  1. Interesting. Good sleuthing, Daniel.
  2. For me it is just the Carbonlite I'm interested in. Glad it is on sale for a 4 day stretch. At least I hope I'm reading it right.... Otherwise, I'm not getting up to get in line, either.
  3. Braid - for me - is the best for both spinning and casting. And for all of my setups, I simply tie on a leader for the technique I'm wanting to use. Braid just manages better than straight FC or even mono, copoly. I've used them straight, prefer braid. Not everyone agrees. Beauty of opinions based on our experiences.
  4. Interested, lighter sizes, as well.
  5. I'm so glad someone enjoys ice fishing. Glad I live in the south. Ice is usually found in our freezers. Sorry... I'll go home now.
  6. Thanks. The fellow who introduced me to them had them on a darter head jig. Suppose that's as good a place as any to start. Not sure when I'll do it, but now my curiosity is piqued!
  7. Indeed, good advice. So long as the pier rats are willing to share!
  8. For me, yes it does. I have had two rods rigged with two colors of the same worm - wacky rigged. It wasn't a test, just happened to be the day, and I've had a number of these days when I'd throw several colors at the same spot, and only one would get hit. I'm sure it is a day-to-day thing, as I've had days when they'd hit anything I threw. So if I'm not getting bit, I switch colors. Whatevs...
  9. I'm in no danger of actually buying one of these, I can't imagine the damage my wife would do to me, LOL.... Fishpond sells this "cheap" carbon/fiberglass net for a meager $190. But unlike the Boga Grip, this floats! http://fishpondusa.com/product/detail/nomad-guide-net/231
  10. Bummer that! And it is in-store only...
  11. And here's a link: http://www.basspro.com/Color-Multi/Small-Price-Under-5/_/N-1z0w8b4Z8aw?cm_sp=6Hr5DyNov2014_EMAIL&om_rid=Do2Izz&om_mid=_BUbkhGB89oOdID
  12. I have yet to try them, to be honest. I first learned about them from a guy I met while bass fishing! He said, "though they're saltwater baits, they are deadly for bass"... I never pulled the trigger to buy any. Guess I need to now, LOL. Maybe they'll be a cold water rig for my reservoir. What do you use to rig them?
  13. And charter boats use them because they're strong and inexpensive. When you have a boat full of people, many of whom are first-timers, you don't want to hand them an expensive rod/reel combo. At least I wouldn't. JFrancho is spot-on, IMO, in his assessment as to why they're not seen much in the bass pro field.
  14. Check your mailboxes, folks! BPS flyer has arrived and there are some good deals. Like Carbonlites for $70...
  15. Yessirree, the deals are legit! Black Friday flyer just arrived today!
  16. Quite possible. In my reading and talking with fishermen, I know there are a LOT of guides who use Ugly Stiks on charter boats - so a lot of those guides are probably on the sponsor list. As well, any "pro" catfishermen, many of whom use the Ugly Stik Tiger rods.
  17. I've found a number of lures stuck in trees. Also have found a canoe paddle, a hat, etc. Nothing spectacular, though. I'm waiting to latch on to a Stella + rod that someone threw overboard in frustration, LOL.
  18. From their FAQ: http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/Frequently-Asked-Questions/frequently-asked-questions,default,pg.html
  19. Dynamite will usually produce a bag like that, but in an even shorter time frame, LOL. Love to see a bag like that in my neck of the woods, though. Impressive, to say the least!
  20. Since nobody has recommended these, the BPS Carbonlite rods. I own two, and I was highly interested in the Fenwicks, others, which I was able to mess with at a Cabelas while on vacation. Personally, I felt the CLs were lighter in the tip than the others. That means more to me right now, having suffered through elbow issues. Just my .02. All the other rods mentioned will be excellent choices as well...
  21. It's all good I'm just a little perplexed as to why BPS is doing this. Hopefully there will be two lines of Carbonlite. The white and the black Carbonlite "CL" rods...
  22. Correct. See my post above... The white reel is on the Black Friday sale. I was referring specifically to the rods, though I didn't mention it in the reply as I did above.
  23. Currently the only white Carbonlite is the spinning model: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Johnny-Morris-CarbonLite-Series-Spinning-Rods/product/1406210641364/
  24. In that Black Friday flyer I linked to, it has the NEW "white" Carbonlite reel on sale... Page 2: http://www.theblackfriday.com/ads/BassPro.com/black-friday/BassPro.com-black-friday-ad.php?pn=2
