  1. It is all good now. He is a strong boy. There is a picture of him floating around somewhere here on B.R. of my son and a big 6lb 14 oz smallie he caught last year as a 4 year old.
  2. I am waiting for that 7 lb smallie. Came close this last year with a 6 lb 14 oz a replica is the only way I will go. Largemouth, I don't know, it would have to be bigger than I will catch around here...
  3. Great looking lures. I like that flat side walking bait! Does it have a rattle in it?
  4. If you have a Duhnams Sports around you the have Abu Garcia combos in the silver max or black max reels for around $60-80. The rods are mediums to m-heavy. Good starter set ups.
  5. When my son was born there were some complications at birth. He was a big boy right from the start and during his birth there was an epic tug of war....a struggle between him and the Dr. The doctor ended up winning. One of the many injuries to my son was that all muscles on the left side of his neck were torn away from the base of his skull & chest. Surgeries & physical therapy started at 5 days old. For the first 6 or 7 months his neck was weak & crooked. Due to our schedules (and the amount of pain & tears from both my son & wife) I attended and did most of the physical therapy with my boy. He and I quickly got known by the therapists as Team CrookedNeck......
  6. A couple bucks & a little time and it is easy. See if there is a custom rod builder in your area. Wouldn't take much for them
  7. I am located an hour north of Green Bay and the info Scott F gave you is about the same here.
  8. Yeah that pearl metallic turns almost translucent. The only white I don't use cp on is if it is a color fast white and even then you have to make sure you pack the threads carefully. Even when using nylon thread the thread will turn translucent unless 1) you use cp or. 2) you use a colorfast thread
  9. Water, Mountain Dew & jerky! Will keep you going all day!
  10. Thanks for posting! Great pictures.
  11. Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback
  12. I have used Pflueger spinning reels for years. The President series is all I have ever used and have no complaints. My question is the step up to the supreme or supreme xt worth the cost for those of you who have used both. I know the big differences are going to be weight savings & upgraded components. I Guess I am asking about fit and function. Thanks
  13. 6 to 7 lbs fish are big here in Wisconsin. Your best bet for those are going to be on the Great Lakes or thier Tributaries.
  14. 3/4 oz white & chartreuse spinner bait double willow blades. I have found this is a Great fall time pattern when the big smallies are in the grass in shallow water here. Top water is a close second.
  15. Practice before spending money & time if you don't like it. Take an old rod strip the guides off rewrap them and finish it up. A couple important hints 1.) Not all thread is intended for rod building. Start with nylon rod building thread. 2.) When applying finish several thin coats are better than one lumpy wavy thick coat.
  16. I fish a lot of smallies 1.) You have to fish a body of water that holds big fish. 2.) On a windy day fish the wind beaten shore. 3.) Make sure your gear is ready for the job. Check your line regularly, re-tie often. Largemouth 1.) Slow down 2.) Don't be afraid to try something different. 3.) When nothing else works throw a senko.
  17. You will like that blank!
  18. Check out Paul Krew custom baits. I use his drop shot pours & love em!
  19. Integrity ~ Doing the right thing, even when no one is looking!
  20. White spinner bait.
  21. It takes a lot off practice. 2 reasons. Too much tension or not enough. The right amount of Tension is very important in decorative wraps. It is also a hard process to master. Only through a lot of wraps & practice are u gonna figure it out. For me I line it up with my layout. Wrap it, and pack very little till the end. Once you figure out that the right packing tool helps a lot. A lot of people use the tip of the packing tool. Use the side or long edge once, it will make packing easier. I would post a pic but, in the middle of a move and only have my phone for the Internet right now.

  23. This time of year can be tough, but in as short as a few weeks can turn into a feeding frenzy. The weather in this part of WI has been changing drastically in short periods. On Wednesday we had 90 degrees & on Thurday it was 50 degrees there have been several storms too. The smallies have been hanging close to cover in the rivers and streams. Your lure presentations have to be slow & accurate. A couple techniques working for me a walk the dog type top water. Twitch it 3 times let it sit 5-6 seconds before moving it. Upsizing your Senkos to 5" two colors black & baby bass. Cast it let it drift in the current. When it hits the bottom let it sit 10 seconds. 1 little twitch. Let it sit. Repeat. Concentrate on 1 piece of cover at a time. Make several cast to it if needed. Rocks, current breaks, clumps of grass. Right now work it slow and you will be rewarded. Once the water temps start to drop & the fall pattern starts to develope change over to crank baits and hold on. Good luck & post some pics!
