  1. Oh well that sucks. I called Shimano and they said they would check for me then call me back. Haven't heard back yet. Guess worst case senario is get used to it. It is a sweet reel in any case. May have to check into the cork one. Have rcs knobs on my fuego and tierra which I really like. Thanks
  2. Just picked up a new sustain 2500fg. Does anyone know where I can get a different knob for the handle? I prefer older paddle style over the T's and bone shaped. This is my first Shimano and don't care for the knob at all. The reel is awesome thow! Can't wait till spring to give it a work out. Thanks for any help
  3. Mike built me a 7'3" MH F Jig rod. It's on a MHX blank(the cheaper ones) with micro guides and it compares to my LTA Helium rods. Alot of people compare the blank to a IMX. He can build on any blank you prefer thow. If your reel cost that much I probably wouldn't settle for any thing less than a SCV St. croix blank. I built a spinning rod on one and it is by far my favorite stick. If your looking around for a builder deffinately give him a call. He's a stand up guy and does GOOD work.
  4. Anyone fished the Ballistic yet? Found one 2.00$ difference in price from the FJ. I over research alot but when spending 150$ for a reel, I just want it to last a looonnnggg time with good maintanence and cleaning.
  5. Thanks Guys I also found a Daiwa Ballistic on Ebay for under 150$ anyone ever fish this reel. I'm thinkin the FJ might be the one. I'm not a big Pflueger fan so probably stay away from them.No offense to anyone just personal preference.
  6. Hey guys I'm lookin to get a New spinning reel after the holidays. I have a Daiwa Feugo 2000 which I LOVE!! It doesn't have to be a Daiwa as most of my other spinners are Abu's.I don't really care for the Big T handles but I do want a 2500 for my MH F tube rod. Lookin to spend between 100 and 150$ Couple I've been lookin at are Saros(which I'm not sure about the Bail wire being so thin) The FJ stradic, and the Daiwa Lexa, Revo S(which like the Stradic is white uuhhh) If any one has any suggestions or have fished these reels, please HELP!! Thanks
  7. Hey guys and gals I'm biulding a 7' M F spinning rod and was wandering if you guys could give me some advise on different reels. My budget is 200$. I've tried the Revo Premier and REALLY like it. the reel needs to be as lite as possible and smooth. I'm kind of going to biuld the rod around the reel forsay. Any suggestions appreciated!! Thanks
  8. Never fished a shimano rod. But I think I will be in the future. They seem like a function first not fashion kind of rod.Always wanted to try the Cumura now i think I'll try the Crucial. I think I read it has the same blank as Cumura.
  9. Hey guys, Have any of you tried or seen the New shimano rods? Camura,Crucial, and Compre. Seen them on TW man they look sweet! The Compre is a IM 9 blank with a new reel seat for 100$ WOW!! Just wondering if anyone has actually held one.
  10. Sorry it took so long guys was out of town. I'm not the most skilled at computers so I hope this will suffice. I'll try to resize
  11. Hey guys, Well I got my 7'3 MH F{closer to XF} micro guides custom from Mike at DVT friday. I was alittle worried about the sensativity the MHX blank would have but I pulled the trigger. I took it out yesterday and tied on a 3/8 brush jig{sieberts custom jigs awesome products) with 12# fluoro on Revo reel. The rod fits me perfectly and the sensativity is on par with ANY 250-350$ stick. This rod is SWEET!!! caught 3 Keepers on it. It was a very soft bite kind of day! If you guys are lookin for a rod that fits you perfectly with the components you want call Mike. He's a stand up guy and will take care of you! Can't wait to take it back out and slam some more bucketmouths! P.S. If anyone want's a pic of rod just ask.
  12. Favorite is Venom tubes (impreginated with Megastrike) Second would have to be BPS flippin and double dipped. Tubes are my favorite bait by far and I've tryed about all of them. These are my goto baits.
  13. Easy killer in noway shape or form did I say that the winch was the best reel for throwin light baits! He asked about the winch in particular. he didn't ask what reel was the best for throwin light baits. I use mine on my pitchin rod.And if he's fishin for Musky also it can handle that as well. was just saying how it WILL throw lighter baits didn't say it was the best. AAALLLL RRRIIIGGGHHHTTTYYYY TTHHEEENNN...
  14. You won't be dissappointed with the winch. It's smooth and reliable. I Pitch 3/16oz t-rigs with no problem. It's my favorite reel by far. Some guys prefer dual cast control. Me personaly I like to keep it simple set 2 manual brakes and spool tension as desired. You'll like that reel!!
  15. I had the same take on (Better) rods as you do PB. I fished with Abu super 7's for years. Always made fun of my buddy's saying I don't need high dollar rods to catch fish! Then one trip I pick up his old falcon rod. It was lighter more comfortable, and like said before more sensative. So after addmitting that MAYBE there is something to owning a higher end rod I found a 6'9 MH F LTA for 100$.I was blown away my first trip. You can feel the lighter strikes, that spongy feeling BIG bass always tend to have on the strike. My hook up percetage went way up as did the amount of bites I noticed that you just don't feel on 25$ rods.(Expecially in deep water) So yes there is a difference. On your trip you will fell the differece yourself
  16. Like stated already it's a personal prefference thing. I myself pay more for the rod. I finesse alot and am a contact fisherman.
  17. Thats not a bad idea . But I found out that a boat shop, 30 miles from here, is carrying St. Croix. I owned an Avid or premiere 10 years ago (paid $110). Never liked it, didn;t fit my hand. I am going there Wednesday to look at a Legend Tournament. Teaser rod. Can you give some names of people who do custom rods? Well actually this is my first custom. I have all Kistler rods other than this one. I looked at the Legends last fall at my closest outfitter. They are VERY nice the clerk was jokin around and said they have to tie them to the racks or they would float away. : haven't ever fished one thow. :-[ Call Mike at DVT (there a BR sponsor) he seems like a honest and straight forward guy and talk to him the possibilities are endless!!
  18. I would go with a custom for that price. You'll get exactly the rod your looking for and be balanced with the reel you want to use. DVT is biulding me a pitchin rod for under 250$(Can't wait till I get it) The rod will fit you and do what you want it to. Just a suggestion since you can't handle the rods in person. I'm in he same boat with the closest outfitter 2 1/2 hr. away. Good luck!!
  19. I use snaps First thing I do to all my crankbaits is take the O-ring off the tie.I use a Bass snap on my CB rod always. Quick and easy to change cranks.
  20. Thanks Guys Good stuff as always!!
  21. Thanks guys I don't use as high end of gear as most of you. Mostly kistler LTA's and Argon rods. Looking for a 7'10 pitchin stick 3/16 to 1 ounce, 10#- 20# line. Not Telescopic don't care for them at all. A rod that has nice balance with a Revo winch on it.(Favorite Reel for Pitchin) Something sensitive yet with enough backbone to pull them out of grass and brush. > I'm pretty exited about working with DVT on the project.
  22. Just wanted to know if any of you guys that own one think it is worth the extra coin?? Pro's and Cons?? Thanks
  23. On the Stark and Tuscarawas county line. Mostly fish Salt Fork, Tappan, and Atwood.
  24. Thanks dweller I very seldom pitch anything over 5/16 but was wondering if the rod could handle it. Thanks again!
  25. Just wondering if any of you guys have this stick? I'm guessing it's more like a MH? Does it have enough backside to pitch 1/2 ounce baits? Does it handle moderate cover? I don't have an outfitter close enough to check one out first hand. :'( Just wanted to get some feedback before I pull the trigger...
