  1. Lets not forget Haloti Ngata to fill Suh's gap in Detroit! for a 4th and 5th round pick, not too shabby. Packers re-signed Bulaga to a 5-year contract about 7 million a year. Looks like Julius Thomas is going to Jacksonville, along with ex-Packer CB Devon House. Murray looks like he has committed.... to not being a cowboy haha. With Gore going to Indy, we will see if Philly and Dallas make a run for Spiller.
  2. My Walmart had vendetta's and Bucoos marked down like $1 for 7-8 months, then I showed up one day and they had a bunch of rods in the corner. Bucoos $25, vendettas $15, Vengeance $15, Daiwa Jupiters $15, KVD Crankbait rods $35. I bought (not all for myself) : 2 Vendettas, a Vengeance, 4 Daiwa Jupiters, and 1 Bucoo (should have bought the other one too). So keep a sharp eye on them!!!1
  3. I would say it easier to throw heavier lures more accurately on casting gear, for me at least. But you can throw whatever you want on spinning gear, there is no size restriction. People fish for northern pike, muskellunge, and a plethora of saltwater species with spinning gear casting MUCH larger lures than your average sized bass lure. You don't have to learn casting gear if you don't want to. It won't hinder your performance at all. Many, many anglers however, prefer casting gear for a lot reasons. In my opinion, it is easier to cast more accurately. I'm not flat out saying that casting gear is more accurate than spinning gear, but rather that is easier to be accurate with casting gear than spinning. Once you learn how to use baitcasting of course. Also, casting gear does give you more power over the fish, which can make a difference in some cases, but in most I think just feel of casting gear is more preferable here.
  4. Maybe the Fishbelly Popper Shad? Doesn't have a boot-tail though
  5. There's nothing wrong with an Abu Black Max! Yeah, it is on the lower end of the price range for baitcast reels, but it definitely does what it needs to. It casts far and is pretty good against backlashes. Black Max combo's were my first baitcasters and I still use one of the reels. A Black Max will get the job done! Good pickup, that combo will work fine for topwaters and plastics, " 7' MH " is the "all purpose rod" as it does a lot of techniques well. I would stick with Monofilament line because it is cheap. 10 or 12lb test. Look for .013 in Diameter. Mono is dirt cheap, a 220 yard spool will fill your reel 3 times and most will only cost 5 bucks or so.
  6. How many hours do anglers get to fish per day in an Elite event or Classic?
  7. I have never used a Veritas, but I own multiple Vendetta's and a Vengeance, I also own a Fenwick HMG and Eagle GT. Those two are my favorite rods I own.
  8. It is pronounced Zee-ka The jika rig was created several years ago in Japan, and in Japanese ji is pronounced like Z and ka is pronounced like kah. -http://www.in-fisherman.com/midwest-finesse/jika-rig-update/ Combining the best aspects of Texas rigging and drop-shotting, the Jika (pronounced zee-ka) rig is a bass angler's dream come true, and it has proven its effectiveness on all three species of bass in Table Rock Lake. -http://1source.basspro.com/index.php/component/k2/238-fishing-tackle/2743-the-jika-fishing-rig-a-how-to-from-bass-pro-stacey-king
  9. Those colors are really impressive, Rapala has always been hit or miss for me, Some of their lures are lights out, others I don't like the concept of. I agree with massbass that Rapala is doing a good job hyping up a regular jerkbait, but I am intrigued by the look of quality on this lure, if the price point is good, or if I find some locally on sale I might pick one up to try out.
  10. This technique works surprisingly well, maybe 60% of the time for me. Also, I would set your brakes a little bit higher on your reel until you get a little more practice in.
  11. Truer words have never been spoken when speaking in terms of bass fishing.
  12. Last fishing season opener (first Saturday of May), The water I was fishing had a lot of brown and brook trout move in, small and large, I caught a 22 inch Brown on my RC STX! That jerkbait, as well as the Xcalibur EE shad will be my got-to's this opener. But if I can find a nice swimbait or jerkbait in a brown/brook trout pattern I would definitely give it a shot. If nothing goes there, jigs are an option, maybe try a NED rig if the water is still super cold. Jerkbaits are going to be the first thing I throw this year because I have a lot of confidence in them.
  13. Don't need a swivel. Don't use a swivel.
  14. 5 Huddleston Deluxe 8 in models. Specifically the ROF 12 and 16's to help get the rig down.
  15. I hear you man, I think it is wrong to bring up "this team should have won-" kind of statements, because there are too many "what-if" type scenarios to consider. But people are going to find something to complain about no matter the outcome.
  16. I thought the ending was fitting for the game, if Marshawn Lynch had run in that touchdown, then people would be saying that the patriots should have won because of that ridiculous "catch" by Kearse.
  17. I totally agree with the first part of what you said. They were on the 2 yard line, and looking at the Patriots's formation, Lynch could have easily LOST yards on that play, which would make running it in more difficult. Also 2/3 of the Seahawks's Touchdowns were pass plays near the endzone that were so poorly covered that Seattle's Mediocre receivers made it look easy! An interception on the goal line is so unlikely that it probably doesn't even go through Carrol's mind. I think there was a greater chance that Lynch would have fumbled, than Wilson throwing that interception. It's not like Lynch hasn't done it before: This play happened right after Lynch fumbled the ball, which was recovered by the 49ers, but wasn't correctly officiated. Lynch Fumbled on back to back plays on the goal line in last year's NFC championship. As for Butler being MVP, I disagree with you. Brady threw all 4 of New England's touchdowns. If Butler had made that interception in the first quarter, this wouldn't even be a discussion. If the Pats don't score 4 touchdowns, then you are asking if Marshawn Lynch should be the MVP. In the fouth quarter, Brady was 14/16, and had a QBR of over 140 in the fourth quarter against the leagues best pass defense in a long time. Brady was perfect time and time again, in the end Brady made more plays when it counted. Yes Butler saved the day for the Pats, but if Brady hadn't taken the lead by orchestrating 2 amazing drives, then that interception wouldn't have mattered. Butler caused 1 turnover (crucial, yes) but Brady scored the 28 points needed to beat Seattle.
  18. Ice fishing can kind of suck. Knowing a buddy or relative that actively ice fishes and knows how and where to find the fish will make your experience MUCH more pleasurable. Drilling random holes almost never pans out. When I went a few years ago, I would look at topo maps and I drilled some holes on what I thought were good Locations ( deep holes, deep side of point, etc.) and I saw zero fish all day. Sometimes all it takes is a little grass on the bottom and panfish will hover over/in it with no other structure around them. Also Bluegill, crappie, and perch can often be found in the middle of lake suspending in the middle of the water column. Its hard to find where fish are.
  19. Koppers makes a baby bass. http://www.livetargetlures.com/products/freshwater/largemouth_bass.php If ya want joints, maybe try out a swimbait http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress-jointed-shad-3-1-2-swimbait/pid-22556?color=Baby+Bass&N=297679222+4294713062
  20. Well with like 90+% of shore access to many bodies of water being private land I think this would be a hard thing to do. There is just not enough room for people to spread out and fish.
  21. Yeah they do! they have a bunch on the TW website, from the makers of Wild River, Flambeau, Shimano, Okuma and TW has their own model as well.
  22. Ive caught single pieces of 2-piece rods but never a whole thing. I did however find a panfish combo in a bush near shore once a 5' cherrywood and an old shimano. At least the lures were Savable in your case!!
