  1. I am not trying to rant of flame but the ignorance of the world around some people is slightly heart breaking. "Sure you can do whatever you want cause you enforce the laws and I have nothing to hide" People who fight for there rights are the #2 threat for terrorism behind returning vets being #1. How can that ever be?
  2. I make my leaders however long my rod is from reel to tip plus about a foot to a foot and a half. As long as the knot is not in the spool I'm fine. I also use those adjustable deals you squeeze with pliers so you can change you length on the fly.
  3. It because he had spot lights on his truck and had been seen coming out of the words and stuff all the time. He is super big into off roading and we think people had called on him saying he was poaching deer. It was just a misunderstanding. Secondly I don't get what people's problem is with others who believe in there rights and dont want them taken away. The violent sovereign citizens movement? My crane operator is a sovereign citizen and is the nicest and smartest person you would ever meet and is a great firend. Please don't bash people on a topic you are not properly informed about.
  4. That's awesome and sounds like a really great time. The kind of things that stay with you forever.
  5. My grandparents lived in AZ and I have been there a number of times. I have been to a ok number of lakes but never anything close to the feeling of that place. It's the kind of place you remember forever. I have been to the Grand Canyon more times and couldn't really tell you a thing about it. It's a snooze fest compared to lake Powell.
  6. I know a game warden does not need a warrant to search anything. They can come right in your house and search it with no warrant. It happened to a buddy of mine cause they said he was spotting deer. He was actually not but they searched his home with no warrant.
  7. I like a braided main line or any thing with really low stretch could work and a long rod. You want to use only your rod to move it so you get a good feel of what the weight is hitting. Lot of people use them to figure out bottom comp and catching fish is like a secondary thing.
  8. I see. The trouts and slammers cost a fair amount. There are quite a few excellent baits now a days that can be had for around $20 or less if you are on a budget. Also for about the price of a Triple Trout you can get a Roman Made Negotiator and I think it's a better bait. I am looking for the custom version but it is d**n near impossible to find one. That bait is definitely worth the money.
  9. I am going to have to say Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York would have a better chance at catching a double digit in both colors. The Great Lakes are to good especially Erie.
  10. I would think the carpet from a boat deck would be worse then grass. But I could be wrong. It just seems like it would remove more of the coating then grass. With that being the case many trophy fish end up flopping around on a boat deck and I am pretty sure they make it.
  11. I am curious what people's favorite body of water is and why? It doesn't even have to do with fishing at all. There are other reasons besides great fishing that can make a place special. For me it is with out question lake Powell. I have never been any where else like it and for that matter there might not be any other place like it on earth. Huge walls surrounding you all the time and hundreds and hundreds of feet of water below you. It is just a different feeling being there. After all it is one of the 7 wonders of the world. I had heard there is monsters living down there but I didn't do much fishing when I was there. Total river monster stuff with fish as big as people.
  12. My mistake yes horizontally and yes I know the difference Also there is many other excellent swim baits that can be had for a fair price. I threw a S-Waver today and was really impressed and it is fairly cheap. Decoy hydra tails are cheap and catch fish. Savage gear line through and real trouts are also making big noise lately. Spro 8" and 6" will get them. Tylures make some nice hand made baits. For a bluegill or sunfish pattern Mattlures is pretty good. Really I would buy a variety of baits. What if that day there not really eating huds well. Your stuck with 10 different huds and no bites.
  13. Put your pocket baits in a empty bag. I do it all the time. I have a BPS bag that had senkos in it that I have used for years. It is bigger and thicker then regular bags from plastics.
  14. You can't get a Weedless 6 anymore as far as I know unless someone has been holding on to it. I would scrap the Weedless rof12 for a normal 6". Really the size and rof all depends on the size of fish you have around. Where I live a 8" is a tuff bite. The 5 and 6" baits still catch 5#ers all day. Where I live a 10# bass is almost unheard of. Also Weedless huds do not fall vertically they fall nose first FYI.
  15. Killed it on C-Rig today. I was throwing braid with a copolymer leader Yo-Zuri. I generally always lift the rod vertically because we have muck bottoms or tons of weeds. I prefer to use something that will want to float or lift off the bottom. Today though was a big different since I was using a Huddleston Weedless Shad for a C-Rig bait. It worked waaaayyyyy better then I had even dreamed.
  16. Really IMO the best screw is gamakatsu. They don't have the center pin that others have and therefor have a better hold. With the pin in the middle it almost cuts out a chunk of the bait. The only issue with gamakatsu is you might have to bend the spring around the eye because they can fall off if it pulls out. I still say for overall I like the owners best but will sometimes change the spring lock.
  17. This doesn't really have to do with TW but I had a BPS gift card and ordered some things. Some of them were on back order. I was charged shipping twice at $11 each and it was 2 weeks just to get the times that were actually in stock. Never again....
  18. I also say owner. I use tube jig heads inside of my hollow bellies almost 100% of the time now though.
  19. I have really been liking buckeye mop jigs and the booyah jigs from dicks. I don't know the name I just know I got a bunch from dicks and I am thinking they were a "dicks exclusive" for some reason. Also the strike king jig with the tuna hook for deep water. I think it's a hack attack heavy cover jig.
  20. I would also say a spinning might be your best bet. I say that mostly because the best way I think to find out what is in a pond is using small baits. You also have the option of being able to toss small stuff that can catch bluegill and sunfish.
  21. I have not thrown the line through yet but from pics and what others say on swimbait forums I know it's solid. I got 1 on the 5" real trout but have not thrown any of my other real trouts yet. I have only gone out 2x this year for a few hours each time. I have high hopes for them. The detail is amazing and they have little holes in the tail to add a rattle! I can't figure out what the #'s on the tail mean though.
  22. Braid is palomar all others lines I use clinch
  23. This ^^
  24. No kidding. I need to figure out how to cut some weight on my travel bookbag. It's a bugout bag from when I was in the military a holds a insane amount of stuff. Really the soft plastics and giant swimbait type lures are what kills you. Pounds of tungsten and hooks don't help either.
  25. Zoom but I will say I have only tried half a dozen brands so maybe I might like others. With out question I caught more fish on zoom tubes last year then anything. They are thick and last a lot of fish and that's a plus. I also usually do a little quick custom work on them with a knife before I even fish them usually.
