  1. I *** you and all your Daiwas...
  2. I've never had a break off using the Uni knot, and it only takes about 5 seconds to tie.
  3. Hahahaha, TW isn't just a warehouse, its a... friend. I was going to just save it and wait for a rod that I really want, but 115 is all I have to buy something fishing related for the next ~5 months, where all my money will end up going to Lacrosse (League fees, bleh) and insurance, and other stuff I have to take care of. So I can't exactly just save it up. And I only really want need 2 more rods anyway before next year. I think I might go with the 6'7" MH/XF for spinnerbaits, because they will work well for me this spring. I wont be doing any serious pitching or punching until 6 months from now, and by then i'll have a disposable income, so I can buy a serious flippin stick then. I really want to try out a Dobyns Champion or Extreme, or other high dollar rod. After those two, i see no more need for anymore rods.
  4. What type of line is that?
  5. Powell Makes a 6'9" H/F Endurance rod.
  6. Well i'm getting a great deal on 1 of 3 rods from a friend, and wanted to know what you guys think would best fit my arsenal. I currently have a St.Croix Avid 7'MH/F; Powell Max 6'8" M/XF and a BPS MH/XF, but ignore it's rating, it fishes nothing like it. It makes a very nice crankbait rod for uses, mostly shallow cranks. I can add a Powell Edurance for a great price and have to choose from these three. 6'7" H/XF 12-20 Lb 1/4-1 ounce rating; 6'7" MH/XF 10-17lb 1/4-3/4 ounce rating; or 6'9" H/F 12-20 lb 1/4-1 ounce rating. RIght now I use my Avid for jigs/plastics/spinnerbaits and my Powell for light plastics and jerkbaits, while my BPS gets the call for shallow cranks and lipless cranks. I fish the Potomac alot and it gets quite weedy in the summer. I was thinking the 6'9" for flippin/pitching/puching but am worried it may be a bit too short and not very sure on the fast tip instead of extra fast. I'm also thinking maybe the 6'7" MH/XF for a good spinnerbait (1/4-3/4ounce weight) rod, but I dont fish them as much as jigs or plastics, they're my third most used bait. But then again for flippin/pitching/puntching, do I sacrifice more length for a XF tip? These are the only 3 I have to choose from, so please don't suggest me another rod. And the deal is just to good to wait for something else. Thanks! I'm also open to moving techniques to different rods if it plays out right with the new rod.
  7. Option 2 or 3 for sure. I'm going to use mine for light t-rigs and jerkbaits.
  8. I plan on using mine for light t-rigs, some jerkbaits, and some other smaller lures.
  9. Thanks for getting the 50 for me!
  10. My dad took off work for that Saturday. I'll be there 8)
  11. Magentic brakes apply in my opinion a lighter braking throughout the whole cast, while centrifugal brakes apply braking at the highest speeds of the spool. My personal favorite is Daiwa's Magforce braking. It's a centrifugal magnetic brake. The faster the spool spins the more a rotor cup goes into the brake drum, and applies brakes, but at the lower speeds, there is no braking.
  12. Their braid is decent, and their mono is proven to be just plain regular mono. However, I think their fluorocarbon is absolute trash. Also, if your looking for a good mono look no further than Sufix Seige. It's one of the most popular mono's on this board for good reason.
  13. More or less 1/8 ounce weight with a smaller plastic or weightless trick worms.
  14. It's between a pretty used SOL, and a BNIB 51 right now for the same price. I'm leaning a little more to the Curado just because I can get it BNIB. But then again I want the SOL, just not as used. I'm waffling harder than Brett Favre right now. Regardless of which one I get It will get completely taken down and cleaned, lubed, bearings flushed etc. I think I might go with the 51 and then wait for a better condition SOL. I also can't decide whether or not I want to spend an extra 30$ to get a 50 instead of a 51. I've never used a lefty caster and am a little hesitant if I will like it or not for finesse fishing.
  15. So how does the mag-v compare to mag-z ?
  16. How so ? Do you just give the rod a little pop at the tip? I think I know what your talking about, how is the Mag-V better than a 6-pin in that situation?
  17. Thanks J. What about after a clean and lube, including a flush and relube of bearings?
  18. When it comes to the lighter lures, about 1/4 ounce total, which will do better?
  19. New rods for Powell to come out in January, right now we know nothing but they're teasing us on their website. Speculation has it they will be $70-80 sticks and there will be 1 spinning and 3 casting models. Anyone else know anything?
  20. Did you buy the whole sale section? LOL
  21. Yes, but it seems everybody is owned by somebody else.
  22. Went with the Avid, they didn't bother having any SHIMANO over the older Convergence, So picked up a 7' MH/F and so far i'm impressed. Balance is pretty decent with my Fuego so it should be very nice with a zillion.
  23. Just wondering if anyone has used both, and which one they like better. I had an older Crucial so i know how awesome they were, but have never owned an Avid. So let me know before tomorrow at Gander Mountain !
