  1. Bit blurry picture, but here is mine
  2. #1 3lb 9oz On a flat with fallen timber all around, stained water, opening day 2011. Willow leaf spinnerbait. #2 3lb 9oz Near the bank, not much cover murky water. Opening day 2012 Colorado spinnerbait. #3 3lb 15oz (smallmouth) Right at the base of a d**n in really fast water, cranking a Rapala DT Flat 7, reeling as fast as i can to give it action and it bit almost at my feet, and i just swung it on shore
  3. Hi, I'm Chris and I have spent more money on lures than on my car
  4. 5 bucks isn't much. A lucky craft will set you back 15, a megabass 25 and those california guys sometimes drop a hundred plus on each swimbait. Buy it right the first time, so you don't have to buy it a second time. Also when you're punching, you better be using a heavy braid. Tie a good knot and you won't be losing that tungsten sinker very often. I've had a 3 pack of tungsten weights last me over a year of fishing. It's not a bad price because you probably aren't going to lose it.
  5. I would try a forward punch rig.
  6. ^^ Amazing how helpful this can be. Moving to a MH rod like others have said probably will help you out. But sharpening the hook would be the first, and second thing I would do.
  7. Golden Shiner? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_shiner https://www.google.com/search?q=golden+shiner&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS528US528&es_sm=93&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=BZSKU6fWDMfC8AH4v4CYCw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ
  8. Hello and welcome to the forums. I think either one of your rigs will work just fine for the hula popper. Depending on the action of your rods, you may find that the spinning will cast the popper further though.
  9. Best frog I've ever fished. It's very versatile, don't limit yourself to popping it. It walks very well, spits, chugs, and works great over vegetation. Only downside is that is a tiny bit harder to get a hook in the fish because it has a smaller butt and it takes a little bit more force to compress near the back end. Way worth it though, and if you want better hookups you should open the hooks up a tiny bit away from the body and Yiu'll get better hookups with any frog. Oh and the best color for any frog is BLACK
  10. The Rapala Original Floater is hands down the best beginner hardbait. Size: F7 Color: Silver. Something about that foiled silver and balsa action that drives fish nuts! Cast it out and twitch it/reel it/stop it/twitch it again. Vary your retrieves, if there is bass near you, they will show themselves.
  11. I see it ALL. I beat the banks most of the time, hitting up some well populated areas. The funny stuff I see people do Include but are not limited to: Using spinning rods upside down Using Thumb-cast style reels on spinning rods, or spinning reels on trigger rods Using large snap-swivels or steel leaders to attach their hook while bobber fishing for small blue gill Using a much too large a hook for the same small bluegill Bobbers rigged incorrectly/upside down My favorite is fisherman standing in one exact spot casting to the same exact spot 50 times with a gaudy chartreuse spinnerbait in gin clear water Also saw a guy fishing a buzzbait under the water (1+foot depth)the other day.
  12. Went to a lake today to check water conditions, water is clearer than expected. clear water can be found, I will have to adjust gameplan for saturday.
  13. Its been raining for 3 days and expected to rain throughout opening weekend, water has still not returned to normal levels after the snow/ice melt, wondering how much it is going to suck fishing on saturday
  14. Great prices on flies here http://www.bigyflyco.com/
  15. In my experience it is harder to backlash braid, and most of the time the line just wraps around 2 or 3 times and just stops. But if somehow you manage to get a really bad one, good luck picking it out. Probably will have to cut some. But it rarely happens, and as long as you aren't careless its nothing you should worry about.
  16. I have the older model, it is rated a MH. It is probably the same blank with a different (corrected) rating. Its a solid rod, plenty stout enough. If you have the chance, hold them in store to see which you like better.
  17. No idea what rod you are thinking of but I own a 7'6" MH vengeance specifically for flipping. It is a fine rod, and very stiff. Abu rods tend to actually run slightly heavier than most other companies' ratings. The rod I own is a little heavy (weight wise), which is expected for a lower end 7'6" but its not bad. A great rod to flip with, lots of power, and a fast action. No experience with the Shock though.
  18. I'm jelly. Good to see fish biting.
  19. I threw an a-rig in that situation last year with absolutely no success i was shocked. But, I did have better luck on a topwater bite! keep a popper and a walker that you can cast a long way rigged up.
  20. the sizes are definitely goofy. I would check them out in store before purchasing them if possible.
  21. Berkley makes bigger 5 inch versions of the Chigger Craw and Pit Boss. Those seem like they would be a good fit.
  22. Same here! The wood walker is my favorite jig.
  23. Always thread the trailer on. Even if its a chunk. I've never tried pork chunks.
