  1. very nice, but i dont see any disadvantages in 2 piece pole. But make sure where you put them together is snug and secure because every once in a while i wouldnt pay attention to it and when i casted the top half of my pole went with the lure and i had to reel both back in!
  2. Is it possible that you have an extra fast action and it just the upper tip? look just above the reel seat and tell us your rods specs!
  3. I didnt know they made 2 piece rods anymore unless your getting a pole from wally world. Did you find any nice 2 piece poles? because my dad does the same thing with a small tackle box but he uses a pos shakespeare
  4. Double zulu rig, buzz bait, frog early in the morning, c-rig, t-rig, spinner bait, shallow crank in the afternoon
  5. I go fishing with my dad so Normal day: Gatorade and Beef Jerky Tournament: 5 hour energies, gatorades, waters, Firehouse subs, some beers for him, cokes for me, and some granola bars. Lol we eat good on tourny days ;D
  6. When i first got my dad into fishing i got him a spool of Suffix Elite, since then (about 3 years ago ) he has never used a different line!! although i think he will be trying out P-Line cxx when one of his poles needs to be restrung.
  7. A revo stx 7.1:1 paired up with a Dobyns 703c ( 7' MH/F ) It should be a great all around bottom contact rod for you ! ;D that will put you at about 420 if your willing to spend 20 extra green-backs !
  8. I think he sold his soul to the devil ;D ;D ... or he drinks unicorn blood, either one!
  9. Most of the rods here are great choices, i would reccomend goin to bass pro shops and grab a bunch of rods that you like ( i reccomend 7' MH/F ) and ask a sales rep to put reels on them and see how they feel in your hand. I also tap something very lightly with the rods to see how sensitive they are 8-)
  10. My favorite hook set happened when i was about 8. I was wacky riggin a little french fry on a cheap lightning rod and when i swung away i hit my dad and snapped my pole. So i persisted to bring him in buy pulling on the line really hard. That my first fish bigger than my forarm at the time and from that point on i was "hooked" on bass fishing. Pun intended!
  11. look at the St.Croix Avid series spinning rods. the 6'9" ML/XF should do the job for you. i believe it is rated for 1/8 - 1/2 oz. which is extremely versatile. And from what i hear the Avid has some very nice sensitivity you wont regret.
  12. OK, so your uncle will give you two PQ's. That doesn't answer the question :-? it doesnt answer the original question but he wanted to know what reels i will be using.
  13. Just curious, what reels are you using? a cheap pos reel does not look good on an expensive rod my uncle said if i want he has 2 PQ's he doesn't use because he hates baitcasters. (they were his first ). but ya i love his PQ's ;D PQ are awesome reels thats all pro Edwin Evers uses yep ;D
  14. Awhhh :'( was it you? i figured they would be sold before i could get any moneyy.. i sent him a PM asking him maybe to reserve them for me.

  16. I just want to think long and hard about it, not jump on an impulse decision on my birthday. thats why i put up this thread so early, so i can absorb all the info i can!
  17. I'm a big fan of the uni knot for all lines, including braid!
  18. thanks for the info! i'm much more keen on buying a rod made in mexico compared to China. QC is SO much higher!
  19. I thought Triumphs were made for st.croix, rather than made by st.croix in china. And mojo's were Mexican, and Premiers American. but who knows i could be wrong! And thanks for the offer!! but i live in Virginia... so ya. haha
  20. If the water is pretty stained, i always go to braided lines, but with clear water fluoro is probably your best bet. but as all around i use braid for my main line and fluorocarbon as my leader (connected by a swivel). thats the best IMO
  21. so it would be in my best interest to get 2-3 triumphs instead of 1 premier?
  22. recently i was flipping through my BPS catalog, and realized there are ALOT of different kinds of fluorocarbon, Why do manufactures make 4 of the same thing? i know there are subtle differences, but for example whats the difference between Seagur Red Label, InvisX, and AbrazX? help? :-/
  23. IMO i prefer split grips, but the style of grip will not keep me from buying one rod over another. I prefer split grips because: ~they're a little tad lighter, ~when i cast i feel more of a catapult effect ~they look pretty B.A ~And correct me if im wrong, less cork = more rod vibration right? so more sensitivity? i know rod manufacturers are claiming that.
