Future Of The Curado
Why are people constantly saying the g is made with lesser materials? Malaysian 6000 series aluminum is the same as Japanese and American ... likewise NOWHERE is there any data saying they use different or lesser quality brass, polymer, or steel between e and g reels... bearings are the same as the e series, just fewer which is understandable for the lower price. for $160 ($130-$150 often) there are few reels that compare. Shimano knows what it's doing, and if they drop the ball the just fix and move on (speaking with nearly 20 years of working with Shimano and their products in cycling, snowboarding, and fishing) .

What Are Some Sure Fire Carolina Rig Baits To Throw?
Zoom speed and super speed crawls. (Traditional craw bait, good vibrations) Rage Shrimp (a bit more subtle, FLOATS and super durable) Sebile Magic Swimmers. (Big bait but subtle, great when smallies are crashing bait balls) Arkie French Fry (subtle and not very large) Smoking Rooster (bigger and obnoxious vibration) . These 5 cover everything you'll ever need when rigging.

Heavy Vs Mh Rod??
Then there's the confusion over one company's MH and how it relates to another company's. IE your MH Mojo is just about equal to a Carrot Stick, or Phenix Heavy. This is across the board for the most part. Tell us what rods you are looking at and we can help from there.

Lake Champlain Vacation
Tpost I know Gilly. He's the 2012 TBF National Champion. One of the top anglers on Champlain. You're in great hands. Mississquoi bay (goose/gander bays) will be pretty warm at that point but you may still get fish on the northern tip of Martindale reef (hump in the middle of the bay). I'd imagine a ride down to Burton, Savage and Gull Islands to fish the humps for big smallies is on the agenda (just my guess).

Biffle Buggin'
I use them like a crankbait. Throw a beaver/craw or swimbait and retrieve them so they are just ticking off the rocks pausing occasionally. Sort of "power footballing".

Drop Shot - Best Rod Around $100
If you can score a Lamiglas Excel (663 or 703) at $100 you'd be psyched. Lamiglas raised the price to like $135, but some places still have them at $100. I have a 703 and love the thing for ds-ing.

Shadalicious Vs Keitech Swimbaits?
I fish Keitechs most of the time. The one thing I like to do with hollow swimbaits (money minnow, shadalicious, bass magic) is to turn them into a line through type bait. They can be deadly when fish are just whacking at baits or you are fishing deep and still want a horizontal drop.

Want Your Opinions For A Flipping, Pitching, Small Swimbait Rod
I have the Recon 766. Last year I had a curado 201e7 and 50lb pp mounted on it. It's a great flip/pitch rod and very capable for 6" Hudds (68s too) as well as Carolina rigging. Very nice set up.

What Do You Throw When You Hit Your "panic Button?"
GP fat ika. Thick junk in shallow water to 25' on rocks they get bit.

I Think I Have A Swimbait Problem
Get a file/craft box that is deep enough for your baits to not hit the bottom when they are hung vertical. Get some threaded rods that are ~1 wider than the part of the box under the lip, get some matching nuts and washers and you're done. Use big snap/swivels as hangers. ~$20 to make. I use one without the threaded rods and have the swivels attached to the lid of the box with zip ties, no having to cram by hands into a tight space. SICK collection!

White Rod Invisible To Fish?
Shiny white surface, no glare reflecting into the water for bass to see there... Especially standing on the red/gold/green/blue/white/silver flaked boat hull.

7.1:1 Reel Good For Swimbaits?
I used a Zillion HSLA, Curado E7 and 7:1 PQ for my Hammers/Keitechs. Find a nice slow song with a slow cadance and sing it to yourself as you retrieve (I use Row Row Row Your Boat). It helps you slow down and keeps your mind somewhat clear of distractions (It's like a monk repeating a mantra). You will look weird and you will likely have social services called on you but you will catch fish.

Other Applications For A Crankbait Rod
I've had that rod. It's a great jerkbait and popper rod.

Question On Phenix Bass Recon 2 Spinning Rods
Toray and Mitsubishi are the two largest carbon composite manufactures in Japan. Toray makes a very nice highend product. It's Phenix's way of attaching a quality name to their product (which is very nice!). 36 Ton is a way of designating the quality/strength of the blank. While not apples to apples it's roughly IM-8 level. I have no idea what Phenix's special sauce is, aside from obviously being their propritary resin. http://www.toray.com/news/carbon/nr110124.html Mercedes is working with Toray...
