  1. im your # and what days your available and we can hook up. there is a lake on camp blanding called lowry .its only open on limited basis. usually good for 50+ a day.most will be small but i have already heard of one over 10 in the past few weeks. ive also been goin over to orange lake s. of gainesville and gettin 40 or more up to 5 lbs. on a few .dont know what the cold has done to them though.
  2. do you have a boat or are looking to hook up w/ someone. i can show you several places close to you that has good numbers.
  3. fbk, you can get the speed worms at any walmart.use a 3/0 ewg gammy.i have one rod weightless that i buzz it on top like a frog and another that i put a large swivel on about 18'' of line and swim it thru the grass slowly. glad you caught a nice chunk on the tiny torpedo, thats alot of fun on top. i thought about goin to lochlossa sat, but too many speck fisherman.may get over there this week. we went to orange and caught over 40 bass but only two over 15'' slot.i heard of some big uns caught rippin traps thru the grass in macintosh bay. as for the frogs.a5/0 gammy ewg superline hook is best but a 4/0 will work just fine.in most instances the horny toad will catch as many bass as a ribbitt, but its good to have and use both.an inherent problem w/ plastic toads is it wants to flip upside down ,but if you just give it a little pull and then let it rest a sec. it will right itself.w/ a little practice it wont be a issue.if your not usein braid for toads you need to.that will increase your hook ups and you'll put more in ther boat.if they get you down in the hydrilla mono wont get them out unless you go to em. if i have bass slappin at the toad i always follow up w/ the torpedo, most times it will get short strikers.as does the speedworm.
  4. try it you might like it.
  5. i fish the n. end mostly.call and talk to gary simpson at the tackle box (352-372-1791)he has a weekly fishin report from lochloosa.a report last week said some big fish from the s.e. corner.im goin to orange sat.i had a 5,3,and 3-2+ tues. afternoon on speed worms.i fish the toad yr. round but when the water cools down the bite is spottier.the smaller profile baits do better.the wat, red pearl is a killer color in lochloosa.i fish the horny toad but the ribbit can sometimes in cooler water work better.if you get those slaps but not hook ups go to a speed worm,im tellin you it will put them in the boat.tip:when you feel the bite it will feel like theyre mouthin it ,just quit reelin and let the rod load up before settin the hook. the zoom ole monster in watermelon has been doin good also. i use it to discourage the dinks but they will still bite it just not as readily. another bait that works good there is a tiny torpedo.throw it out between the hydrilla patches give it a few short quik jerks and let it sit.
  6. fbk352,i fish lochloosa and orange alot.to answer your Q,i dont think a spro type would of made the difference.there are several factors ,1-there are lots of small bass in the grass right now and the bait is to big (for the most part)im having much better success w/ a zoom ultravibe speed worm buzzed across the top and a producto buzz tail shad .these are smaller profiles but catch big fish. i use wat. red mostly.if you stay w/ the frog change colors, again wat. red is the most versatile color in thiose lakes as is junebug.the ribbit is a smaller profile frog and may result in better hook ups this time of yr.i throw the frog alot but this time of yr. it doesnt produce as well as other times of the yr.the super fluke is doing really good in the hydrilla also.
  7. i know back in the 80's it was considered a big bass lake .i was told the lake record was 17+ lbs. at one time my cousin ran a time share resort out of king and holly and they produced hugh bass every yr.
  8. zomm trick worm or finess worm in black.deadstick it for as long as you can.use enough weight to get it to bottom and keep it there.
  9. i use them for the action the flippers give off.never felt there was a need to alter it. but what ever floats your boat.doesnt hurt to try!
  10. zoom ultravibe speed worm.i use it from top to bottom and fast to deadsticked. buzz it on top like a buzzbait, swim it under the surface,t-rigged,c-rigged, as a trailer, flipped and i even pinch the tail off and its a senko style bait that i can even wacky rig. i catch more bass yr. rd. on a speed worm than any other bait.
  11. to try and answer your ?. lunar phases affects fish behavior and moods.it has nothing to do w/ when you should or shouldnt go fishing.to be aware of the present lunar phase and adjust baits and techniques accordingly will most definitely give you a better chance of out smarting and catching your prey.
  12. the c-rig is a good cold water presentation because you can work it slow and it is a bottom bait which is where the bass will be most of the time.down size baits and pause 30 sec. or more between pulls, dont pull far or fast.the other thing to consider when useing a c-rig is location.deep points ,drops, holes.
  13. zoom dont make any junk and will out fish most other brands including sk.the dead ringer is an excellent pitchin and flippin bait.in the hands of someone who knows how to use it will put big fish in the boat.
  14. if you mean launch. still the only safe launch is heaggy-burry on the s. end s. of macintosh in the community of orange lake.
  15. got to lake at 2:30 the front was just passing thru.overcast w/ not much wind w/in 30 min. the sky cleared and the wind picked up strong outta the north. i ran to n. end behind spoil islands and found them chompin.unfortunately they were most 10-12'' dinks.i tried and caught fish on everything i threw. mag.11 speed worms, zoom ole monsters, heddon baby torpedo, and a rattle trap.biggest was a little over 2 lbs.about 5:30 i ran down to cross creek and they were just as willing.i finised throwin a horny toad in the matted hydrilla .bass were bustin all over, but they were leary of the toad.i suspected most were small fish.i had numerous blow ups but only about 6 hook ups.again the biggest being around 2 lbs. i did have a 3+ come outta the water on a toad but didnt take it.i coulda tried something different but i was after the big boys that live in that grass. wound up w/ 16 in 4 hrs. and coulda had way more if i wanted to play w/ the smaller fish.
  16. http://www.fomntt.com/ fishers of men legacy series is a great trail.so.fla. has a legacy trail and also a sr./jr. division in their tx. trail.first class all the way.
  17. i buy everything i can from tw.orders over $50.00 free ship and usually 5 days and always on the day they say.you can track delivery online.
  18. its one of the situations you have to deal w/ as a non boater.it happens all the time .sometimes you get front ended on purpose sometimes it just happens. you can demean yourself and get down on their level or learn how to adapt to every situation.the main thing is to understand the possibilities goin in and you wont be as disappointed.remember, its the same for all non-boaters,so make the best of the hand your dealt and try to adapt to catch a fish. i can assure you that in any difficult situation if you will it can make you a better non boater.even from the jerks!
  19. depending on the time of yr. now...the main river channel is where you'll find the bigger fish and creeks.if you have a gps finding the intersections or bends arent that hard.w/o its kinda tricky.you can criss cross the stump field untill you find the drop off and work from there.what your lookin for is stumps in the bends and especially if they have grass on them. about a mth. ago the area all around deep creek bridge was holdin some good fish, dont know about now,but worth a look. the area just in front of the dam can be hot ,c-rig the shell beds where it comes up from 25+' to 15'.still will be some schoolers just s. of the dam at times. it wont be long and they will start to migrate toward the coves and feeder creeks.the power line area will start to heat up if it already hasnt.
  20. overpriced foreign bling!
  21. impoundments have different characteristics than natural lakes when it comes to changing conditions.natural lakes are always in a metomorphis, evolving and changing w/ conditions.fish habits and even population changes from yr. to yr. and so does the fisherman.natural lakes have more defined cycles that can last longer.some never get back to where they once were some rebound quiker.impoundments seem to change w/ age but are more predictable and adaptable. ive noticed the same on some of the natural lakes we have tx. on in past drought yrs. it would take 15-20lbs. now w/ full lakes 10+.they arent on the same structure and not in the cover for extended periods or concentrated as much, so are harder to find and catch.
  22. NO!there is way too much bacteria in the waters to put anything in your mouth.
