  1. Just started watching the first Elimination Round. Cant wait for more. Messing with my tackle while I watch.
  2. They just aired the first Elimination round of the Summit Cup on the website. KVD is not on the roster.
  3. I've used the Spears in all the ways mentioned in those videos and they've produced for me. Punching was definitely the big one though.
  4. I've only broken one Veritas to my own stupidity, and have never met a single person who owns one who has broken one either. Where the Veritas "breaking" stories are coming from, I dont know. I have yet to hear any actual problems from customers. Carbonlite on the other hand, I know many who have broken them, multiples even, and will never own one again.
  5. I've also seen first hand that this is whats causing it to TIGHTEN as well. I've never seen them back off on their own yet. Edit: Think about the direction that the spool turns when the drag is letting line out. Its turning the same direction that you turn the knob to tighten the drag. That is really the only time the spool turns, and this washer is causing friction between the spool and the knob, which in turns causes the drag to tighten on itself, and results in lost fish (From person experience.) Every Pfleuger reel I have that had this washer, I removed and have never ONCE seen the drag back off on its own. I have seen a lot of Pfleuger spinning reels and rebranded reels they make come back with this exact problem. This is how I also came to own a few of them. After removing that washer, they worked fine. If it doesn't have that washer, then you have another issue. If it does, take it out and see what happens.
  6. Also, if there is a plastic or rubber washer under the drag knob, take it out. These were causing issues on a few reels when I worked at Gander, reels that were made by Pflueger.
  7. It amounts to a LOT more than a 1/6 of an inch. I had left water in my aluminum boat over the winter, with a 4" curltail worm soaking in it all through fall and into march of the next year. After uncovering it, it was now a 10" curltail that was originally a 1/4 thick, had became over 3/4 of an inch thick. People use big baits, but I'll guarantee these that he had found were not out of the ordinary worms.
  8. Caught mine the first trip I took after season opened here in MI. 5lbs 8oz, the one in my avatar.
  9. Thats just because they become waterlogged and expand. They were probably no different than the ones you normally fish before those guys decided to leave them in the water, which is not good. If you didn't already, I would grab a bag and grab any I could find and throw them away so they aren't eaten by any of the bass when the water levels come back up.
  10. My favorite trailer was the Yamamoto Swim Senko. It has a lot of roll action and I've sure a lot of vibration because of that. I have been using others lately though. I've tried the Havoc Grass Pig, RI Skinny Dipper, but most recently Trigger X Slop Hopper. I've always liked Trigger X's plastic. Its tough but still soft. It swims very much alike the Swimmin Senko, but has a much thicker, more durable body. I didn't get to fish it much before the ice started showing up, but it did well the last trip I went out on.
  11. Event without the event of burning plastic, you should be using some form of a respirator. For the question of which material to use, I would go for soft for your open pour molds. This is what I was instructed by the people I buy my plastic from, when he called to confirm an order mistake. Soft is not going to fall apart. Most peoples open pour baits end up with thicker appendages than you would normally see with injection molds, and soft will help allow the baits to move like they should. I would be very surprised if Roboworm used anything higher, as soft as those things are.
  12. x2, that is not much at all. Fishing a lot would be like my co-worker Dustin... Atleast 4 local tournaments a WEEK at the peak of the season.
  13. Pretty common from what I've seen. Just one example was the last tournament I fished at a late weekday 3 hour tournament on a decent sized chain of lakes. A man showed up and entered in his 14' Deep V with a 20hp on the back, home built deck and 6 rods. A bunch of guys snickered at him. He placed 2nd behind a guy with 17 aluminum, both of them beat the snot out of a bunch of guys with 18+ glass boats all kinds of tricked out.. Powerpoles, HDS10's.. blah blah. Ofcoarse it doesn't always go that way, but the fish don't care what you're floating on most of the time.
  14. Punch hubs are put in between your 1 ounce weight and hook for punching through matted vegetation. They give you the bulky skirted presentation while still being able to slip through the matts easily, as well as something that will click and clack.
  15. Yep. I hooked that 5-1/2 and was reaching for the net, she took a charge under the boat and I couldn't fight her with the one hand. She pinned my rod against the side of the boat and it snapped. I was impatient, should have fought her a little more before going for the net, but when I set the hook she was only about 8 feet from the boat. 50# braid and a stout rod, thought I could just horse it but she proved to be stronger than my wrist, lol
  16. I have two brand matched is all. A 1st gen Revo SX on a 7'6" MH Veritas, and the same reel on a 6'6" M Vendetta. For color matches, the SX and Veritas is somewhat.. But the one that I find to match perfectly in fit and feel, as well as color, is my Okuma Trio HS that I swapped to a low speed gearset, and a Carrot Stick Wild 7' ML dropshot rig.
  17. Back of a swim jig! They are killer for many lakes around me. Takes me a minute to think of a stupid lure I've bought that didn't catch anything but my eye... Probably the Strike King Sexy Swimmer. Never got a hit on it, but I also only fished it 3 or 4 times before my tackle box was stolen a couple years ago. The rest of my baits I've caught fish on, but I do have a lot of them that I've found something else I like more and are just collecting dust in a drawer.
  18. I personally would not use the MGX for punching. Its a nice reel and everything, but it only has a 12lb drag pressure. Seems to me it was built more to fit finesse applications than power fishing. I figure you're using it because you already own it, but I would pick any other Revo to do that job. They all have drags closer up to 20 pounds. I personally use an SX for punching and can still get the drag to slip on a good fish.
  19. That is a GSX Titanium from Gander Mountain.
  20. Just seen them come available on a retailer's site that I cannot mention here, lol. But I was looking at them. A few look better than others, but what really caught my eye was the new flipping hooks with the molded on barbs. I'll probably try a few. I like my Gami's but the the keeper will not stay put! An epoxy keeper already molded to the hook sounds like it will hold up pretty well.
  21. I can understand the move to a regional forum.. But MI is not Central.
  22. I would bet anything its because of the kinks you're getting from those tangles. That will cause failure. Are you getting backlashes and trying to pick them out too hastily? I use InvisX on ALL my flouro applications, from 6 up to 20#, and I've never had a random break-off on a cast. After the punishment I've put this line through and the very little trouble I've had with it, I'll fish nothing else. (For flouro at least.)
  23. I have been sick the last couple days so I decided not to head out today. Gonna try for tomorrow if I feel better since the little woman is going down state to see her mother.
  24. There have been studies, people finding fish that had 4 or 5 plastic baits in their stomach, but they do seem to live on. A lot of times those REAL skinny fish you catch might be because it has a bait lodged in its system. Its somewhat unavoidable by regular fishing, but DON'T throw your plastic over the side.
  25. Thats where I planned on hitting first is the feeder creek if i went.
