Anybody watching Stranger Things on Netflix?
I'm on chapter 5, few minutes in. Will get to it after my youngest's soccer training tonight. This show has me hooked, and it's not often that happens anymore. Just hope it lasts unlike the several shows I started to enjoy on SyFy only to have them cancelled one or two seasons in.

Senko Fishing
8lb is fine. I use 6, 8, and 10lb fluoro for wacky, or I use 6-10 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid. Using fluoro more lately since I bought some Gamma Edge and am really enjoying it. I'd say 8 is most common for my wacky rigging as of now.

Yeah, you probably need to like SciFi to get Into it. I'm a huge fan of the genre, and a huge X-Files fan, so it is right up my alley.

Hook set with Wacky Hooks
You will probably yank the hook out of the mouth if you do the types of hook sets you see on TV... Most reel the slack and set the hook with a sweep or reel and lift. I have occasionally set the hook hard - but usually if I'm fishing a bigger hook like a 3/0 Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap...

You'll note as you watch the vids that he uses like 20# mono for weed guards. I don't know If that'd work for you, but it most certainly won't for me, which is why I've got 40 and 50 on my hooks. You can actually buy the jig weed guards from a place like mudhole.com if you want to try them. I found mono leader the cheapest option, personally.

See my reply just below yours. I use the 40 and/or 50# mono as the guard material. A spool of 50 yards is pretty cheap at Bass Pro, and other outlets.

And here you'll find (IMO) the best tutorial for tying weed guards. Also note that there are more ways to tie them on than what I've done. Experimentation is a key to find what you like best. http://intheriffle.com/the-riffle/fly-tying-weed-guards/

Yes. I've posted pix in other thread, but I'll explain a little here. 1) Cheap fly tying vice kit 2) Some fly thread 3) Buy some 40# or 50# mono leader material Then you experiment with double weed guards or single weed guards. Oh, use some Sally Hansen "Hard as Nails" nail polish from Walmart, Walgreens to use as glue.

Shak, they are MORE than capable of brining in bass over 5 pounds. No doubt. Look, I've caught 5 pounders on a #4 hook before, yeah, and I landed 'em, too! 1/0 is a great size.

You're talking about the green hooks, right? I've got some that I keep for when I'm out of Gamakatsu. I honestly like(d) the hooks, but found the point to have too much of a beak to it. I.e., their was a bend in the point down toward the shank. I much prefer Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap. But that's me. Our local DSG still carries the Owners, I happened to net a killer sale on them a year or two back. As far as weedless, the guard is fairly week on those, but they can get you out of a tough area in a pinch. Couple of bass caught and they don't hold their shape well. I make my own weedless hooks now, use 'em all the time.

Anybody watching Stranger Things on Netflix?
Just curious for anyone who was a kid/teen in the 80s (Or others) that may be watching Stranger Things on Netflix. Just started it last night, on "chapter 5" ... pretty good stuff so far. A little X-Files-ish, Stand By Me...

My first spinnerbait in about 20 years
It looks great! I've had very limited success on spinnerbaits, so I don't fish them much at all. But good luck on your sweet creation!

Another Fishermans Tale
If she was big, fat, huge mouth, and green, yeah, same bass. She has our number!

Do you think this will work in hydrilla?

Do you think this will work in hydrilla?
The keyboard will definitely NOT work in hydrilla. Just sayin'...

Another Fishermans Tale
Happened to me at Harwood's Mill a few times. One was when my youngest son was in the front of my kayak holding out the net while a huge bass, likely a PB, tail danced, spit my worm back at us and laughed all the way to the bottom. I think the same fish broke me off a year earlier in the same place.... Had my number.

Boat's At Night & No Running Light's
While at Lake Gaston last week I saw boaters flying across the lake as night settled in. Some with lights, and quite a few without as we could hear them and occasionally see them as the moonlight hit them. Still, as a kayaker, I stuck to shorelines and coves and avoided as best I could any big water. I also came in by sunset. Quite a few knuckleheads disregarded no wake zones while looking right at me, some never even looked just figured the no wake buoys were for other people... EDIT: I don't mean to make it sound like everyone was like this. There were FAR more very nice folks on boats who struck conversations with me, and I with them. They were very courteous.

Trolling motor prop fell off
I believe Ozark Trails is a Walmart branded motor, and from what it looks like, it's rebranded MotorGuide. So based on that, I'd look at a local Bass Pro or other shop for a replacement pin. I think Bass Pro's rebranded motor is also a MotorGuide, so this: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Prowler-Trolling-Motor-Prop-Accessory-Kit/product/98211/ Or here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/MotorGuide-Propeller-Nut-and-Wrench-Kit/10982920

Trolling motor prop fell off
Should be able to find a pin an such at a local marine store, or where you bought it? I lost my prop and pin on a trolling motor once, too and fortunately had a paddle with me to get back. Now I keep a spare on hand in my kayak.
