  1. Its my understanding that the dual transducer will display the down imaging. According to the box, mine came with the HDI Skimmer Transducer 50/200 & 455/800 kHz. Part number 000-10977-001. I haven't had it on the water yet but here soon I'll know for sure. Mine is the Elite-4 HDI, not the Elite-4x HDI, not sure if that makes a difference.
  2. Local walmart around here has not had much if any rifle or pistol ammo for a couple years now but plenty of shotgun shells. Went by Gander Mountain today and there was plenty of ammo there. Of course no .22 but anything else was well stocked including 5.56 green tips.
  3. Good news yesterday from TVA. They announced they would be bringing Pickwick back up on schedule this Spring.

I really want a shield in 9mm. Waiting to get my tax refund and probably will pick one up. I've found them as low as $399 but hoping can find one a little cheaper now.
  5. Spend more time on the water. Work on fishing deeper structure.
  6. You might give Clay a call. I know he does some guides on the side. He seems like a good guy. The website is for his gun shop but contact information is on there. http://www.lockandload.us/
  7. I love creek fishing! Especially in the summertime. The top fish was caught on an Alabama Rig, the smallie on a Storm Wild Eye Shad.
  8. There may be some good "black friday" sales going on at the big outdoor stores. Might be worth checking in to.
  9. They're fun to catch. We just call them "stripe" around here because of their stripes.
  10. Two boats were beached on Big Bear yesterday. Word is they are still there. First boat got stuck, they went back with another to try and get the first one and ended up getting it stuck too. The Cherokee Rescue squad ended up having to get them out. As far as the boats, I'm not sure how long it will take to retrieve them.
  11. The water is way down. Anyone out be careful. I've heard it could stay down 1-3 years depending on who you talk to. Hopefully not nearly that long.
  12. I haven't had my boat in the water since early August. Word is though things are pretty tough right now. I think there is a tourney in town this weekend. I've seen several boats around and about at hotels and such. I'd guess it would be out of McFarland. I was gonna try it last week but decided to go to the gun range instead. Just going across the bridges I've seen boats up near the dam and beating the banks.
  13. Heads up to anyone planning to coming to Pickwick over the next month as they will be bringing it down to winter pool by mid October. I've heard it could even be a little lower. This could cause some trouble at a few ramps. TVA has already warned removing artifacts or disturbing historical sites is against the law. http://www.tva.gov/sites/pickwick.htm

This is good to know. I don't have a pistol at the moment but won't be carrying the Magtech for self defense when I get a new one.

I shot the 115 gr 9mm stuff in my SR9c and it done fine. I carried the Guardian Gold 124g for my self defense round. I didn't have any trouble with it either. Its hard to find around here except in the bigger bulk packs but I would buy it just as much as I would anything else.

The local Gander Mountain had some this morning. Some Remington and CCI Standard Velocity rounds and thunderbolts. They were running a special on them. They keep all .22 behind the counter and you have to ask for it. Their shelves are practically running over with all other calibers, just very limited in the .22 department.
  18. Local TV station has been snooping around about other gun manufactures moving to Madison County and turned up a little something. A Madison County Commissioner confirmed there had been talks with several manufactures but no deals were in place. The reporter contacted several but they said there were no plans for relocation at this time. However, when asked, Colt declined to comment at this time. Apparently there has been some talk about Colt relocating to another area for some time but that doesn't mean they'll be coming to Alabama. The President of the NRA has been meeting the the governor in an effort to move other manufactures to the state.
  19. Apparently the Freedom Group is no more and is now called Remington Outdoor Company or something similar. Anyway, they will be moving Bushmaster and the Remington 1911 Pistol lines to the new Huntsville plant and maybe several others as well. Huntsville may very well become the main plant for most of Remington's products. Multiple plants being consolidated and moved to Huntsville location... http://www.forbes.com/sites/frankminiter/2014/05/16/americas-oldest-gun-maker-thumbs-its-nose-at-a-two-faced-senator/
  20. Northwest Alabama, Tuscumbia to be exact. We couldn't find the bite yesterday but got a few crappie for the fryin pan.
  21. We did okay Sunday dragging soft plastics about 10 ft of water as the rain was moving in. Haven't been since we got the heavy rain the last couple days.
  22. Only thing I can add is the water is up to or maybe just past summer level right now. I don't know how long they will hold it there. Last Saturday water temp in the main lake was around 56 degrees. I didn't bass fish last week but it appeared most of everyone was beating the banks pretty hard.
  23. I got my upper in today so my Palmetto State Armory AR 15 is complete. The quality and craftsmanship looks really nice. The upper fits nicely with the lower. A real tight fit. I have the PSA Premium upper with the 1/7 twist and FN chrome lined barrel. The lower is a PSA Classic lower. It needs a good cleaning and oiling and some rear sights then off to the range to test it out.
  24. Pickwick was 55-56 degrees today. I didn't find any bass but enjoyed being on the water. It was still a bit chilly though.
  25. Supposed to be 29 here tonight. I'm still going tomorrow. Maybe I'll find a few Pickwick bass hiding out somewhere.
