  1. I have to disagree with CXX having a lot of stretch. It is such a hard and dense line it has hardly any stretch and transmits feeling amazingly well. I personally fish CXX but am not against using Izor or Hybrid although I would pick Izor over hybrid. Hybrid is good but it has more stretch and not as sensitive as a harder line. Generally a hard and dense line = the least stretch and most sensitivity possible. But it also = the worst memory possible because of its nature. Pick what is more important to you I suppose. Memory can be overcome with L&L but stretch and sensitivity can't be changed. Sometimes stretch is wanted but generally not much for me personally.
  2. Use braided line and rip it clear with a semi slack line. Throwing a half second of slack in your line really lets you rip them clean pretty easily.
  3. Sounds like a terrible idea. I fish both a ton but a chatter bait can be a bit obnoxious at time and a swim jig instead will shine. Plus a swimjig is far more weedless.
  4. Well some things came in the mail but it has nothing do with "I think i'm getting a good deal Friday" this might not apply to places like TW but for physical stores the 1st is the cheapest prices. 4 of the new injected ones since they can be had so cheaply. 3 of the old ones for backups Before anyone asks the answer is no and secondly I am not telling. Sorry to be that way but you understand.
  5. I am not sure if they can be found that cheap but I would try to find a Diawa Pluton.
  6. The drag is not tight enough probably. When putting reels back together you can hold the level wind so you can tighten up the drag without it fully assembled.
  7. The question is how to make them less snagless? You could probably try double hooks like in a hollow body frog so no point faces forward. I would imagine it should help. What jointed baits are you looking at and what is "expensive" for you?
  8. I got a ticket for hunting without a pencil... I had one when we started the day though but must of lost it. I was out with others and could of used someone else's but he was kinda being a dick and rules are rules I guess. They been killing the walleye off the rocks right now. I guess it has been one of the best years and around 6-9 seem to be the magic time. I have a few myself this year but its sketchy even for someone like me walking down there. But them old guys though it out even so. I already watched quite a few people eat it on the rocks. It can be pretty dangerous though and you could end up in the drink or have some broken bones walking on those things very easily if your not on full alert.
  9. I don't know how deep of water you sit in usually but find a way to anchor your self in a spot quickly and easily. Take a old broom handle a push pole or something with enough length and rig something up to the boat you can slide it through and jam it down in the ground on a spot. I do it all the time when i am on the jon boat and it makes a huge difference to really fish a spot easily. I use a Purdy extend a pole for painting to anchor shallow so I can anchor in like 10' and it doubles as a push pole when you need one. I wouldn't want to fish without something like that on a jon boat now. The difference it has made is really dramatic IMO.
  10. Sure if that's your plan. I would probably go here though http://www.jandh.com/okuma-cedros-coastal-spinning-rods.html sinceits half the price. I will say the lure weights on it are pretty lame though IMO. A 2 oz max is kind of a joke and not much of a step up from what you can even get from bass rods. What ever you decide to pick I wish you luck.
  11. Look up musky rods and not bass rods. You can find tons of musky spinning rods that will be able to handle even the craziest of weights. St. Croix has a mojo musky lineup and they range from 3/4-3 oz all the way to 6-12 oz.
  12. If your looking for a actual pair of boots that will last and are waterproof I would check out Matterhorns or Danners. I could blow through a pair of boots in a month and just because a boot says waterproof doesn't really mean it when you stand in actual water all day.
  13. I guess it depends on what you mean by "river" in regards to size. The smaller type ones craws straight kill some fish. If there is spots where it gets shallower and there is a bunch of rocks piled up it is probably loaded with craws there. I would bet d**n near almost every rock you flipped over would have 1 under it.
  14. Sometimes I have no idea where they come from. Even with great visibility high sun and good polarized glasses I don't see them till they pop out. There like ninjas.
  15. Well the thing with the Deps is I think I have a better feel for the head turns. Also when you use a ring from slack line or a stop to make it glide way out feel like it takes longer to get it to start gliding fully. When you first start up it doesn't glide fully because the ring isnt fully in contact yet.
  16. Yea I agree with that usually. But I still experiment to see what works for me. For example I don't like the split ring on my Deps but on S-Wavers I add a split ring.
  17. Ya I know about your 50th. Butch posted it on Facebook. Congrats man and keep sticking them!!
  18. Lighter fluid works great. It is the best for bearings and it breaks up all the oil and grease on gear or whatever. It all pretty much just falls off with no scrubbing and works far better then Alchohol.
  19. Not every knot is ideal for heavier line. Some knots like a SDJ are actually designed I guess you can say for heavier line.
  20. Sandiego Jam or Uni. I think palomar is probably the least used. Duo locks are also fine to use if you want.
  21. Yea I have been thinking about those DX rods. I mean for a $100 or whatever they are you can get into the game easy with those. Not to mention they have one that goes to like 13 or 15 oz. I will probably pick one up next year or something and give them a shot. I am also interested in trying a Tatula HD for some stuff.
  22. That is pretty vague since they can range from 1/2 oz to 13 oz.
  23. Didn't Rick Clunn only fish with 1 rod? I mean he had multiple of them but it was all the same rod. Your doing it wrong. Why only take 1 rod when throwing swimbaits? You need to replace all the rods you put away with more giant swimbait rods.
  24. If your worried about one getting behind a tree then throw on some braided line and crank down your drag. It can only go as far as your line. Plus letting a fish take drag is for the birds. That's like playing tug of war and your loosing to a little tiny fish! You gotta let them know who is boss and show them who wears the pants around here. Crank them in non stop no matter how big the fish is so they know you mean business.
