, bass fisherman, but I'm starting to get the hang of it, thanks to you all. Just today I fished in a location I never caught a bass in before, though I fished it many times, and today I caught over 10 bass! So thank you all for answering all my stupid questions, but you should know it wasn't all for nothing!- The end all thread
I am always amazed at the depth of your fishing experiences. With all the time you spend here on the 'net, when do you ever get to fish? ;D I fish every day during summer when schools out (weather pending), I get up early to go to Curtis Lake every day just before sunrise and fish until about noon or so with my dad. Starting tommorow it will be a different story though, darn school :-/ I know, man. School SUCKS, but homework sucks more.- Fishing Raystown
- Daiwa Vs. Shimano Vs. Abu
Tough one. If I did not feel obligated to buy from Ardent, I probably would have stuck with Daiwa BCs and Shimano Spinning reels. BUT..... got the XS 1000, and I'm lovin it and I'm more loyal to America than Daiwa, so now I'm an Ardent customer.- Fishing Raystown
What techniques and locations are good for fishing Raystown Lake in September? Any info is very helpful. I'll be going there soon, and as far as bass I usually fish small lakes and big ponds, not huge lakes like Raystown.. I won't know where to start with that "offshore" business for bass, if that's what it is.- Favorite T.V. show quote
Too many to list from The Office.- I'm picking up a new set up tomorrow, need help with the rod (Triumph or F&S Tec Spec)
Triumph- Is spinning gear best for jerkbaits?
Uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss baby ;D- Ardent XS1000 Arrived...
Finally got it out today. Amazing caster, caught about 12 bass and one HUMONGO gill (on a swim jig ;D). Very impressed, drag performed well, had power, and didn't feel strained fishing spinnerbaits whatsoever. But incredible casting, at least two fish caught would have been out of range with my old baitcaster! 8-)- Guy catches coyote on a frog, hahaha
thats funny ;D- Rod and reel care.
I also use Reel Butter on my internals, CX for freshwater. And I store my rods appropriately.- Soon time for Hockey too!
Makes me laugh every time.- 1st Baitcaster purchase
Maybe consider the Ardent C400 on ebay for around $100.- Soon time for Hockey too!
Yeah Malkin TORE UP last year Crosby = - Fishing Raystown
