Yup, the spool is about the size of a pancake.

It creates a bit of noise and makes it a little rougher. Is it really needed ? I dont think so. Most modern reels (All my other reels) dont have them, and I dont think a bass will tax my gear enough that I will need it.

Yeah, I feel blessed my 50e is almost silent and smooth as grease on glass. Now it's even better with the anti-reverse pawl out.

Just got it back together. Here's some of the data I collected using a stop-watch, obviously not exact, but the results tell the tale. All these tests were done with zero brakes and just enough spool tension to keep the spool from any horizontal movement. Edit: Also the tests were done without line on the spool, thus less mass and it starts/stops faster. I put 6# flouro on it afterwards and that ish goes forever. Free spool stock (In seconds): 7.4 7.3 7.8 7.4 ~7.475 Free spool cleaned and lubed (In seconds): 10.3 10.5 10.0 11.1 ~10.475 3 seconds gained in free spool, which it decent IMO. Also, If you had the occasional Curado problem of turning the handle and feeling a little harder to turn, then fully engage the spool, I put just a bit of grease on the pinion gear, (Where it grabs the spool pin) and has solved the problem after 50 or so trys, didn't happen once.

Yeah, I took it out and just put it in the spare weights bag for later use if needed. So far, it feels noticeably smoother without it in there when free reeling, however it won't affect the casting distance.

Tore this baby open and am waiting for the bearing to finish their bathies. Just thought I would let you know this thing stock the gears and drag were pretty nasty new. Gave em a nice clean, will be great when I get em back in! Nice and polished. Also, debating whether to use the shimano oil, or Reel Butter, hmmm. I'll try shimano's oil. Also was a little disappointed with all the plastic on the inside. Price you pay for weight savings I guess. Alot of grease in standard oil places too. I'd highly reccommend a professional clean and lube, it a little sluggish out of box, but then got alot better after 20 or so crank and free spools. I'll give an update once it's back together to compare performance.

Last year

The Costas are worth the extra cash, trust me. I have a pair of permits with the 580G Green mirror and it is flawless. I got the free pair of WileyX's when I bout an ABU, but I didn't care for them. The polarization isn't as great, can't even compare, and because they are poly-carbonate lenses they scratched pretty easily. Granted I did wear them everywhere, not just when fishing. The one good think about WIleys I will say is, the lenses are darn near indestructible. They can take one hell of a beating. My costas have never scratched, and have never shattered. And the vision is SUPERB. Just make sure you try them on before you buy, because each frame style's size runs different. And the costas will be a bit heavier because of the glass lenses. I also recommend buying on eBay. That's what I did, and got them for about 150. Just make sure they come with the original box and paperwork.

I was going to give my Spool bearing on my Tierra nice bath and flush, but when I got them off the spool and out of the sideplate I couldn't get those little clips out to take the shield off. I used a super small needle but it didn't work, which usually does for my other reel, and eventually the needle bent from trying too hard. I'm assuming flushing with the shields on is not an option, because the stuff would never get out. But it seems like they're stuck in there for good. Any easier way to get them out?!

2 years isn't exactly ages, and they did win the wildcard-game, but that isn't exactly bragging material. Nick Satan will not come to the Cowboys because he won't have any control thanks to Jerry. Romo had a career best year, his stats were great. And really he, himself, only lost two games. Too bad football season has a big offseason... I'm ready for next year!

Hi, I'm Collin and I'm a Cowboys fan. (Hi Collin) I've been a cowboys fan since I was born, and it still sucks to be one. Anyways, it seems the Giants have a new Cowboys Killer, and its Cruz. I thought we might have actually been able to make a comeback in the fourth, and maybe get it tied up and get into OT, but on that 3 & 7 of course Eli escapes a should've been sack to hit Cruz for a idc how many yard pass. Point is, that was the game for us. Th good news is, there is always next year. Hopefully in the offseason the defense may actually have a little knowledge on Ryan's scheme and not look like they don't know what's going on (they Probably dont). With the lockout, i think he may have been trying to get a little much from his players. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE draft some corners, safetys, and some more ILB's(excluding Lee and that other new guy, forget his name) Keith Brooking and Brady James are washed up, can't cover, can't tackle, and are really too slow. Ware did well this season, especially for having almost no help on the other side of the ball from Spencer, Hatcher even did almost as good as Spencer. Ratliff has done decent this year as well. Over all though I think our secondary is just too old. We need some younger, faster, guys at corner and some people who can tackle. I wish T-New could go but to cut him it would really hurt our cap too much. He'll probably be around next year sadly. And you know what? I wouldn't even say Romo blew this game. Yeah, he had a pick but it really falls on the defence. He had a pretty good game, even with his right hand really swollen. Also, I must say the cowboys had opportunites to get back into the game but BLEW them. I punt return fumbled and ball falls on it, but it pops out? COME ONE MAN!!! You gotta hold onto those. And then the Cowboys force a fumble, but of course they had a neutral zone infraction which, took it away. From your review, what would you suggest as the best primary use for it due to it's given characteristics? How would you compare this line to Sufix Seige or Yo-Zuri hybrid? Sensitivity, memory, etc?

It appears they wanted to create a line that's in between always breaking(CX) and will never break, and has a boat load of memory(CXX). Seems like it would be just like a premium mono.

i'm not very impressed. Not alot of new stuff to look at, and I feel as Bass Pro comes out with more house brand stuff the more they get rid of Name Brand products.

Casting

When I cast it's a bit noisy, so I flushed them and then put a drop of Reel Butter in, but the same noise is there. i thought maybe its a little under-lubed, maybe my drops were small. So I added an extra small drop and the noise is still there. It isn't a noise that makes me think on bearings dying, but it isn't the nice whirrrrrr I'm used to hearing. It's a Daiwa Fuego if it helps. Also, how much would a new pair cost? Would it be worth it to upgrade to Orange Seals?

Monster Curado ? Please elaborate.

If only I had an extra 150 laying around...
