  1. i'd like to add to this, the harder, the strike basically means a smaller bass, the smaller bass need to put more effort in catching prey, and since bass dont grow as big up here, i think thats why the assumption is made that northern bass are more aggressive, but dont quote me on that since ive never fished out of wisconsin
  2. skip a soft plastic under the bridge or dock or whatever that is
  3. some people need to understand that anglers today fish about 500 times more competitively now than they did years ago, do you honestly think that if you threw bill dance or roland martin in an elite series event that they would stand a ghost of a chance? i dont think so. they probably shouldnt be ranked as high imo.. and this toss-up between vandam and skeet, i think to be fair that vandam would rank higher for what he has done, but for the most part i think skeet is a better angler. when it boils down to versatility, skeet takes the cake...we all know that kevin can fish a crankbait, but that usually accounts for all his wins now, skeet on the other hand won an elite series event, on a swimbait, finished 2nd by a mere ounce by flipping, also finishe 2nd at fort gibson on a football jig and a crankbait, the lake guntersville event was also won by reese, he fished a rc 3.5 then, so vandam isnt the only who can crank up the bass, and that was all this season!! he also won last years classic on a spinnerbait and a crawbait, hes from california, which almost automatically makes him a good finnesse fisherman. skeet has also been VERY consistent these past few seasons, he won the 2007 aoy, and wouldve won the past two years (this last won he would have blew out of the water) if it werent for the new postseason, final answer; best of ALL TIME: KVD best RIGHT NOW: Skeet Reese
  4. well he says that he forces inactive fish to bite by aggrivating them by running the lure by their faces give or take a million times. i guess spinnerbaits just dont pissoff bass the way cranks do. ;D
  5. steel will work great for carolina rigging, because with steel, you get almost as much sensitivity, and its louder, other than that youll be better off with tungsten.
  6. how far do you plan on casting that small, basically weightless worm on a heavy casting outfit?
  7. Last march I dove 10ft down into muddy 56 degree water and ripped a brush stump out of the bottom to retrieve a swimbait. I didnt have a change of clothes, i finished the day. For the win. sorry 5lb, he has got you beat ;D
  8. finesse worms (like a trick worm) are the best lure for catching numbers of fish, and senkos too every size is good, but for senkos 3" is best, wacky rig them or weightless t-rig w/ a 1/0 offset round bend hook
  9. i am having a pretty horrible year, the fish to your left is the biggest one i caught all year, and im pretty sure its under 3 pounds!!
  10. the postseason is total
  11. X2 on this, id spend it on line, and teminal tackle seems more of a drag to buy, (Yes! i just bought a Spro BBZ-1 shad for twenty bucks! ;D) (well, i just spent twenty bucks to fill up one reel with flouro... :-/) its just not the same, is it? i mean buying that hummer H3 and driving it around the block to show it off would be alot of fun, putting gas in it? not so much.
  12. Also, if you guys havent seen the Icast 2010 videos on Tackle WareHouse.com then GO TO IT.... i mean im sitting here at 1:00 A.M. having...tackle..orgasms! seeing all this new wicked stuff! ;D
  13. My guess is that they are bass. i see them all the time leaping at dragonflies, bass of all sizes too, i catch them with a med light spinning rod and a small finesse worm, weightless t-rigged with a 1/0 offset round bend hook, make sure you have light line to launch that worm, good colors are something to match the d-flies, something kinda blue-brown-black, so black/blue or okeechobee craw, or junebug are good colors. my favorite worms for this are strike king elaztech super finesse worms (4-inch) because, they actually float. you should look for jumps or boils or whatever before you cast, and then cast near them ( but not right top of them) i think u should cast side-arm, so that the worm looks more like a d-fly buzzing over the surface, and the strike should come pretty quick after he worm touches the water. if u don't get bit, make a couple of twitches then pause, if still no bites, reel in for another cast. ( i have also tried sticking a jig's weed-guard strand thru the bait to mimic legs, and that worked ok.) hope they're bass, good luck.
  14. Spro came out with a new swimbait and im excited about it! It measures 2 1/2 inches, and weighs 1/4 ounce. it looks awesome! ;D ;D :) ;D
  15. watermelon or green pumpkin with black flake SENKO Luckycraft Pointer 78 color-ghost minnow or misty shad berkely poured finesse worm color- anything natural rapala skitterwalk- bluegill beaver style lure w/craw legs like gander mountain beaver- color- anything natural

Big Tom wrote on Yesterday at 9:50pm: You are doing better than me, dude. Nice job on the eleven. Do you have any pictures? I don't fish cranks as much as I should. When I do, I usually find myself throwing a Lucky Craft RC 1.5. I do have a picture, but its on my phone and I have to figure how get it on the computer you either have to remove the sd card from your phone and into your computer. (if you have an sd card, make sure that you move the picture onto the sd card, bcuz some phones dont ave it autoatically) OR you would have to find a USB cable that will fit in your phone. ;D
  18. i try to use harbaits but you cant skip a crankbait- plastics are also way more versitile, i just tie on a 3/0 hook and grab a pocketful of varied plastics, and down the bank i go.
  19. it would be xraps in rapalas bluegill and yellow perch, colors, theyre waay better than the colors offered in the xraps.
  20. i have 2 black maxes, i bought these before they came with a flippin switch, and well they cost like 40-50 or something, i have had a few problems with one of the reels but it was fixed shortly, they dont cast as far as i'd like them to. but they are cheap and they get the job done.
  21. Gatorade, and COOKIES!!!... cookies win classics
  22. you might want to try drop shotting a more realistic craw bait if you havent already, like the lake fork fork craw gander mountain also sells its identical version.
  23. if the water is clear, use a flouro leader, and downsize your lure and weight, like changing up from a big jig&craw on 50lb braid, to maybe a zoom critter craw or a RI smallie beaver with a 3/16-3/8 ounce weight, with a flouro leader--or just use flouro entirely...the pros do
  24. my dad is a horrible fisherman and will lob a huge lure on his ml spinning rod and let it crash down on the surface, gets annoying, and even when i catch alot of fish he'll just say that the fish wernt biting, thats a little more annoying
