  1. I love fly fishing, especially on top. I love to fish for Bass and panfish. Tie my own. Go for it! And I haven't tried an A rig. Being from Miss State, I can't use anything with the A word in it.
  2. I cannot make a senko work. I have only caught a couple with midwest finesse. Maybe my water is too stained? I generally do well with worms and ok with jigs.
  3. We post a lot about favorite techniques, difficult techniques, etc. What have you just never tried? For me, it is c-rig, drop shot, whopper plopper, walk the dog,, fluke.
  4. I fish from a kayak. I keep my Elastec stuff in a finder. I put terminal Tackle in a small divided box in the inside zippered compartment in the binder. For other stuff I use a shoulder bag that holds 3 3700 boxes. Remove the shoulder strap before putting in the kayak. Put (stick hooks into) wet lures on a piece of pool noodle when I change out, to dry.
  5. The shape looks like a Spike it, but the color is not one I can find.
  6. My Fenwick Eagle M is a lighter action than my BPS, or Abu, if that helps.
  7. Funny. I would not have done any worse last Saturday
  8. Down here, ice goes in your glass. We don't have ice out, lol. However, I have never thrown a c rig, got to try it. The bottom is mucky. I have been throwing weightless worms
  9. I read Mike Iconelli has a panic box for when he is in trouble. Do you guys carry a "panic box", and if you do, what is in it?
  10. Anything with a treble hook.
  11. Knowing me, I will try this.
  12. Like Tom said, I always thought junk fishing was throwing jigs or punch baits in the slop. I guess I am old.
  13. This summer, when the heat and humidity nears 100, we will hate you. Right now, though, life is pretty good.
  14. I am currently putting together a finesse box, so this is timely for me. I have some 2 inch grubs with 1/8 - 1/4 oz ball jigs. Small, 2 inch boot tail storm shad type baits, some Luck E Strike 4 inch curl tail worms, Zoom finesse worms, split shot rigs, some slider rigs, beetle spins, large size. Variety of Ned rig stuff. I use 8 lb fireline with 6 lb maxima leader on a M Ugly stick spinning rod with a Pfluger Trion reel. I have several spinning rods, but this one is the most sensitive and accurate to me. I am careful to keep Elastec in a separate bag. I also have arthritis which makes fishing with a BC tough on some days.
  15. I appreciate this extensive discussion. I learned a lot. I think it should be pinned.
  16. Do you tack them down before cutting, and do you use a straight edge? Could probably throw them on a fly rod, weightless.
  17. I just rearranged my tackle. I put my Elastec stuff In binders and everything else in plano type boxes by type of bait, and labeled them. In this way I hopefully can keep my Ned rig stuff from melting my other plastics. That was a mess!
  18. I tie flies and Crappie jigs, so I am confident that I can tie hair jigs for bass. 1. What style jighead do you use? 2. Do you tie with a weedguard? 3. What weight? It seems that this could be finesse, or not. 4. When do you decide to use them over a silicone jig? I saw A J's post and think those look fishy. However, is this a clear water bait? It seems that they would work where Crappie jigs work. I have some Uncle Josh pork frogs I was going to try wit them..
  19. This made me think. If I am in thick stuff, I probably land only 70 percent.
  20. I usually start and end with a weedless trick worm. Weight to suit. If fairly clear, use watermelon red flake or green pumpkin. If stained to muddy, I go with Junebug or Candybug. When things get warmer, use more action like a creature or curly tail up to u vibe worm.
  21. I fish the same way, and I am 60, too. Coincidence?
  22. I have everything in plano boxes. I have hooks in one and jighead/swimbaits in one. I use "bead boxes" from the Walmart craft section. Divide plastics by type. I have been working on this today, oddly enough. I obviously should be on Zoom's Christmas card list.
  23. I may be simple minded but for braid use a heavy hook i.e., superline. For mono and fluro, I lighten up. I mostly fish braid in the slop.
