Big Bass
I have my best luck on an over cast day with a little wind. My two largest were caught on a spinner bait and a lipless crank bait. I know you can get some nice fish with plastic but I have a hard time fishing slow. I like to burn along and cover a lot of water.

Pros and their sponsors
I wrote this a while back but I was at the tournament on Toho. When Tak had the boat pulled out of the water he had several people around him taking pictures. He pulled a rod out that had a Lucky Craft lipless crank bait on it. He took the lure and pulled the hooks off and put on two red hooks. He then held it up as one camera man took pictures of it. Since he won, Bassmasters had a write up on him. The picture they used was that picture of the crank bait with the red hooks. Now of course I wasnt in the boat with him so I have no idea if he used the bait with red hooks, but I know for a fact when he had pictures taken he didnt have one with the red kooks until he put them on. Just a side note to this, Golf is probably the biggest sport for people not using what they sell. I read an artical a few years ago that the title was "Whats in their bags". Although most of the top pro's in golf use a club built by the sponsor it isnt the club you can go buy. In most cases the clubs they use are a bladed club but on tv they are pushing the cavity back over the counter club. Fred Couples at the time was pushing the Lynx "Boom Boom" driver and he didnt even own one.

Slow B.A.S.S.
No problem. I just wanted to make sure you knew that it was how they tried to sell the book not that the book wasnt worth it. The problem is, I'm the type of person that will send it back since it isnt mine.

Just an Observation
I also started with a worm, but I dont throw one very often anymore. I usually throw a Rat-L-Trap, spinner bait, Rapala minnow and a crank bait. I know a worm is a very good bait but I have a hard time slowing down.

Local Tackle Shops
We had one for years and years but it is now gone. We do have a Bass Pro Shop not too far from me but I find the same thing with them. They are nothing like our old place. It was called Tim's Tackle Box. He had it all.

Slow B.A.S.S.
Dont misunderstand what I was saying. The book isnt a bad book and if you like them I'm sure they will come in handy. As far as the price, I'm sure it is in-line with Barnes & Noble as far as price goes. But remember Barnes & Noble doesnt just send you a book and tell you if you dont like it to send it back. There is nothing at all wrong with the book, I have a problem with them trying a scam to sell them. They know most people wont go through the trouble to send it back and thats what they are counting on. Just seems to me that after all of these years B.A.S.S. should be way past that. They also have a paper called the BASS TIMES. If you noticed they didnt send you a free copy of it because there would be no reason to return it. They only send you an offer to buy BASS TIMES if you want it. They could have done the same thing with the book, but they know the way they are doing it works much better.

Slow B.A.S.S.
I got mine pretty fast but I hate the book scam they are doing. You will get a box that has free gift on it. You open the box and there is a book in it. The letter goes on to say the COIN in the box is free and the book is 10 bucks or you can seal it back up and send it back to them if you dont want it. If you keep it they will of course send you more books at the Bassmaster price, which I would guess isnt going to be 10 bucks anymore. Come on B.A.S.S., send me a letter and ask me to respond if I want to buy a book, dont send me the book and make me have to tape it up and send it back. You would think they make enough money without trying to pull this crap. I have half a mind to just keep the book and tell them I didnt get any book! I'm sure at that point they would tell me that they wont re-new if I dont pay for the book. They pay the postage back but since this book doesnt fit in your mailbox I think they should pay for my time and gas to drop it off at the post office.

Need Help -- Boat problem
Have you checked the oil level in the tank on the motor? There is a chance it might be low.

Live Bait, FIsh finders. Cheating or not
As far as live bait, I dont use it. I dont have anything against it I just perfer lures. I cant argue live bait doesnt catch fish. You can just about catch something when using live bait. Most of the large bass caught here in Florida are usually with live bait.

Night Fishing
I dont fish much at night anymore but I used to fish a lot at night. I would usually only throw a worm. There are so many weeds in the lake I fish that it is hard to see a lure good enough to get it clean.

Live Bait, FIsh finders. Cheating or not
I agree 100%. It is so rare I even pick a fish up on the depth finder I dont even look for them. I use it for the depth and the bottom.

so how many....
I usually hit this site in the evening almost every day.

antique outboard
Go to aomc.net. There is a lot of info on them. I have several that I run from time to time. They run pretty good and arent hard to fix.

kayaks
A friend of mine only fishes from a Kayak. He loves it and he does pretty good. He has a fish finder that is hand held. It is a small one. He uses it more for the depth than finding fish on it.

Thoughts on all the BASS/bass fishing coverage?
I'm not sure if it is good or bad. Unlike golf or bowling it isnt a sport that most people will jump into with both feet. I would think there is a chance that maybe some smaller waters might have a few more people fishing from land or off of a dock. I dont know how many people new to fishing would rush out and buy a boat.

Skill or Luck
You make your own luck... If you go out and catch one large bass off of a dock using a dough ball I would say luck. If you win 19 tournaments in a career fishing against 150 plus other fisherman, I say that is skill. If you catch only 1 large bass fishing a classic and you win I would say luck. If you have won 4 classics in your career, I would say skill. If you can consistently go out and catch a lot of bass, there isn't any luck in it.

Gas consumption
I was just looking at a bunch of boat tests. Most of the boats that will run mid to low 50's are best at 30 to 33 mph. Just a side note but I looked at a report on a 65 foot Hatteras. Now of course I'm sure if you own one of these, gas prices wouldnt bother you. This boat at 1000 rpm's will run 12.6 mph and burn 19.8 gph. But at 1250 rpm's you pick up 3 mph and it burns 40.2 gph. 2350 rpm's 36.4 mph it burns a cool 146 gph! I wanted to add if you go to Boat trader and look on the left you will see boat test. Check it out, it is pretty interesting on the gph on most of these boats.

Autographs
If you give up on getting Omori's let me know. I will send it to you. I dont collect them, I just had the magazine with me when I met Swindle and Omori and had them sign it. Both signed their pics. If you collect them, it would mean more to me for you to have them than for me to have them.

Mike Iaconelli
I couldnt find that write up on his site. What site are you going to?

Mike Iaconelli
I like him. I think he adds a little to the tournaments. Plus doing what he does works well. Just remember love him or hate him, this thread is about him. And thats why it works for him..... Just to add a little side note, dont forget he is also a very good fisherman.
