yeah I want to say I was a Staff Sergeant when I first joined her ... seems like forever ago... thanks for the well wishes... main reason for the post was I know there are several awesome guys on here that I am sure were wondering why I dropped off the face of the earth..... just so many hours in the day and its seems between work and family fishing takes a back seat AL

For those of you that know and remember me let me give you an update on me and mine... If I remember correctly in my last "update" I had just recently returned from Iraq and had been promoted to Master Sergeant and was soon to be a First Sergeant... well to say that my job as First Sergeant has been very very time intensive but to be honest its been the best job I have ever had in my life... I run a Maintenance Company of over 275 Soldiers... so as you can surmise I am dealing with more issues than you can poke a stick at... the plus is.. rewarding like you wouldn't believe... the negative is I hardly EVER have time to fish anymore... maybe once a month if I am lucky a week a go Sunday I got out and whacked them got 18 or so to the bank... it killed me not being able to get back out after that but with time restrictions there isn't any way.. maybe next week... speaking of next week.... soon as the flights clear out from the volcano eruption I will be taking my Company back to Iraq... we are doing the retrograde of equipment from there to either back to the US or over to fight in Afghanistan... either way... no fishing... LOL grrrrrr anyways... Please pray for my Soldiers... my one priority is to get them over there and back all in one piece... thanks for all the prayers AL

I am going back in May... so I have a bit of time... but that dang clock is ticking... other than that my day starts at OH dark thirty and goes until between 7 and 8... I just wish we got overtime for anything over 80 hours a week LOL yes we went fishing Monday... it was good to get out for a while... 7 of us went... AL

For those of you that know me... yes I am still alive... just very very busy these days... I am now a First Sergeant for the biggest Maintenance Company on post... I am responsible for 280 Soldiers and never a moments peace... the days of me getting out fishing all the time are over for a while.. I am getting out on Monday though... several of my Soldiers and I are going to hit my favorite pond... AL

The oldest had this pop up and she decided to HELP me by downloading... then the fun started... redirected to weird websites and it was running so slow it was crazy... of course it had to wait till I got home from school.. so I got to spend my first weekend home rebuilding the hard drive thanks to her wanting to "help" AL

Sorry I haven't been posting much... getting back into Garrison mode and then I had to go to an Army School for the last month up in Maryland... sheesh I am glad I live in Georgia now... just wanted to say hey and I am still alive... I just got back Friday so I will hopefully get some lake time next weekend AL

I got the best deal of all... I got to go fishing and break in my new fishing rod ... AL

Finally got out to try out my new rod... caught 6, nothing huge but I am not complaining... I was pleased since I been home I haven't had much luck... took my next door neighbor out.. it was raining and pretty nasty but it did didn't stop us... LOVE that new rod.. it fishes like a dream!!! I will post a picture as soon as he sends it to me off his camera phone AL

When I was over there I got a Wii and Sega Bass fishing.. its pretty cool... whats your MOS? I was lucky and we were on a COB that had internet so I actually had it in my CHU .. it was expensive.. but well worth the hassle of slow and spotty connection I had a lot of support from my fishing buddies sending me really cool pictures and stickers and magazine and all sorts of things... shoot me a PM when you get set up... I will shoot you out something... ... care packages no matter what is in them is AWESOME!!! AL

if you have the means.. HELL yeah.. and join ROTC and get a commission while your at it... but some of us didn't have the means... *shrug* AL

the Marines have more Esprit de Corps...all them guys is brainwashed ;D the Army has more to offer, not better.. more... we are so much bigger so the chances of you getting the job you want are MUCH better... either or your butt is going to Iraq or Afghanistan... if you can go in expecting it you should be good to go in that aspect... but then... the Marines is so much smaller you WILL have more responsibility as young NCO... I don't think advancement time wise is that much different between the two.. I KNOW that advancement in the Air Force is MUCH slower than the Army... anyways... its really what you want to get out of it... its actually as much of what you put INTO it too... its a good life but plan on moving every 3-5 years... if you get married.. its hard.. especially the long deployments and going to the field... its as hard on the wife as it is you... but then you have job security... a sense of accomplishment very few other jobs can give you other than police or fire dept type thing... anyways.. the Military is never a bad decision... any branch has its good points and its bad... the first year or so SUCKS.. but after that you will get some rank and more money and its actually pretty good... anyways.. that is enough to consider for now... pray on it... and let us know what you decide AL
