  1. Wacky by far, but I use other techniques -- and no O rings, either. I'll use shrink wrap tubing sometimes...

  8. Great memory right there!
  9. Not superstitious here. I sometimes use scents, and I've changed over time. I'll go through periods when I use them a lot, and times when I don't at all. I catch fish regardless. I've got MegaStrike on some of my plastics, I've got a spray bottle of Bang in the kayak, and I've got JJ's Magic bottles. I cannot prove one way or the other whether they've increased my catch rate or not. The other day I threw to a male guarding a spawning bed. I threw every color and style of worm I had with me. I even scented some of them. Then I grabbed one of the new Zoom Fluke Worms (watermelon magic), did not scent it, and that's what he hit. I never ended up getting him into the boat, but he struck that worm three times, and one time I had him hooked, he jumped and the bent hook came out (was an Owner weighted wacky hook with light wire, bend the hook once and it bends too easily the next time). So for whatever reason he saw the Fluke worm as a problem. Nothing else. Scent did not seem to play any part in this case. But I'll use scent again when I feel like it. I'm sure it helps at times.
  10. Very cool! And I agree with A-Jay, ethereal music was spot-on.

  12. Congrats! A great "ride", to be sure.
  13. TX, wacky, weighted wacky, Mojo, Jika rig Zoom Trick and Finesse worms.
  14. Read this as well. Personally love the Chronarch E series. Picked up my second 50E recently. Aaaawesome reels.
  15. I will agree with Raul. Flip a coin! Unless size matters. The Curado I is, I believe, a bit smaller than the Tat. But they both get fine reviews. Moreso, I'd say, between the Curado I and the Tat Type R. I picked up another Chronarch recently. Absolutely love the reels. Considered the Tat and the I, but decided what I like is the size of the Chronarch 50e the most.
  16. Welcome aboard, Darrell!
  17. I guess to each his/her own, but respect is the key. I get on the water and leave "the world" behind, so to speak. But my iPhone is with me because sometimes I have to check in, deal with matters, etc. Music is not on my list. I like to hear nature when I'm in my yak. Sound carries quite well over water, so I would prefer not to hear a radio blasting on the water. That said, it also depends on the water. A vacation lake with skiers in $80k boats is one thing. They come and go. Fishermen are more likely to stay at a spot for a bit, so that's more disturbing, IMO, if they are cranking tunes. But in all honesty, I haven't encountered any such fisherfolk blaring music yet! Most seem to be out to enjoy nature and hopefully land some fish, just like me.
  18. I like it! See how it fishes and modify to your liking, if needed. Love modding my yak. Did several crates over the years, but no longer fish with one...for now. But I always keep an open mind and mod away when my mood or methods change direction.

  21. That was a very cool report. Great potential in that river! Could use a bit more water, though, eh?
  22. Some good answers here. I would say if you are leaning toward's what Mitch said and going for dropshotting, etc., then you don't need to "waste" an entire spool. Line it up with some mono backing, the spool on maybe 1/2 of the 150 yards. That plus you're leader and you should be plenty good-to-go. My .02.
  23. 51 posts in, and a welcome aboard, Shawn!
  24. Copoly lines are fine to use. Cheaper than pure fluorocarbon, and quite strong. P-Line floroclear, others are fluoro-coated, while Yo-Zuri Hybrid are strands of copoly bonded with fluoro. I prefer P-Line Floroclear over YZH slightly, but both are fine lines. I also use pure FC lines. And all are used as leader material attached to braided mainline. Only listing those two brands primarily because they are what I rely on most of the time. Tried other copoly lines, just like those the best. That's my experience, yours may differ.
  25. Welcome aboard!
