  1. I kinda doubt an 8lb. cat ate a 5lb. bass though. Either he's dead, maybe from disease or age, or he's just a really smart one
  2. DUDE!!! with a 10 weight :o :o I'd be lucky to nail a 60 foot with a 6 weight...
  3. dude that was AWESOME!!!! I hope I can make it into the next one.
  4. If you asked me cancelling loudmouth bass was a huge mistake, I loved that show, and now Basscenter. It seems like somebody is trying to make Bass saturday suck completely. IMO that skit with Wolak was hilarious, that's why I loved loudmouth bass, Zona and Kumar did some hilarious stuff.
  5. Since you are drop-shotting this jig, most of your bites will probably be characterized by a light thump from a bass slowly picking up the bait. However, sometimes a bass will grab it and swim off with it, in this case the bait will just get heavier and you will see your line moving. So if you feel anything different set the hook. Good luck.
  6. I prefer pitching jigs to shallow wood cover, like stumps, laydowns, and cypress trees. I also like fishing long mainlake points and creek channels.
  7. Very nice baits whittler, and some very interesting shapes. Do you find that a cb with an odd shape such as the top right one in the picture help you more or bigger fish? Do you think that the difference in vibrations might cause a reaction strike?
  8. I vary my retrieves according to season and water temperature. In the spring when the water temps are rising I will work my t-rigged worm aggressively with sharp jerks of the rod. However, in the heat of summer when the bass become more and more inactive I will rig up a trick worm and slowly drag it across the bottom to catch stubborn bass. Then in the fall when the water temps cool and the action picks up again I will rig up a white or pearl colored worm and work it very aggressively across the bottom to imitate a dying shad. Then in the cold of winter I will rig up a shaky head with a 4 inch finesse worm and work it VEEEEERY slowly across the bottom.
  9. The local boys like John Crews, and Rick Morris. But I also pull for good ole Gerald Swindle, he is a great guy and can catch some fish.
  10. Don't do it, don't even consider it. Basically all you get is the ability to watch short little instructional videos and browse the Bassmaster archives, things you used to be able to do for free BASS needs to give their members a little more, instead of making us pay for every little thing. Don't waste your money on this, instead use all that saved $$$ to feed the baitmonkey
  11. My family has a rich history of fishing, mostly on my dad's side. My dad grew up on Long Island, NY and my grandfather would take him and my uncle saltwater fishing from the shore all the time. My dad then moved to Denver, CO and got into trout fishing. He then moved to Cleveland, OH and was BIG into walleye fishing out on Lake Erie. I think he actually took my brother out there a couple times when he was only like 9 months old. But then he moved to Mechanicsville, VA and got into crappie and catfishing. I have fond memories of my dad and me sittin on the dock down on the lake, tossing slip bobber rigs for crappie and going ngiht fishing for channel cats. It was actually me that got my dad into bass fishing, I subscribed to Bassmaster a couple years ago and got very into bass fishing. So he bought a jonboat so I could go bass fishing and he eventually started going with me and started catching bass, now he's almost as obsessed with it as me. However, there is a problem, I never see my dad nowadays. He works as an aircraft mechanic at the airport and ever since 9/11 he's been getting paycut after paycut, he is now forced to work 2 jobs at the airport, he pulls 36 and 48 hour shifts. I haven't even seen him since last Sunday, let alone go fishing with him...
  12. Yo-yoing a lipless crankbait in deep grassbeds is also a very effective technique.
  13. I find the fishing to be most productive during the periods of incoming, high tide, and outgoing tide. IMO the only real unproductive times would be during dead low tide or a slack tide.
  14. Why did I guess that? :-? Good luck with it! 8-) I'll answer this question right after I receive my challenge in the Member's Challenge contest! Lucky guess
  15. I'm not a big fan of Carolina rigging, I have a hard time feeling bites and I don't really have the patience for it.
  16. Here's a couple of mine
  17. I'd love to fish with anyone from this board, we could all probably learn a little something from everyone. However, I think a day on the lake with LBH would be pretty schweeeeet.
  18. That is a beautiful rig Fish Cris, you did an awesome job on that thing!!!
  19. Thanks for the tips RLinNH, will do
  20. thanks guys, I'm really pumped to have this thing. We checked all the parts and everything and fired up the outboard yesterday, everything looked and went fine. But I am gonna follow yalls advice and get a couple people to look at it just to make sure everything is in good running condition. Thanks again
  21. Me and my dad have been looking for a slightly larger boat replace our 14' jon boat for a while now and we were becoming very frustrated with the lack of good boats at reasonable prices. But then we stumbled across a 1996 Bass Tracker Pro 17 with a 40hp Mercury Tracker outboard for $4000 in the Trading Post. We drove down there to look at it and after talking to the owner for a while we found out that it had less than 25 hours on it, heck the outboard prop didn't have a scratch on it. The boat itself and everything on it looks brand new, even the carpet looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. The only problem I have with it though, is it only has a 30lb. thrust trolling motor, but I can always get new trolling motor I guess. I can't wait to take this thing for a cruise!!!
  22. Get you a big black jitterbug, by far IMO the best nightbait ever made...Other than that, however, I also like tossing black spinnerbaits with huge colorado blades and big black jigs.
  23. Ever heard of the wet noodle rig?... :-?...I picked this up from Mike Ike at Bassmaster University, it's a drop-shot rig with wacky-rigged worm, but the trick is to not move it at all, just throw it out there and let it sit on a taught line. The current makes the worm quiver in place and drives bass crazy.
  24. i wish i still had a homelake... :-[
  25. I do that a lot, for several reasons. For example, if i am cleanin'em up on spinnerbait I might switch to a jig to pick up a few extra, and maybe bigger fish. Because fish get conditioned to certain lures so you cant just keep chuckin and chuckin the same bait, you gotta show em somethin a little different. Also if a 5 inch senko is producing a lot of keeper size fish then i might switch to a 7 inch senko to upgrade my catch.
