BPS...
I think Academy has the same rods cheaper than BPS....At least they did when the stores opened in Athens and Macon.

best shaky head setups???
SPOTREMOVER JIGHEADS ARE NOT SHAKEY HEADS!!!!! they are standup jigheads. They are not made to fish like a ballhead jig and do not perform well in fished like a shakey head. KB, Never used or had to use a jighead that light..... A small worm like a Spotsticker finesse worm or even some zoom c-tails might work well on a jighead that small. Still doesnt give a big fish incentive to eat it often enough for my likeing.I use 1/4 and 1/8 oz. Use the 1/8 on 6lb around docks unless there is brush and stuff with finesse worms, tricks worms are too big IMO for the 1/8, I use a 1/4 on 10-12 lb line and fish it anywhere almost like a jig on MH tackle. Other than pitching the 1/8 oz around stuff for a slow fall or pitching the 1/4oz. I throw it out and drag it in slow, real slow. on a semi-tight line.

best shaky head setups???
I like the Bite-me jigheads, all i have used since they came out. Same ones Vandam uses. The vertical 60 degree line tie help it come throw cover easier and helps get a better hookset.

fishing partner got to meet......
Scroggins is the real deal. He and Preston Clark won over $150,000 in a year fishing team tournaments mostly in florida a few years ago. I would hate to have to see them two in the same boat on sat. morning every sat. Bet alot of those guys in Fla. were more than happy to see them go pro.

ethical killing?? (your thoughts)
Someone on here jumped on my case for shooting crows last year. : In Ga, their is actually a season on crows and black birds, ringneck doves, pigeons. Seeing how we have exposed livestock feed for them to get into, crap in it, roll around in it and this will make the cows sick. So I have kille lots of them over the years. The Crows/pigeons will hang around for months after they find a food source, getting smarter each day. So you have to hide and use a call to get shots at them. Good practice before duck season starts. I wont eat them, but there is a crow expert online that guides hunts for them and sells cook books.

fishing partner got to meet......
Terry Scroggins last night at the Macon BPS, headed to Champlain. He was in line behind a guy that had a shopping cart filled up with soft plastics, cranks, and other stuff. After standing there 10 minutes or so, Scroggins paid for his $2600 worth of stuff. My buddy spoke to him walking out and Scroggins struck up a converation with him and killed 10 or 15 more minutes talking fishing and showing him his boat/truck. No one else there had any idea who he was. Said he had to be one of the nicest guys he had ever met.

Yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft sink rate and stre
Thanks Flechero..a 6'10 seems to fit the bill well for this type of jig fishing..I will pay more attention to my hooksets, . I trim my brushguards, also. The style of jig i am using could be part of it too. Using XPS football jigs with the line tie built into the head of the jig instead of protruding from the head. I have some different ones ordered to see if the tie angle may have something to do with it also. Have only really had this problem with football jigs, i remember someone telling me there is a little learning curve as far as keeping the fish from throwing the hook on the jump. Something about the way some jigs are made make its center of gravity a little different.

I know 10ft is shallow to alot of people. Its where deep starts here for most people. Rarely do you fish deeper than 20 or 30ft in this part of the state. When 20 or deeper is the norm an hour and a half north of here. I only use 3/4oz jigs in 20ft or deeper. The 1/2oz. football is my goto slow bait from 5 to 15ft water unless i am flipping/pitching, i throw it instead of a C-rig. I fish flourocarbon in 8 to 10 lb test for shakyhead/certain cranking situations and like the results/feel. Right now, I am using a Team Allstar 6'10 Heavy action, extra fast tip and 15lb P-line CX line, have used PP in the past also. Missing fish and having fish come off at the boat. After adjusting everything i could but the line. All i can figure is I am not getting a good hookset, due to line stretch and the bow in the line.

10ft of water or deeper, windy day, fishing 1/2-3/4oz. jigs on offshore structure that is as small as a single stump or rock, everything i can control helps. Are any of co-polymer low stretch/ non-floating or is this only a flourocarbon property? Its the bow in my line that I am dealing with. Flourocarbon eliminates that and not much stretch. Mono and braid float and leave a bow in your line. Other than keeping constant pressure on the lure, even a heavier lure isnt going to solve the problem with a line that has the buoyancy of mono/braid.

Lets talk about Spotted Bass
I caught 2 4lb+ , 2 3lbers and 2 lmb's over 3lbs on Lanier one evening last spring. All off the same shoal, C-rig 4 inch senko knockoff. Never had a day like that much less a couple of hours, but the C-rig junebug stickworm has paid off at Lanier since.

How old do you have to be to get a sponsor???
Since when is reality rude???? just pointing out things no one else is pointing out. Then some of the same ones will go over to off-topic and whine about how kids are spoiled, unrealistic these days..... What would I be jealous about?????? : I thought the same thing at eleven and I always got cut down to size, while it may have been uncalled for it happens all the time and if warn the younger kids my experiences of getting laughed at, ignored, etc He might keep at it and wait until the time is right. Fishing is one thing that everyone knows takes years of experience to get better. Wasnt trying to be rude, just offering a realistic experience, really, with how the world works. Not only have I been in competitive fishing a while, but I was also involved in rodeo/horse show stuff for most of my life. Its hard to get sponsors unless you are a phenom or something, and if thats the case you will know, the sponsors will come to you..

Yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft sink rate and stre
Just curious about how well Yozuri hybrid sinks and its stretching properties compared to flourocarbon and other copolymers. I am not getting good enough hooksets in water over 8ft deep with football jigs/t-rigs. I like need something without much stretch that will also sink unlike mono and braid. Using the smallest jig I can get away with doesnt allow me just to use a heavier jig and braided line.

How old do you have to be to get a sponsor???
Edited out the last part :.Would not have known his age without looking at his profile, also states he had been fishing "a long time".kinda misleading....But other than that, how was i not telling him how things work, etc....I believe I explained that it wasnt just for him, it was the others that also come on here wanting to know how to get sponsors, etc. and yet they havent done anything to deserve sponsorship. Basically elaborating more on what has already been said.

How old do you have to be to get a sponsor???
this is Kinda putting the wagon a few miles ahead of the horse, aint it?????? Lets be realistic, i know i will sound like a butthole, not gonna sugar coat anything.....and this goes for anyone else with sponsorship questions, illusions, delusions, and so forth.... Why do you feel you should be sponsored? Just because you have used zoom worms since you were 5 doesnt really make you a canidate for their pro staff....sorry. You cant drive, Cant legally operate a boat most places, Tournament participation is limited, cant legally work, = not much exposure for someone's product. Alot of trails wont let you fish as a co-angler even until you are 18. At least wait until you are older and have some experience and something to bring to the table, that way you will not have already annoyed the people before you have made a name for yourself. just fishing all the time from 3yrs old to 11 isnt really a big deal and winning some bank fishing touneys when you were 8 and being the jr catfish rodeo champion at 7 years old are not legit things to list on your resume etc. There are many forum members, myself included, that spend over 150 days a year and have been fishing seriously from anywhere to 10-15 yrs as far as the under 30 guys go and those that have been putting that time from 20 years to a lifetime either chasing trophy fish or chasing checks in tournaments. A few of us have been lucky enough to win pretty good money and have had or have decent sponsor deals. The majority of us though, getting sponsors isnt really an issue, and pretty humble about what we do, have done, and our abilty and are not expecting to get paid or given free stuff because "we like to fish, alot."

Bass Grabber Jig by Snagproof
Anyone seen one in person? fished one? Article in this months bassmaster mag. Jig experts what do you think of the principle of a double hook/twin brush guard jig, kinda like a hollowbody frog hook with a trailer keeper and leadhead, brushguard for both hooks....Charlie Ingram is claiming to have invented it, says it is more snag-less and better hook up %'s compared to traditional jigs. Yet the almost $9 a piece..... :-? I admit i have had the idea before now, but just didnt think it was really

Powerpro VS Spiderwire Stealth
I used PP until for 5 years, until this year. I needed 50lb and couldnt find any PP within an hour of me that size. SO i tryed the Stealth and have no complaints. It keeps its color, less wind knots, likes a not better...Better line IMHO.

transducer mounting?
Guy that works for my dad, gave me a fish eagle 165 i think it is.It was a portable at one point, but he had it permanatly mounted on a boat he had.Hooked it to a battery this morning and it works.... Trying to figure out the best place to mount/ use it on my gheenoe without having to put any screws into the hull. Right now I have it mounted on piece of wood that will hang from the back of the boat or side of boat. Just gonna use it for depth and bottom change so interference and all isnt a big deal.

Rattles on your jigs?
Not gonna puke up and repeat info, just gonna tell you my personal experience- Water clarity, fishing pressure, and depth are the factors that i have found when rattles will help or hurt you with any lure, even topwaters. I have been out on days where I could catch fish on every cast on a crankbait without rattles but would not touch the same lure basically with rattles. Same with jigs for me anyway. I also found that a really faint single rattle, will get whacked before no rattle or two regular rattles.

Is it just me?
Not really something that is bothering me, just wondering if others had experienced stuff like this with club angling. This was almost 2 years ago. I started fishing team tournies and pot deals instead of the club route..The club is basically bass and flw on the lake i live on. I would like to fish the Top 6 and federation stuff, but this crowd changes the rules as they go... They dont like younger blood at all. A couple young guys won almost every tournament out of a jon boat, it ticked the old farts off so they changed the rules. Somewhat comical...also funny how we are in the dead middle of Ga, and they had more tournaments in alabama the last two years than the home lake.

ALL STAR RODS SUCK!

decent deal on a new Javelin? Opinions needed!
The economy sucks, gas is outrageous...I dont look until winter time, preferably coldest times of year here, if you know of people in tournament circles, etc. that want a new boat really bad, having $ trouble, or the best deal is DIVORCES, nice boats will get cheap in a hurry. If you want to spend a little more some of the pros get demos for big discount and under contract have to have a new one the next year so they end up dumping the for alot less than you can get them elsewhere.A local guy I know has 4 stratos' and rangers in his yard and the new one behind his truck, most people here wont pay what he needs to get for them...Getting the perfect boat, without spending 50K is going to take luck, patience, and research. Even my gheenoe list for close to $1000 new, I paid $275...My aluminum bass boat was 1/2 price of a new one a year later..... There are alot of used boats in GA and Fla and they have not been moving in recent years and they get cheaper, I saw a like new G3 start at $15,000 and end up selling 6 months later for less than 10k. There is one dealership I found on goggle, that is around atlanta, cant remember the link...that has great deals and probably 100 used boats of various year models...

Falcon Rods
Never heard anyone complain about Falcon. Several guys i fish with have 8 - 10 in their boats and never any problems, they love them.I fished with them and like them... When i get where i can replace my stuff that probably going to be what i buy... Take it back to walmart....what do you expect buying from them? No reason for you to bash Falcon. You bought from WALMART, good chance the blank got dinged up in the store at some point, happens all the time. Even in Pro-shops.....Ever wonder why BPS exchanges them so gladly???? If i had been the rodmaker, I would not taken the time to reply to you...

decent deal on a new Javelin? Opinions needed!
The boats I have looked at were 18-19'6 with 150's.not comanches..... The boat i am going to buy soon is a 98 19ft ranger, getting it for $7000. loaded... Except for a little fading carpet it is perfect..... Those boats are out there, not going to find a 96- 98 20ft ranger with 200hp for under $10000 though....They are out there, you just have to look.

Is it just me?
I got a bad taste with club politics and such.....anyone else? Tried to join the local bass club. Wanted in as a non-boater to start out, was told no. Then decided to join as a boater anyway. considering they were begging for boaters. Went to the meetings with a member then fished a tournament. Was told the next week that they have a rule where if one club member votes no on your membership, you dont get in and one old man said he would vote for againest you, so dont come to another meeting. Went on to say it was "his club." He is a board member of both Fed. clubs here. My buddy quit shortly after and told me the whole story. This man is hated by most people, even some of his family, and joined the club and started harrassing/badmouthing/aggravatingg the board members to get his way and make them quit...So he moved up to president because no one else wanted to do it. Also happens to be the grandfather of a distant teenage cousin that is a felon that ihave had problems with harassing me, threatening me, dont know how he would blame me for their behavior..... Is this common with small town fishing clubs or just me????should they be reported to federation?

Unless it is immaculate....I would give more than $5500-$6500...I have seen/heard of alot better 97-98's rangers and tritons go for $7500-$8000, depending on the area they are in..
