  1. Hey guys, I figured this question has already been answered a few times but I could not find it after searching the forum. In any event, is it possible to put the Winch handles on a Revo SX. I have 2 '10 SX models (with red), but I am not a huge fan of the shorter handles that come on these reels. Any advice, including where I can find Winch replacement handles, is much appreciated.

  3. Vinny, you say best during spring. What are the ideal water temps you key on?
  4. I hear it makes a nice trailer for a chatterbait
  5. For topwater: Rage frog (lots of water displacement) or Eeliminator (less water displacement)
  6. Maybe if you put Megastrike on your nails before you get the done they will stay on longer too?!
  7. Slap me with a 25% discount?! ABSOLUTELY!! Slap me all you would like!! Haha
  8. Quantum Reax/ Powell Max 7'2' swimjig rod
  9. I didn't mean to say that you can't catch fish with cheap spinnerbaits, just that quality spinnerbaits may last longer. Also, the difference between the cheaper bearings that can be found on some and the nice ball bearing swivels cannot be underestimated. The better the bearing, the more twist and turning the blade will have in the water. But this doesn't mean that cheap ones all have bad parts, just as all expensive ones aren't made up to par. From what I hear, the northstar spinnerbaits, as with all their products, are amazing.
  10. Even if a fish is shaking its head and throwing up a good fight, will a pegged weight really give it any leverage? I under stand that weight in general gives fish leverage, but when that weight is above the hook isn't leverage really a non-issue? The way I think about it is that the only leverage the fish will have is the hook, as any additional leverage is lost where the hook is tied to the line. Accordingly, when a fish fights and shakes its head the weight that is pegged above the knot will have no effect of giving the fish leverage, right? I understand this would be alot different if this was one of those setups where the hook and sinker are all one.
  11. Keep up the good work!
  12. So the skirt is connected to the body of the plastic? So what happens when the pincher gets "stolen"... Must make an entire new one? Not trying to nitpick, just spinning my wheels a bit bc I really like it!
  13. Is there also some "hair" on the pinchers? Looks nice! Did you mend the creature body and craw pinchers with plastics glue?
  14. As a side note, who all fishes their t-rig's "unpegged." I have always heard that this is a better presentation because the fish will not feel the weight when they bite. Is there any truth to this assertion? I have almost exclusively fished pegged baits, but if there is an advantage I would certainly like to know Of course, this is something I would only try in open-water scenarios.
  15. Try tungsten weights maybe? They are a bit smaller and should get through "stuff" easier. But it don't sound like size is an issue (as you don't get hung w. crigs or jigs) so maybe it is the amount of weight being used. Out of three, I've often found Texas rigging to be less likely to produce snags. Unless you are "exposed"
  16. Noooo you can't do that
  17. I have to check this thread when my g.f. Is looking away.. She already thinks i would choose a bucket mouth over her.. Now if she see's that I am reading 'my favorite beaver' posts on here..
  18. Great video, but if you notice at the end the fish being caught are not even being caught on the bait being advertised (the last two appear to be caught on a tube and a jig, respectively). In any event, I think the baits look good and just like any other paddle tail/small swimming worm. I have had more luck, not as a "swim bait," but more of a senko style bait. These worms do have swimming style action, but not quite the action you look for in a casting-style swim bait. But for fishing laydowns, brush piles, docks, or anything of that variety, skip one of these along in the place of a regular senko and hold on.
  19. Lol... I was being dramatic, but thanks for the good math
  20. Dunno if I wasn't using the right knot or just got the right batch, but I purchased the BPS fluoro 2 years ago and spooled my flipping and pitching rods. My first tournament with the line I broke the first 6 fish off, directly at the knot and upon hookset. I am a bit of a "power" setter, but I have never had near this problem with other fluro's, e.g., seagur (either kind), yozuri hybrid, or yozuri H20. While I am on the topic, has Yozuri H20 quadrupled in price since last year? I seem to recall buying a spool for 8-9 (similar to what you would pay for that of hybrid), and now tackle warehouse is asking nearly $18. ?!?!
  21. First and foremost, thanks to everyone who took time to contribute and give some GREAT advise. Sorry I haven't been on since my original post, but I was not in town until this morning. But as I am looking over everything and making plans for each setup I am sure I will have some more questions. On a side note, has anyone tried the new Lake Fork flurocarbon? It seems to be relatively inexpensive compared to most others. Also, I am glad to see so many firm believers in Yozuri Hybrid line, as this has been one of my favorites over the years. Does the Yozuri "soft" make a good difference for spinning combos? I have read that it does and given the feedback above I am assuming this is pretty accurate. Thanks again everyone!!
  22. It seems that every year I find myself making a big fuss about line prices (and, from my opinion, rightfully so). My goal, as with other areas of my fishing disease, is to achieve good quality without breaking the bank. I also acknowledge that, out of all the other gadgets and components, fishing line is without a doubt the most important. Okay, so what to use? Here are the setups that I am looking to spool: Casting rigs: Crank rod (smaller cranks, 1/4oz - 3/8oz) Jig rod (bigger jigs 7/16oz - 3/4oz) Smaller jig rod/ Swim jig rod (1/8oz - 5/16) Worm/pitching rod (1/8oz-5/16oz) C-rig rod (3/8-1/2oz) Topwater (mostly, buzzbaits 3/8 oz) i have left a few out, but that is because I already picked out the line that I want for them (ex., frog rod) Spinning rigs: Shakey head/drop shot rod Senko rod Any advice as to brand/test would be greatly appreciated, as would some suggestions of economically efficient line
  23. not a problem.. i love to find good deals, and I appreciate when fellow bassers pass them along 8-)
