Iv'e owned and fished both. They are both great reels, but I have to give it to my Curado's. The things are little tanks! You wont go wrong with either but IMO I like my Shimano's better. As far as applications the Curado comes in varying gear ratios from the e5, 50e, e7 which all are used for different applications. Never had any expierence with the Abu Rod line but I sure do like the feel of the Veritas.

X2, cast and drift with the wind, it blows the baitfish and the warmer water in the same direction you will be headed. Throw a spinnerbait. A spinnerbait I like the sound of that coming from a diehard flipping champ... ;D

Out of curiosity why do you want a spincaster? I only see disadvantages in using one. I'd go with a spinning reel they are much more reliable and are very simple to use.

What Curado has a 7:3? The e7's are 7:1:1 they are great reels, and although they dont have the drag of Abu's they are still able to haul the biguns' outta the slop. Get one or three you'll love em.

I was talking to the sales guy and I asked him which ones were 50% off, and he said were about to make all of them. So I said how long till you do that and he was like how about now? so he didn't adjust it in the computer just rang it in as price error.
