  1. he had the munchies and thought that the senko was a McDonalds french fry AL
  2. I found the PERFECT Pattern two weeks ago when I caught that 5 pounder... a swim jig. I caught 13 bass in one day on a SMALL pond.... hahahahaha but since then I have not caught one bass *sigh* I can't find that new pattern... AL
  3. I always read about "let the fish tell you what they want".. GOOD IDEA... but... HOW? Let me know how YOU find a pattern... the more specific the better... thanks for helping me be a better angler... AL
  4. I just got this a few weeks ago... 5lbs 8 ounces... hope there are more 5+ pounders to catch this year.... I would be beside myself to get a 6 pounder this year...
  5. Monte Python is AWSOME... nothing like having a Python addict start reciting Python when your 20 miles into a 25 mile Ruck March.. hahahaha that guy was hilarious!!!! Made that last 5 miles fly by! AL
  6. Doug, That is an awsome idea... makes me wish I owned a boat!!!!... here is what you can do if you are serious about wanting to do something like that. Since you don't live near an actual Army Post just find out where your local Army National Guard or Army Reserve Center is and just call there and talk to the Unit Administrator, Let them know what you have in mind and then give them your contact information. It may take some time but the next Battle Assembly they will put out your offer and before you know it you will have soldiers calling you left and right for a free fishing trip... hahahaha us soldiers are cheap and jump at chances like that all the time Thanks AL
  7. couple of pieces of advice 1. if your married remember she has been a single parent for a year... there WILL be an adjustment period. 2. Stuff is going to "bug you" for a long time for me its driving thru big cities and the "tornado sirens", they are exactly the same sound of the siren they used to warn us of incomming, and the 4th of July will never be fun again... just be aware... don't make a big deal of it... I just always make sure I mentally prepare myself when I have to drive to Milwaukee or when I know there is going to be fireworks, and I am ALWAYS indoors on Sat at noon when they test the sirens.. 3. CONTINUE TO WORK OUT... you will gain weight hahahhaaha when I first got back everyone wanted to fatten me up since I "lost so much weigh" hahaha I just got INTO shape and they wanted me to get out of shape... and the home cooking.. MMMMMMMMM man... fat fat fat.. but good good good... 4. If you feel like you need to talk to someone TALK TO SOMEONE... it takes a bigger man to admit that he isn't handling being back in the world than one that holds it all in and beats the crap out of a spouse or worse you have to take care of yourself... 5. DON'T let the boat monkey anywhere near you... with all that pay you have saved up he is going to be screaching at the top of his lungs... 6. ENJOY THE FISHING... it was the ticket for me getting my head back on straight... welcome back SFC Algiere
  8. my 50lb power pro laughs at fingernail clippers then farts in their general direction... I have a pair of scissors in my bag exclusively for braid. AL

  11. Yep after buying everything under the sun this winter and reading and studying tactics... tomorrow I will put it all to the test for the first time... now will I catch a fish? hahahah I HOPE SO!!! I am driving down to Illinois to go fishing with my dad and step-brother who manages a wetland so HOPEFULLY he will be able to put me on some serious fish!!! I have the two new Curados, and my one new OLD style BSF all spooled up I am SOOO ready to get them out on the water... I also have the new GLoomis/St Croix/Falcon rods in the Plano Rod holder... I have the tools/bait/desire to catch some fish... I just hope I have the skill I have the camera charging right now so HOPEFULLY if the Bass Gods smile on me I will have some pictures to post on Monday.... Even if I don't catch a thing... this is the first time I have taken leave (vacation) in quite some time so just being away is going to be relaxing, I just have to remember to leave my cell phone turned off hahahahaha AL
  12. Well in the interest of full disclosure, we showed up on the 31st of march at our faithful honey hole and there was a chain across the boat ramp and a sign that said "no more fishing, lake closed" > :'( Someone bought the property and closed it to the public. What a way to spend a morning after a 2 1/2 hour drive, filled with anticipation. We went to another lake and caught tons of fish but nothing bigger than 4-5 lbs. So I am probably the first to fall in this thread. Do I win something for losing first? ;D ehhh relax... you still have all year... just lets not try to be TOO specific next time ;D I am going down to Illinois this afternoon and WANT to be on the lake first thing in the morning... but it doesn't look good for the hometeam... but I am working on that... either way I plan on fishing tomorrow and Friday for the first time this year.. wish me luck AL
  13. *sigh* our season doesn't start till the first Saturday in May :'( I am going to take leave and go to Illinois and fish over the Easter break... WOOO HOOOOO AL
  14. very cool... wish there was a way I could thank him personally.. LOL don't see him coming to Manitowoc anytime soon now I want a BIG picture of that boat for my background! AL

  16. pictures pictures pictures!!!! I want to see pictures!!!! AL
  17. I saw a picture of it somewhere... I can't find one now... I want to see another picture of the boat I want to find more info about this guy... any fan of the Military has a fan in me... here is what I found but no Picture *sigh* California pro Mike Reynolds is one of the few anglers in the Elite Series field who has a boat design that doesn't promote a particular sponsor. Instead, Reynolds' design is a tribute to the United States armed forces. Reynolds came up with the concept himself and paid his own money to have the design applied to the boat. The wrap features the seals of the branches of the American military and a large message that reads "These Colors Don't Run". Reynolds said he chose the design to honor Americans fighting overseas. He said he wanted to show his gratitude to those soldiers, who he said make it possible for he and other anglers to pursue careers as professional fishermen. Reynolds earned the immediate respect of two servicemen at last week's event on Lake Amistad. After following Reynolds in the tournament, Mark Cory, an active duty U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant at Randolph AFB, and Greg Perkins, a former U.S. Marine, presented Reynolds with an American flag, which he carried with him onto the weigh-in stage on the final day. AL

  20. I couldn't help it.. I saw kickin bass and picked it up... even with new tube "stopper" in it I could smell the garlic... I mean WOW!!!!!! I had it in my car and after a couple of days I had to take it out... I thought the jar had sprung a leak... nope its just that strong!!!! Can't wait to use it on some senkos!!! AL
  21. very cool... that was some funny stuff... AL
  22. Look out, Ron! He's a recruiter! FlyRod hahahaha me a Recruiter? hahahahhaa noooooo they learned a long time ago NOT to ask me to do that... I can't sell how great the Army is... I tell it like it is and if that is what they want to do than fine... THEN they go and find a recruiter... I have given presentations to probably 10 classes over the past couple of years.. hahahaha I opened their eyes that its not all about jumping out of airplanes and rapelling off of cliffs (which IS fun by the way) its more to do with burning crap and doing the nasty jobs when your a private hahahahaha only thing I am recruiting is guys to take me out fishing and teach me how to catch big'uns... and I am talking about BIG BASS too for you dirty minded old men ;D AL
  23. BUY? hahahahah *gasp* you must have me confused with someone with money... my new friend.... I am married with TWO girls one 13 and the other 11... 24. Ron, Welcome to the site... and shoot me a PM I will let you know where to drop off the boat.... AL
  25. I read somewhere that Lamiglas is where G Loomis worked before he decided to make his own company... Lamiglas are some GOOD rods and If I could get them @ 50% off I would. The average price for the ones I looked at are in the 150-200 range. and *clears throat" up here in Wisconin I use Falcon Lowrider and Gander Mountain Guide Series Rods.... if Parks Falls wasn't about 5 hours from me I would probably own a St Croix.. as they invited me to come up and check out their facility ( yes I know EVERYONE is invited that emails them, but it sounded good) and they have "factory seconds" at about 50% off... AL
