  1. I think the pitching action may be a little easier, and obviously remove backlashes, but I prefer casting because as soon as my jig hits the water, the little movement in my reel handle engages the spool, where as on spinning I have to close the bail then put my hand on the handle, although thats merely personal preference.
  2. To decide what would be more worth while, It would help to know what setups you already have in your boat, and what you throw more often.
  3. For basic jigs 1/4-3/4 oz I'd get the MH. I dont think the 4" less will really affect your pitching, and your quite unique for pitching with spinning gear. Most people use casting for flipiing/pitching.
  4. I'd go for a MH just to be on a safer side. What weights will you be throwing? I also prefer a sorta Mod-Fast-ish action for pitching. I prefer this because I think I get longer pitches, softer entries (lower flight profile), and a better hook up ratio with braid.
  5. If you are not comfortable taking your reel apart, I highly recommend you send it in. We have some site sponsors where it should be relatively inexpensive. And to buy new gears, (for example on a Curado) you can call shimano and im sure they could order them for you. If you want to do it yourself though, I'd reccomend buying an extremely cheap baitcaster (wally world Special) and taking that apart first. You'll also want to take plenty of pics disassembling the reel, incase you forget how to put it back together. Im sure if Francho tunes into this thread he can give you better advice, and show you his Cup Cake Reel Parts Holder.
  6. Have any room for a 15 year old son?
  7. The PQ's are great for only 100 Bones, and a steal when they go on sale for about 70. If you want a higher end reel though, you can order a left .Shimano Curado, buy different gears, and swap/
  8. That Falcon box is nothing to scoff at, Its a great box and I love mine for hooks and weights, especially loving the specialized compartments!
  9. I've always used the length of my rod for all my leaders.
  10. The only time we recited the pledge was in K-5th grade, just so we knew it. Now we just stand and put our right hand over our heart. However if the student does not want to recite or stand there with his hand over their heart, he has to pay respect for those who respect the flag. I don't think anywhere its mandatory to say the pledge though.
  11. I think I might run for President to turn America back into the good ol' US of A
  12. I learned something new today then, the only place to sell um round these parts is BPS 8-)
  13. I prefer the 7.1 because you can always reel slower. I also agree on the MH/XF, but if you cant find one you like or in your price range A MH/F will work too.
  14. Where can you buy BPS reels locally, that's not Bass Pro? :-?
  15. LOL , my fav so far was the jack and coke one ;D
  16. If you shore fish, and live near Stafford , VA, I can put you on an awesome place to fish when they're spawning. PM me if you want.
  17. Hey David, I actually have No idea how to rig those hooks with a swimbait without tearing it up getting that huge weight in. I think i'm doing it wrong :-X
  18. I dont think CXX is fluoro-coated, I think its just a co-polymer. All co-poly means is that its made of more than one polymer, not neccesarily Fluoro. However P-line fluoroclear and Yo-Zuri Hybrid I believe it says fluoro coated on the package/spool.
  19. When fishing tournaments, people concentrate on that wicked handle, not fishing. Thus giving you an advantage. 8-) Looks cool though! not sire I would fish one though unless I happen to get a free one :
  20. I like Seagaur InvizX and AbrazX, but BPS is good for a little less. I want to try P-Lines fluoro.

  22. You must be throwing some huge baits, because when working topwater (any water for that matter) my rod tip is always straight, I never have to exaggerate.
  23. I thought CL was Duralumina PQ - Brass PQT - brass?
  24. Alot of people prefer a short, M/XF rod for topwater and jerks, I know I do. And it definately not wimpy, The M/XF is a go-to power/action for me.
  25. If it was just plastics and such, braid all the way. But you mentioned topwater/jerkbaits, so I would put some good fluoro on. I hate braid with anything treble hooked.
