Take a look at the Pflueger Supreme Xt in a 30 series and look at the Fenwick Eagle GT rods . Would be a good all around set-up for him . Congrats to the young man , and to you sir !!! Tight-lines !

Just wish the Patriarch had the same drag as the Supreme .

Phenix Recon 6'9' M/L/F

Looking at these 2 reels and trying to decide which way to go. Any input would be helpfull. Fish mainly for Walleye and Small Mouth in the river. Using 1/16oz to 3/16oz lead heads and 6lb Seaguar Senshi. Daiwa in the 2000 series the Patriarch in the 30 series. Unfortuneatly it's hard for me to get hands before buying due to my location. The reel will be going on a Phenix Recon 6'9" Med/Lite/Fast. Thanks

take a look at the Pflueger Arbors 7430 or at the Lew's TSS-1000 .I have 2 of the Arbor's and they are just plane out solid work horse reels,smooth,supreme drag system,lite and cast awesome and the line management is fantastic. The Lew's large arbor reels are a close second. The U.S reels have gearing and bearing issues.That's why I own 2 Arbors.

Looking at adding one of these to my arsenal of gear,just curious if any one else is useing them or what your opinions are of them.Like the fact that it is all aluminum,and has a beefy drag system,and is not overly heavy.thanks

want to see a nice looking split-grip and one that is really comfortable on the hand,look at the St.Croix Eyecon.

picked one of these up the other day,this thing is unbeleivably smooth, the drag is micro adjustable and sealed water proof,zero vibration from the rotor,infinite anti-reverse,the bail is over sized and trips smooth as butter,unique folding handle,zero play at the crank/handle bearing.the unit is all aluminum wich makes it rock solid,has a service port for lubing .from my local reel repair shop,it has the same powertrain as the Steez.
