Good Ol' Michigan Fall Rains...
Yeah, fall has started for sure. I haven't been able to get out fishing in the fall for the last few years that I've been much more serious with bass fishing, so I'm curious about conditions. Weather is calling for rain for a couple days. I don't really know if the fall transition started yet, I've only been out once on of my local lakes in the last couple weeks due to work, and I seen some of the clues. There was a lot of trash on the surface and a normally very clear lake was pretty dirty. I figure if this pretty large body of water has turned over, some smaller lakes and ponds that I frequent with my kayak and Jonboat should have been done and over with, right? We just had a cold front come through, but there is another right on its heals it looks like... And drastic drop from 80's and sunny to 40's at night, I'm just not familiar with. Whats that going to do to the fishing? I also know to avoid fishing during lightning storms, just dumb and usually spooks the fish anyways. But if its just a couple days of straight rain, I could imagine this would be a good thing wouldn't it? Bringing the levels up, moving into shallows, and putting on the feed bag with no sun in sight. Whats the word on this crackpot of conditions? I'd normally just go anyways, but I'm heading to a kind of large "pond" that is a ways off, but is very tempting by reputation. If conditions are crap, I'd rather save the gas for another day.

Booyah Padcrasher (Frog)
Both of these that I owned had the weight fall out of them the first hour I used them. I took the hooks out and threw the rest away.

Abu Garcia Verdict Casting Rod
The Verdict I have heard of issues. But in the Vendetta and Veritas line, its not that common. I know a lot of people that use both and I'm the only one that has broken either of those. The Veritas because I did something stupid, but it took quite a bit of force to break. And the Vendetta was broken when a girl I took fishing caught her foot in the line and went to take a wide stride to the back deck of the boat. I'm not sure if the Verdict has been fixed or not. Kind of what I'm waiting to hear about the Villain before I get one of those.

Absent Minded
Thats kind of how I am fishing topwater sometimes. Daydreaming until I hear a splash, and coming back to reality gives me that 1, 2, 3 that I'm "Supposed" to wait for. Usually works out. Crankbaits sometimes as well, although I don't find myself doing much of that this year unless I hit St Clair.

Subwoofer
I like them on swim jigs or just a jig head. Haven't had the chance to use them on much else though. I like them because they have a lot of action with that speed-worm style tail, but in a shad shape so its more compact. Less tails ripped off since its easy for them to inhale the whole thing.

Line Conditioner:worth It Or A Gimmick ?
No he didn't. The aerosol can of Reel magic can't be use on Flourocarbon. Says right on it.

Berkley Havoc Sick Fish
Except you only get two per pack, so you'll have to buy at LEAST 4 bags to have enough to last a good day of fishing.

Why Flippin Hooks?
Nice to see that you have so much free time to waste trying to start crap on an internet forum about someones opinion, that NEVER said anything about sub-par

Why Flippin Hooks?
Calling it non-sense and claiming its magic doesn't make it any less of an opinion that in my experience, is truth. Why do you have to talk down about what has worked for ME? I'm not saying I was MISSING a lot of fish with EWG's, but I have seen the bait and hook entirely just come pop out of a fish's mouth without so much as my bait sliding down the hook. I can't say the same for straight shanks. Even when I miss a fish, the bait slides down and the point is fully exposed, EVERY time. I've seen an improvement in hooksets. Not so much as just a few less missed fish here and there, but more hooks buried in the roof of the mouth that take some effort to remove. I like my hooks to "pop" when I remove them. I didn't claim that EWG's don't still work, but MY PERSONAL experience has seen improvement with straight shanks.

When people are talking action, this is a basic idea of what they are saying.

Any Experience With Gander Mtn Combos
Most of their reels are made by the same people that make Pflueger. The X-Factor spinning reel is just the older Supreme XT in black and red instead of gold/yellow and silver. Baitcasters were Quantum's, rods are made by a company called GLV International. I never bought any of their combo's, but I never heard any real complaints about them when I worked for them. I do have 4 of their GSX Elite II Basalt rods and those things are work horses, but still feel great.

Why Flippin Hooks?
One reason I use the straight shank hooks is because of this rig here: Ever since I started using that rig for texas rigging, I hardly miss any fish. One difference you'll find in rigging with a straight shank flippin hook VS a EWG, is the fact that not many EWG's on the market have a welded eyelet. Without that, the small gap will allow your snell to slip into the eyelet and ruin the knot, or just plain cut your line. Another reason is because many are made with thicker diameter wire for when you're fishing stuff like this: http://youtu.be/PTrAKeurr6g?t=4m Catt made a good point about them as well on this forum. I have personally watched this happen myself multiple times, and not even with the point buried! But its just personal preference really. Give that rig I posted above a shot and see if you like it. I use it with just about everything now, short of tubes or other thick body baits. Even without using the snell, the hook point is going to be out in the open much more than an EWG. And they don't all have to be straight shank either. Just regular round bend offset hooks have a better hookup for me than EWG.

Johnny Morris Rods
That hookset really wasn't that hard. Ever watch Big-O set the hook on some of those pigs? It should have been more than able to handle that. That one was fresh out of the shipping tube into our store, never on the floor. Had it for less than a month, and that was maybe the 4th fish I had caught on it. (Or would have) It was a good sized one too, but no bigger than anything else any of my other rods have handled repeatedly in the past.

I had a 7'6" MH Micro for flouro and jigs. Broke it on a hookset. I probably wont own any others since no one I have showed that to was surprised by it. Many of my co-workers have done the same.

Yugo 59/66 Sks
Yes, they are compliance parts. You seem to be misunderstanding the way it works though. Until you have atleast 7 of those compliance parts installed. Any less, it is not compliant. Once you have less than 10 imported parts, then its basicly "American made," and no longer evil so you can do whatever you want to it. Stock is 2 parts with the forearm and the buttstock, magazine is three. So you have five. Pick up a trigger group and you'll be set. I personally had the same stock and everything, I hated it. Mines back in original form. Its wayyyy too long for that style of stock.

Yugo 59/66 Sks
Adding a pistol grip and detachable magazine has changed it from its original "sporting" configuration that it was able to be imported through, and until you have less than 10 imported parts on it, its not compliant. I went through all the same stuff and researched it plenty. I'd just be careful not to take it to any real popular ranges or anything until you do.

Be careful with the modifications to this gun. Its on the Curios and Relics list, and in order to modify it in any way, you have to replace atleast 7 of the original parts with American made parts to make it legal. Look up SKS 922R compliance. I see a lot of people modify these without knowing about these laws, and I've also seen a few end up in prison for it as well.

Revo Sx
Yes, this. Both of my SX's are set up for flippin'/pitching. One is for punching, the other for jigs and such. I used to use one on a cranking rod, and it still performed very well on that. More than capable of casts reaching out to 200' or so. What others have stated before, it takes an easy, smoooooth cast to get these to perform their best. You dont need to be chopping wood to cast them. Most important, is a well trained thumb!

Havoc Subwoofer
Been throwing them on swim jigs and they have been working great for me. They last just fine, no worse than anything else on the market but no better either. For 2.99, they are well worth adding to your box in my opinion.

Bad Hook Sets
I don't actually fish anything barb-less. I just pinch them to remove from a badly hooked fish. I quickly replace them, and keep fishing. Even trebles.
-
Bad Hook Sets
If I hook in a sensitive spot like that, and I can reach the barb, I pinch it to make hook removal easier. Hooks are cheap and replaceable, makes removal much easier to do this.

Gunman Opens Fire In Colorado Theater
One of the simple facts is that the theater this happened at has policies AGAINST concealed carry, and no law abiding citizens would have been carrying anyways. This does nothing but show that gun control does not work.

Ever Been Scared By A Strike?
A couple times by some BIG pike, two feet from the boat.

One Reason To Hate Treble Hooks.. But It Comes In Handy Sometimes.
lol Nope, no 5 gallon bucket. But I only separate by depth. I don't have enough room for more than one storage box, considering I am boatless and still have to use a tackle bag.
