  1. Welcome aboard! Fine suggestions, but keep your options open and even try to get hands-on with both rod/reel in the store before you buy. General use would suggest a MH rod, plenty in that price range. Personally not a fan of the Mojo rods, but plenty love them. I feel they're too tip-heavy for my liking...
  2. LOL. Yeah, the conversation was almost identical to that! But he tried it with my 50e + white Carbonlite combo. I almost grounded him just for picking it up!

    Welcome aboard!
  4. Pretty good synopsis. Can't argue much with any of your numbers as on the average, bluegills are definitely the most feisty in my book. I'd echo yellow perch comments. They do put up a fight. And I've had some crappie fight like they were largemouth bass.
  5. Absolutely! Why NOT? Good on ya, mate!
  6. When I do throw cranks...and it is not often, I use my 50e reels, or my former Lexa, now owned by my 15 year old son who claimed it as his own -- 7.1:1. Worked fine for me, but I'm not a crank bait guy...
  7. Well done! Beautiful fish!
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. I use Chronarch 50e reels for this very purpose. Both are paired with 6'6" Carbonlites, one ML the other is MH. On both I can throw weightless 4" senkos with no issues at all. In fact, I can throw weightless Zoom Finesse worms on either setup (ML, obviously loads up better and casts them further). On my ML I've thrown weightless Yamamoto shad-shaped worms as well. No problems. Right reel, right rod, you can do it.
  10. I'd strongly consider the Lure, too. Great boat. But Native's Ultimate 12 is a phenomenal boat and highly customizable. I preferred it over the WS Commander, but you need to spend time in each whether on the water, or sitting in them at a store. You can find previous-year and/or demo'd models in the $800 to $1000 range.
  11. Yup. Works like magic My rig of choice most of the time. Though I don't use a rigging tool, sometimes I'll use shrink wrap...

  14. Welcome aboard! Lots of us kayak fisherfolk here!
  15. Depends on what you are after. Perhaps it could be called the wacky float rig or something else to avoid confusion. Bottom line, it works. It worked for me around dock pylons where bass were hovering at particular depths, weren't interested in a sinking senko, but once we put a float on, the senko hovered in front of the bass and drove it mad. Worked better than anything else we tried. FWIW....
  16. I haven't used a weighted hook, just let the senko do its thing until it hits the float length. And welcome to the forums!
  17. Wacky rigged junebug 4 and 5" BPS stik-o worms!!
  18. If I know I'll be more than a few hours, I'll bring some protein bars, some water. And the all-important sunflower seeds!!!
  19. Dude. A Dell? Get a Mac, and save up for the E-ATAK.
