A fine knot, but not easy to tie, IMO. I experimented with it a couple weeks back.... I pretty much tie the Albright most of the time, the Alberto/mod'd Albright with lighter diameter lines, usually 7 or 8 wraps up, 4 back down. Uni-to-uni if I don't feel like Albright.

I, too, was in that market. I ended up building stabilizers out of lobster pot buoys that worked great and allowed me to stand. My trolling motor was an awesome addition to that. But since that time, I migrated over to a hybrid kayak which is exceedingly stable, powered by me (paddle) or motor. It is both canoe and kayak, but gunnels are lower to water (kayak) than a canoe. Anyhow, just FWIW.

Over the years I've found that some soft plastics out catch others, some by a significant margin. So I've narrowed down to carry those colors which do best on particular waters. That sort of thing takes time to determine. There are staple colors I always have with me no matter what, others don't make the trip. In fact, "others" wind up on the shelf at home. But there will always be "others". New colors are fun to experiment with. And like you said, not too expensive.

I target bass the vast majority of the time. On occasion I've been known to target panfish (bluegill, crappie) from the yak. Even taken nothing but a long pole or two (no reels) on the yak. From shore, my boys and I have taken all our long poles, even our 20 footer (both fresh and salt).

Can't disagree on McNabb. But as for attitude, I'm sure y'all heard stuff in the local media we didn't hear in the broader media. Too bad (for us). But FWIW, I am more keen on Luck than I ever was on RGIII. The latter, to me, may end up a sad song in the NFL symphony. Something of a beautiful melody that didn't get to play due to brazenness and such. Whatev. I'm a Bills fan, so there!!! LOL

I know I couldn't help myself, but last night I was browsing japantackle.com and drooling commenced when looking at the JDM Shimano Aldeberan BFS (http://japantackle.com/Shimano/Shimano_Aldebaran_BFS.htm). 8.0:1 ratio and 2 gram casting weights?! Be still my beating heart! Thanks for the info, New. I looked at the gold CL reels, never bought. If money were no object, I'd have at least two of the Aldeberan BFS reels. Only thing I find lacking in my 50e is reeling speed. Prefer a 7.0:1 ratio...

Sure hope it isn't the media amplifying the "rip your coach" attitude. RGIII seems to be a legit dude with skills to back up his reputation... Now Manziel?..... but I digress. Either way, arrogance is irritating, and a humbling experience is often the key to bring it in to check. Hopefully that's the case here. If not, then he's gonna get seriously humbled in the pros as opposed to collegiate ranks.

Nice! Never owned an E series Curado... well, perhaps I do in the white E series Chronarch. Either way, great reel(s). My Lexa is pretty nice, too, but not on the level of the Chronarch, obviously.

Agreed. Next week will reveal a lot. I wonder how many variables Kelly has in his playbook to make it tough for opposing teams to prepare for the first few weeks. Eager to see if Marrone and staff can fix (coaching) mistakes made (clock management, etc.) for next week. But Griffin does look extremely rusty tonight. Agree that a few snaps would've given him *something* of a preparation for the real season. I can't help but think he is reticent to put 100% on his knee.

Indeed true. Too many times have I reeled in after either a catch, or coming through abrasive stuff. I check my line, feel *something*, but decide to cast again. Surely I won't catch a fish on the next cast... Wrong. Or wrong some of the time. Enough times to convince myself that I need to retie after I feel the first imperfection in the line. And I echo the sentiments on learning to tie knots. I'm pretty darn good at tying snells, palomars, albrights (variants) while on the water. I *always* test my knots before casting the first time. It is rare that a knot fails on me. Broke off a TX rig the other day in rocks. Couldn't free it for the life of me. Pulled till my line broke -- just below the albright knot...

I actually used 10 pound Spiderwire back in the days we had some of these reels. Worked fine for the most part. Can't remember any problems. We also have some Abu 276U underspin reels that came with 8lb Trilene XL. Not UL size, but worked well, landed me several large pickerel, one being ~24+" long. I did try 2lb test on one of the small Zebcos, not a big fan of 2lb mono, but that's me.

I do both. And while I'm a kayak fisherman, I do beat the banks from time to time with my sons, or a friend. That said, probably like others, I've gone through a LOT of trial-and-error to find storage methods that work for me. So currently, I take three 3500 size boxes with worms and terminal tackle divvied up by the dividers. So I have one box with 6 rows of my primary go-to colors of 4-6" Senko/senko-style baits in various colors. Another box has my primary go-to colors for Zoom Finesse and Trick worms. The third box are occasional worms, smaller minnow style flukes, etc. I put *some* of a pack in the box, the rest stays in the original bag. All of this is stored in a clear, 16 quart Sterilite box, that neatly slides under my raised seat in my yak. I've also got other stuff in the box. Before this, I used (still do, but not as often) a Bass Pro worm bag and in each zip lock contains a worm bag(s) in original packaging. Also used gallon ziplock bags with several worm bags inside. I labeled the ziplocks for type of bait, or tackle. Easy to throw in a backpack and take anywhere.
