This is turning into an epidemic!! I hope yall both will be back soon :'(
  2. Yes, if you put to much stress on the fish's lower jaw it can seriously damage the fish's mouth.
  3. Throw a big bulky flipping jig in a bright color with a LOUD rattle over there and just shake it and shake it right in his face. Eventually he'll get so mad that he'll just eat it.
  4. I suggest you fish shallow/deep water transition areas, such as drop-offs, ledges, and steep banks. Try a combination of jigs, carolina rigged brush hogs, and spinnerbaits. For jigs I suggest a 3/8oz. casting model in a dark color like black/blue or black/purple with a matching trailer. Be sure that the jig has a good rattle system on it though. For the c-rig I suggest a 1/2oz. weight with 2 glass beads for better sound, for the hogs I suggest dark colors like blueberry, and sapphire blue. For the spinnerbait I suggest a 3/8oz. or 1/2oz. model with a big indiana blade and a smaller colorado blade, use a slow rolling retrieve. For colors I suggest white, white/chart, and chart.

I usually tie flies and hair jigs. I use several different materials depending on the action I am looking for. For example, if I am looking for and ultra realistic action with a slow fall I will use a combination of marabou, CDC, and bucktail. But if I need a jig that has a fast fall and a realistic breathing action I will use bucktail and CDC feathers. I will also tie some flashabou in their to give it some flash appeal. Basically you must use a variety of different materials to achieve certain actions, and you'll eventually find that one combo that just plain works.
  6. 1. 5/16oz. brown/crawfish jig with matching trailer 2. long pitches, slow methodical retrieve 3. 6ft. 4. Steep clay banks 5. old laydown trees and roots Instinct
  7. Sometimes they just don't follow the rules
  8. I just realized this weekend that I am one of "those people". The people that whenever they hook into a real biggun they lose it right at the boat. I hooked into a 6+ fish yesterday and lost it right at the boat. Now when I look back I realize that I have lost numerous fish estimated to be bigger than my pb right at the boat and tell you what man it aint no fun being one of "those people" :'(
  9. I typically use a 6-weight 9ft. rod with a weight forward floating line and I love throwing a particular pattern called the Dahlburg Diver. When you strip it real hard it dives under the surface and floats back up, it makes a very loud popping noise and drives 'em crazy. I also like tossing clouser minnows and crazy charlies for the deeper fish
  10. I've noticed that bass flyfisherman are a dying breed nowadays. And I was wondering are they're any other flyanglers on here? If so what's yer favortie pattern and technique?
  11. I can see it now: "Low Budget Hookers Bait Company, Where you don't have to be loaded to get some action" ;D ;D ;D ;D
  12. He's the undeniable force that drives you to BUY, BUY, BUY!!! He's the one that makes you buy all of those rods and reels and bait after bait. I think Raul was the one who created the baitmonkey, thanks a lot man
  13. I really like the looks of those crankbaits.
  14. This depends very much on the current conditions and time of year, but let's just say it's a warm June morning with overcast skies and a slight ripple on the water. Early morning: I'd start out with a walking bait like a sammy or skitterwalk and cast it around shallow grass cover and weeds. I would also alternate between a Fluke twitched near the surface and a buzzbait thrown around any shallow cover. Midday: Let's say the wind kicks up a little and the sun comes out. I would back off the bank a little and start throwing a double willow blade spinnerbait and a crankbait around wood cover in 4-7ft. of water. I would also try pitching a jig to steep banks with laydowns and stumps and casting a t-rigged worm around stumps. Evening: The wind has died down and the sun is going down. I will be throwing a shallow diving crankbait "waked" on the surface, reeled so slowly that it just wobbles along the surface. I would cast that and a weightless senko around any shallow cover.
  15. Schweeeet idea LBH, I would get a hooded sweatshirt and a couple T's.
  16. Always try a big heavy spinnerbait with a slow retrieve, but other than that I suggest heavy football head jigs and suspending jerkbaits.
  17. Sure, if it supports the department of game and fish then I think it's worth it.
  18. Anything gold, gold rat-l-traps, gold spinnerbaits, and another very underutilized bait for Toho is a gold shallow running suspending jerkbait. Don't forget your heavy flipping gear either.
  19. I love smallie fishing in the local rivers, specifically the James. I like fishing in the summer so I can wade in the river, I normally use a 6' or 6'6" medium action spinning rod with 8-10lb. fluorocarbon line. I love getting vicious topwater strikes on Rapala skitter pop's but I also like tossing pumpkin/orange GYCB grubs on a 1/4oz. head, dragging small YUM tubes in green/pumpkin on a 1/4oz. head, bouncing small Terminator finesse jigs across the bottom, and flinging small jerkbaits like the LC Pointer 65 and 78 and the Smithwick Limited Rogue. I also enjoy flyfishing for smallies in the smaller creeks and rivers.
  20. Watermelon/Red is my favorite and most productive color.
  21. Well, if you don't mind scalding hot temperatures I would have to say central Florida, but if I had to choose I would go to Guntersville, Alabama which is really a no-brainer because Lake Guntersville is right there and it is pretty secluded.
  22. I think it is legit through and through, without it we wouldn't have that magical mark to shoot for.
  23. The Hawaii state record smallmouth is 3-7 And I have also lied to the girlfriend and walked 13 miles with my buddy.
