  1. Read somewhere that this is almost a reality some places. There is supposedly alot of support for this. They want everyone to use foodsource/gulp or just not fish. anybody else head about this bs?
  2. New regulation could cost boaters Posted on Apr 7, 2008 12:11:14 PM It seemed like a good idea at the time - however, an EPA permitting program to help save the environment from pollution and foreign invasive species, brings recreational boaters and anglers under the same regulations as commercial seagoing ships. In response to a court case about ballast water from foreign ships, a California court ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to come up with a permitting system to regulate ballast water discharge by September 2008 to help control pollution and invasive species from fouling our coastlines and waterways. But best of intentions are not always the best or at least that is what Senators Bill Nelson from Florida and Barbara Boxer of California felt when they introduced bill S. 2766, the Clean Boating Act of 2008, into the U. S. Senate on March 13. The EPA permitting program eliminates a previous exclusion for recreational boats and charter operations that distinguish them from seagoing commercial and cruise ships. With the EPA program, recreational boaters will need to get a state or federal permit for discharges such as engine cooling water, uncontaminated bilge water and weather deck runoff. For the family boater and angler, that means permitting fees, red tape and enforcement issues. Oil, raw sewage, hazardous pollutants and garbage are already regulated and would not be affected. "It's an overly broad decision and congress needs to step in and change it," said Bryan Gulley, spokesman for Nelson's office. "It's only been out there for three weeks - the more boaters hear about it, the more pressure they can put to do something about it." The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, of which co-sponsor Boxer is chairman. Gulley said boaters that want to restore the exclusion for recreational boaters should contact their legislators and encourage them to pass the Clean Boating Act.

I think mann's is on to something.... got out on big water and cranked some stumps and stuff. Havent fished many that come through/off cover like those do. Hard to hand up compared to others. fish like them too.
  5. anybody throwing the mann's,norman etc. wake baits... the fish should kill them looking at action.. Just wondering what tackle yall are throwing them on.
  6. big difference in trolling and sarcasm.....
  7. hell yeah, a gill net or a kick sein is great in spawning coves and such.... gets them all on the bank so you can sort them out ....
  8. I agree.... Dynamite is an under-utilized weapon for tough sight fishing conditions. Plus you dont waste any on dead water. if all else fails and you got the time, there is always rotenone..
  9. the old telephone trick works well also...... it can be shocker though :-[
  10. compound bow , frog gig and spear gun are always on my front deck.
  11. Norman Fatboy.... because they work alot of different ways and places....
  12. something else to thing about is once you go to an 8wt or bigger, you have to cast them totally different than lighter rods. Might be good to take a few lessons if before you buy one bigger than an 7wt...
  13. the stuff i think about doing with when I see her, dont require much of any intelligence on her part.....dumber the better....
  14. Uh, Boyd Duckett caught alot of fish and won alot of money with the carrot sticks this past season and it was on tv.......is that enough proof?????????? :
  15. DO not go below an 8'6" rod unless you go with one of the new sage bass rods... 9ft gives you both accuracy and distance..... and the right rod and reel/line setup you can cast an 8 wt all day long.... biggest key is learning to cast selectively.... 8wts and over are not good for blind casting.... I would recommend a 6 or 7wt for general fishing... My 2nd largest bass was a 9.5, I caught on a 5wt with a #6 woolly booger.... check out www.byrdsultrafly.com or google bill byrd... also check out the flyfishing section on florida sportsman mag forum..... these guys have lots of good info.... Really just for lmb I would go with an 8'6 or 9ft 7wt.... it will be good for all you need to do and will fish alot better and enjoyably compared to an 8wt. then buy a 9 or 10wt for days you got to have a cannon...
  16. Sage just came out with two new rods especially for tournament bass fishing you might want to check out..7'10 9wt and a 7'9 11 wt i think... .. talked to a few pro-staffers/guides i know in Fla...and have heard nothing but good things and they were really impressed with rods that they were very skeptical about... Powell and or scott has some similar rods... some of the older sages are much better than the new ones.....and some are getting more expensive than the new ones on ebay... I use a TFO sig series 8wt and 6wt for almost all my flyfishing for bass/stripers...... but also been known to fish 2 and 3 wts when i can....
  17. I really wish he had been with me to take pics on the Guad. Its a little more narrow and more rocky than the LLano.Stripers also come up out of canyone lake.... and both rivers are stocked with trout during winter... .... .. later that night we hit Cooper's BBQ in Llano.... Unreal... its been on food channel many times, really good and it aint southern style either. Yeah those are big fish, lmao....but the hill country is fishing and hunting heaven... Austin is a mess and i was unimpressed with the nightlife. New Braunfel area where i am moving to is alot like the nantahala area in NC... plus they have tube hatches with the co-eds from san marcos.... looking forward to spring to say the least...
  18. Well it was Sat. before thanksgiving when i finally got to fish. Hit the Llano river with fishing college buddy I had seen in 3 years or so. Didnt know about any of the pics except of my first Guadalupe bass... The following monday and tues.....on monday, I had one of my best days of river fishing on the fly ever, first time i ever fish the Guadalupe river. Caught 4 or 5 guads around a lb or so, several nice smallmouth bass, and a 5lb LMB..... a blast on 6wt flyrod with good current....even the big bream fight hard.... Looking forward to moving back.... Plus Gruene Hall is nearby.... great place for a beer after a day on water, plus its a muscial/historical landmark. Back in Ga until end of month.... cold... :-[
  19. Havent been posting much, been fishing very little..... but how bout the dawgs!!!!!!! ;D and i fly to Texico...head south to san marcos then austin..... fish the hill country with college buddy a few days......do some job hunting/interviewing,etc...... then looks like i might be headed to boulder, colorado on a bus out of dallas........ Be back in Gawga for a few weeks in Dec.... before i move for good.....
  20. not all in bass fishing, but fishing none the less.... Have met Stu Apte, left kreh, and Chico martienez to name a few of the big name guys in things other than bass fishing... Stu Apte is a great guy, talked to me for a couple hours. Lefty too....friends met Jose from spanish fly and flip pallot at same shallow water expo the next day...also class acts.... Steve Kennedy and Boyd Duckett really impress me, and the lesser known Tony Couch, flw pro who is from here....... those are the guys that pop in my head....
  21. "Is it the new stink bait or something bubba done ate." I will ask my gf again who sings "Bubba's beer, bait and ammo." check out www.radiofreetexas.org Mainstream music sucks, period...Its just crap...most stuff on country radio isnt country... Dirks Bentley is the only mainstream artists, i think i listen to. Stoney Larue is really good. Charlie Robinson is one of my favorites, Cory Morrow has some good stuff. the great divide, Pat Green was really good back in 01 before his cd got big. and dont even get me talking about alt country, Son Volt, Uncle tupelo, the bottle rockets all make/made great music.... My gf is living in the middle of the texas music scene right now, hopefully about to get a little record deal, so i get exposed to a ton of good music from out there. I listen to alot of outlaw and alt country too. also alot of bluegrass.
  22. That is just a taste of texas music....actual country music like it is supposed to be played, imho... I have had the cd for years and never thought to post the lyrics...Its great to see him do it live after 6 or so beers, if i must day. REK prollie puts on the best live show in country music, without alot of flash, One of the best live acts I have seen and i go to alot of shows. I saw maybe 6 times in college... Other good ones are gringo honeymoon and the road goes on forever, rollin by, corpus christie bay, I m coming home....most all are great though..
