hey your just like me... some days I tell myself I ain't leaving till I put at least a DINK in the boat... hahaha the guy that owns the lake I go to asks me all the time what makes me stay out there as long as I stay out there... I laugh and say its Practice Orie just Practice... that and it keeps me sane... he shakes his head... calls me crazy, but ALWAYS asks me how I did... this old fella is the ONLY guy I will keep a bass for... its his lake after all... and if he says he wants a bass for supper I will try and stay out there till I catch a keeper for him... its the least I can do... he very rarely complains about me going over 4 hours for my 5 bucks (I regularly slip him extra just for general purpose) nor does he ever charge me extra for going over my "time limit"... the reason I like this lake is because it IS small... I know I probably won't catch the state record here... but I am really getting to know it... and I can go here and practice and try new things... OK I am revigorated... I am thinking I may want to try and go tonight after work... and stay out till I whack 5 fish!!!! hahahaha AL

this is turning into an EXCELLENT read... thanks guys... hey zebco brah we need to hook up and go fishing.. that way we can encourage each other hahahaha if anyone is ever rolling thru Wisconsin gimme a yell... I would really enjoy fishing with some of y'all AL

ahhaha naaa I am not good... I am PASSIONATE.... big difference Like I tell the guys in the club... what I lack in experience I make up for in enthusiasm AND equipment.... hahahhaha but It keeps me sane and I while I wanted to learn a bit more this year while fishing with the club... I definately can't complain... I have 3 or 4 more tournaments to try and catch a fish or two to weigh in now on that day I will defiantely be posting some pictures!

this is about a 4 acre lake I normally go to... hahahaha I guess I need "more water" well until someone is silly enough to give me a boat sponsorship I guess I will just enjoy my 3 or 4 fish an outing... besides it is good exercise rowing all over that lil lake

man I tell you what... if I ever got into a situation like that I would be giggling like a little girl...

I need to be on the lake on one of those quite normal days ahahahhaa the most fish I EVER caught in one day was like 12-14

I am a soldier... that is too easy... every morning I wake up I thank my lucky stars I am home and FISHING and not back over "there" Avid I hear you my friend... but I really am not complaining.. hahahaha if I suck at fishing I CAN get better.. hahahahaha my biggest hinderance with going to other lakes right now is I don't have a boat... and the wife won't let me get one either... she is making me wait till I retire... or sell my Camaro... which AIN'T happening!!! hahahahah so its either go to this one lake where I can rent a row boat for $5 for 4 hours... or go fish off a pier... I get to fish out the back of boats during my tournaments but that isn't conducive to actually catching LOTS of fish because I am adapting to the owners style of fishing... its ALL GOOD... I just wanted to make sure I was your average Joe and all AL

now don't get me wrong... I fish because for the most part its VERY relaxing to me... when I am fishing it gives me time to think and put things into perspective and keep the demons at bay... I just want to know what is your Normal huskertko if I pulled 6-8 fish about every time I was out I would be quite happy too yesterday I spent 7-8 hours on the lake and pulled 4 out... granted it was HOT HOT HOT... 95 air and 84 water... I landed 3.. not one was legal.. but then 14 inch is legal here... I tried deep, shallow and in between... most of my fish came from 6ft or so water an it was VERY weedy.

Dennis, I feel your pain my brother... really I do... nothing is WORSE than watching the guy at the front of the boat whacking them and your skunked... now THAT will put a damper on your attitude with a QUICKNESS... or better yet... I have YET to weigh a fish in my Bass Club this year... yep NADA.. NOTHING.. ALL YEAR!!!! 3 Tournaments and I have landed TWO fish... one a northern and the other was like 1/8th short... ARGH... maybe we should start our own club... the "bass are safe fishing club"...

I have been reading about y'alls awsome days on the lake... I have heard stories of folks catching 50+ bass in one day.... now I want to know WHAT IS NORMAL????? on a NORMAL outting for me I catch only 2-4 Bass... that is it... if I catch 6-8 I consider it an AWSOME day... We aren't EVEN going to talk about tournament fishing.. this has been a VERY VERY VERY tough year :'( so do I suck or is this normal? AL

yeah he did an awful lot of whining... and talking trash about wearing a skirt was just plain disrespectful... I am sure a lot of folks will think he is jerk after that show just my .02C worth AL

I am in the Army. I have just a wee bit of stress... I wear 8 or more hats with this job because everyone but one full timer is deployed. I fish so I don't go insane. I am not sayiing I have more stress than anyone else... I am just saying I TOTALLY understand how going fishing is better then talking to a shrink. There are days where I am so ticked off I want to throttle someone and I just call home and tell the wife I am going fishing... she knows the deal so she never gives me a hard time about just calling and going fishing... AL

First off welcome this an awsome site to learn... I would check out the club first of course... but if the guys are a bunch of GOOD GUYS then I would respond with a resounding YES... this is my first year in a club.. and I have to say that 90% of the guys are really great and will bend over backwards to help and teach you... AL

I was in the paper on memorial day... but not for fishing : AL

on July 3rd I was home on leave and it was POURING rain. I couldn't go fishing so I decided I would take the bait monkey for a little walk. I went to a small local bait shop where I knew they stocked Team Supreme products. They are a local company that makes some VERY nice looking products. Anyways I LOVE swim jigs and they make some NICE ONES I have been wanting to really try out. This small store didn't have any in the color I wanted so when the clerk asked if he could help me with anything. I asked him if he had any black/blue swim jigs... he said no but the guy I needed to talk to was right there (pointing). This guy comes over and asks if there is something I needed. I said yes I was interested in some swim jigs... he gets on the phone and calls someone and next thing I knew this young man comes in carrying 8 packages of swim jigs... unfortunately they weren't black/blue and the guy was like NO PROBLEM what color and hook do you want? I was amazed at having a CHOICE in HOOKS??? he explained to me the two different kinds of hooks available and applications etc. I decided on what I wanted and back into the rain this guy goes and brings me back 8 more swim jigs in the color and hook style I wanted... turns out the younger guy is the kid to the owner of team supreme and the origional guy I talked to was the owner... all three of us stood there and talked fishing for a while and then the dad left.. the son and I talked fishing for I swear 2 hours. He gave me all sorts of pointers on fishing with tubes and swim jigs etc. He also gave me an open invitation to go fishing with him anytime I get down there... Folks THAT is how to get a loyal customer... No they didn't give me anything for free... the customer service is what got me to be a fan.. that and the products are NICE.. and at a price point worth really looking at... for example the swim jigs are $4.15 or so for TWO... that is a good price for these things!!! if you get a chance look up "team supreme" and give them a chance and I would be willing to bet that you will be just as impressed with their products as I am... I don't own a boat so I have a hard time fishing with someone from here. It would be awkward for me to say... who wants to go fishing with me.. ummm I don't have a boat so we will need to use yours .... hahahah see what I mean? I have had a couple of offers here in Wisconsin to go fishing but nothing has materialized yet... but I am looking forward to it though... That's what I'm talkin about ! I mainly use 50# power pro so my drag is pretty tight because of the slop i fish in... even when I caught my 5 lber it didn't rip drag... I know your supposed to get the fish into the boat and released ASAP but dang... I sure would like to latch onto a fish that pulls drag for me...

beings this is my first year of Tournament fishing I am STILL waiting for my first "keeper". hahahaha but in my defense... I have only fished 1 Club Tournament and 3 "Tuesday night bass club" tournaments.. I have caught a grand total of ONE Bass so far at about 12 inches :-/ 14 is the minimum in Wisconsin NOW when not fishing a tournament I would have to say the state recored before it is a "keeper". this year I have kept TWO Bass... one just barely over 3 lbs and the other bit over 2... the guy that owns the lake I go to asked me to keep a few for him... his wife had a stroke a couple of years back and she loves fried bass... so that is the ONLY time I keep bass... anything bigger than 3 1/2 pounds is going back to grow bigger anything smaller if he says he wants it.. .they will go into his livewell AL

hey SFC Hall, NICE NAME hahahahaha... what unit? and as to your question.. if you are GOOD at tinkering with stuff I would go for it.. but if you LIKE to tinker with stuff but usually end up destroying it (like me) you may want to pass on this one AL

thank to everyone for being CIVIL about this discussion.. does the heart good to see.... OK maybe "close minded" was a poor way to word it... all I mean is some folks get things stuck in their craw and that is how it is.. no matter what you say or how you try to explain it to them with reason that is the way it is... period end of conversation thats all I intended to say... and y'all are right... freedom to express ones self IS a wonderful thing... and I will defend to my death that right... while lets hope it doesn't come to that though... ANYWAYS hahahaha another thing to note... ever notice how every generation they say BACK WHEN I WAS A KID... and THIS COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET... its true think about it hahahaha its just human nature... with us its Back when I went to Basic.. hahahahahaha hope this clears a few of my comments up AL

I think some folks need to take a deep breath and then have a root beer or cream soda or something... I tell you I am the MOST over protective Father of 2 daughters you have EVER seen... TRUST ME.. I AM.. hahahaha anyways here is how I look at it... from birth to 7 the kids are young enough to see stuff like that ad and not understand it.. and if they do ask you can deflect with that is two guys being silly trying to sell something.. and leave it at that... THEN after they go to school... do you REALLY think that what is on that AD will effect them more than the kindergarten kid calling the teacher a *****? IT HAPPENS!!! How about when you go to Burger King and the 4 teenage boys are 10 feet way trying to be a "gangsta" and saying MFing this and MFing that every other word out of their mouth... THAT happens too... Do I think the ad is cool? *shrug* its advertising... its about Gulp being "natural" not about sex... SHEESH!!! Try to stop being so close minded... heck my daugher came home and was talking about BOB... and when I looked at her.. she explained to me what it means... talk about SHOCKED... she is 13... so no matter how much we shelter our kids.. I would rather them learn it at home than on the streets... so no an AD in a magazine doesn't upset me.. the other stuff does just my .02c worth AL
