DT Flat
I don't think they can be beat, especially from some of the tougher bites we get up here in northern Ohio were a tight wobble is required!

DT Flat
The bait monkey seems to live in Cabela's bargain cave. It is simply too hard to resist Rapala cranks at $4 a pop, to bad they are completely sold out of the sure set's as well. Oh well, just thought I'd pass on a good sale!

Crank Storage
I was just wondering what type of storage devices people were using for their cranks, especially cranks with a larger frame or longer bill. I have a smaller crank box that holds my smaller crank baits (shallow divers and small profiled square bills), but my med- to deep-diving crank baits are kind of a mess. Any good suggestions as to brands? Also, I have an aluminum boat, so I need something that is relatively good at repelling nature's conditions (as some of my products are Falcon organizers). Thanks in advance!

Cabela's has some of its Rapala FT Flat's for an insanely low price (3.99). I just ordered 15 and thought I should pass the word along

Yo-Zuri Hybrid questions
I ask myself two questions with my fishing line: (a) is it abrasion resistant; and ( how tough/good of knot will it hold. For both of these reasons, you cannot beat yo zuri. If your looking for something inexpensive and without all the headaches that come with some of the more expensive fluoro's, get some Yo-zure. I have yet to meet a fish that told me it didn't like to bite the lure at the end because of the yo-zuri that it was tied too

Vertical Lures " Jig X " Jigs
Call me stupid but how in the H!#!$!% do you tie these?

Rapala DT Fat's
Vinny, your posts are always informative! While were on the topic, what other cranks do you suggest for a more tight wobble? I am trying to become more proficient of a cranker this season, as last season I found myself holding my jig rod far too often (too often only because they WEREN'T BITING it)

Rapala DT Fat's
Rangerphil, where are you ordering these from? Any place ever have them on sale, or you just taking the near $9 hit per crank? :'(

Rapala DT Fat's
Any opinions? I am trying to detremine if they are worth the extra few bucks, as compared to some of the other lower priced square billed cranks (Bomber, Luck E Strike, Bandit) Oh yes, I thought a non-what-was-KVD-using post would be something new

Compre and Claurus
As much as I "plug" shimano's clarus line of rods I should get compensated. But I think I have 5 of them in total, and absolutely love them. I also have cumara's and powell rods, but have not found a good enough reason to get rid of the clarus's. Additionally, they come with one of the best warranties in the game!

bps reel trade in
I have always assumed that these traded-in reels were going to the kids, am I wrong?

Palomar Knot?
Perfectly stated. Some lines are more accepting a parlmor knot and you may get away with a line twist before looping it over your bait. On other lines, this may cause you headaches! Again, most fluro's are accepting of the knot, so long as you are careful "knot" to break the two rules above. However, I had an incident with BPS Fluro one day that ended in me stripping brand new line of 4 reels in the middle of the lake because I kept breaking fish off at the knot.

Which of these 3 ~$80 casting rods would you buy and why?
DING DING DING DING!!! You really can't go wrong with a Shimano rod, whether it is the Compre or a Clarus. I own a number of the Clarus rods (5 or 6) and I can honestly say that I enjoy fishing these rods as much as some of my Powell's or even my Cumara's. As for your length, I know from personal experience that Clarus makes a 7' MH w/ an extra fast tip. This rod is AMAZING action, and it is extremely versitle-- it can be used for nearly anything, from cranking bigger cranks to flipping jigs or worms. And with the $10 off through TW, you cant go wrong! 8-) Oh ya, did I mention Shimano's warranty? Bar none, one of the best and easiest companies to swap out broken rods with. IMO

What to do with old reels?
2 good options. (1) Hang on to the reels until Bass Pro's classic special where they give you money (i think like $25) towards a new reel with the donation of an old reel; or (2) just DONATE IT!! I remember as a youngster I had a Zebco 303 with a broken thumb release and 5 year old fishing line... thought I was the luckiest kid in the world

Reel Cleaning
Just as a heads up before I start calling, what is an average price that I can expect to pay? I have roughly 10 or so casting reels and 3-4 spinning reels in need of a good clean and lube. Thanks again!

Reel Cleaning
Hey all, I am interested in finding someone (someplace) that does good work cleaning/oiling reels. I know that there are a number of places out there that advertise their services, but does anyone know a place, from personal experience, word of mouth, etc., that has a good reputation of this? I am in Ohio, and I am looking primarily for cleaning/oiling of all my casting reels. Thanks in advance.

fishing a local tourney in johnboat
fish tournaments out of my 14' aluminum boat all the time. i think everyone starts out in an aluminum boat, so dont be discouraged as I seriously doubt that people will make too many comments. and for those who do, who cares!! As to the livewell issue, it isn't too difficult at all. go to a marina or something and they should have a either a pump which you can run from the back of your boat. as for the livewell itself, get yourself an old cooler and run the pump line, a drain, and an overflow from the cooler. you will run into a number of alternatives-- i.e. timers, draining alternatives, etc. but this will get you started so you start fishing tournys. As for the disappearing problem, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Wv/Ky lakes-- HELP NEEDED!!
As far as what im looking to so far: Cedar Creek Lake, KY Stonewall Jackon Lake, WV ;D These are just a few that I found are not too large but still offer quality bass fishing. Any Lake from the 2,500 acre sized and smaller would be ideal. If anyone could help, it would be amazing!!

putting in a boat alone
take your time!! the biggest mistake to make even when a ramp is busy is to get in a hurry as two results will likley occur: (a) you will damage something on your boat or ( it will actually take longer even longer. I have a small 14' ft semi-V and the trailer I own is not capably of being fully driven on. So i just idle the boat to the trailer, hit the kill switch and let the boat drift onto the trailer rests. Then I get up putt the winch down to the nose of the boat, hook it up, work my way up my bumper and winch that baby nice and tight. Ive seen number of individuals (even with nicer boats) tear the s*** out of their boat and equipment making stupid mistakes. Take your time and be patient. Everybody on the water would rather see a successful boat loading attempt rather than one full of mistakes and being rushed. Noone will laugh at your and in fact, you can catch yourself laughing at the other idiots that tear the heck out of their rigs that are worth 20x more than your aluminum boat.

bass boat vs. v-bottom lund type
agree on this... if your in serious consideration of bass fishing only, a fiberglass boat will help you out to all ends in this regard. take if from me, WIND > ALUMINUM BOAT

Recommendations For Fluorocarbon
thanks for the info on the knots.. i will pass this info along and try to 16-20 myself. I have traditionally used the palmor knot for nearly everything but maybe this explains some of the issues I have had with fluro in the past. as I bought BPS fluro last year to save some $$ after hearing good reviews, only to break 5 fish off at a knot during a tourney >
