  1. I love frog fishing. Use a long MH or H rod, 65 lb. braid and a 7 to 1 reel. I keep my rod tip around 10 0' clock and I dont pause to feel the fish. If the fish rolls and I cant see the frog on the surface I quickly take up slack, pull back hard and immediately reel as fast as I can keeping the rod high. I try to get the basses head up and keep it up while I try to ski it over the slop to the boat. When the fish rolls on the frog its either in its mouth or it isn't. I rarely miss a fish that takes the frog. This works for me and your results may vary.
  2. Because its not easy. You spend a lifetime gaining knowledge and experience and there is still alot of magic to it when it all comes together, It's very satisfying. When that big one hits It's an adrenalin rush thats hard to equal.
  3. I think of froggin as kind of top water wormin..When a fish takes the bait I reel down counting to 3 and try to cross his eyes. Then i try to keep their head up and ski them over the cover all the way to the boat. this teqhnique worked well for me today as I landed a 3 pounder a 4 and a 5.. I missed a couple due to premature jerking and not waiting for the bass to inhale the bait. Sometimes its just a roll at the bait. Alot of times they come back if they miss..just fish it slow and dont be afraid of the thickest cover. Use heavy braid and a heavy long rod and you will land more than u miss.
  4. I have 2 and I Love them. They are my primary rods and whatever I'm fishing the most will tie them on my carrot stix because that is the rod I prefer by far. I understand people giving away their other rods. Have the 7'6" heavy for pitching jigs and plastic and a 7'3" MH I use for spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. I wish I had more but thats all for now. after having them I pay no attention to those saying they are a gimmick.
  5. THis has brought back a flood of happy memories.. the excitement of the rare opportunit of a fishing show to come on..I was on the edge of my seat watching and would break out my rod and clean it up and dream of going fishing.
  6. Rods seem to get longer every decade or so...Think im gonna get ahead of the game and get some 9 footers, one day they will be all the rage and i wont have to re-buy! :
  7. Have used braid before and hated it..but i tried 65# Power P ro on my 7'6" Carrrot Stix with Revo STX and i absolutely love it..I feel ever branch underwater with worms and jigs, and the vibration from rattle traps almost numbs ur arms..and the hook set is sure and true..the strength of the line..well I cant break it. If it were less visible in clear water id use nothing else but for weed and wood cover in stained water nothing else compares.
  8. I really love my Carrot stix. best rod ive owned. Thats where my money would go.
  9. use it for fishing, nuff said.
  10. Its called fishing..not catching.. just relax and fish your confidence lures.. find some fish with search baits..and just enjoy the out of doors. It happens to the best of us. try another lake. youll find some active fish and maybe that wallhanger on any cast.
  11. Good alternative color in the spring when the crawfish bite is on..Lots of fisherman use these in this part of texas. I have a few in my box but white is my confidence color. but Im going to be throwing these this week, along with my red traps.
  12. Since you like the Abu Garcia reels. The Revo's are hard to beat. I have a Revo STX and it's the best reel I've ever owned.
  13. I havent used one but just by feeling them in the tackle shop they felt very good. very light and at the price seems like a good deal.
  14. I would love to watch that video but for some reason they wont play on my computer. is there a certain player i need? Turned off my firewall and now the video played..very informative and I see the technique Glenn uses is the same that I've used. and with a longer rod with a long grip. Guess its just adapting to the equipment.thanks
