  1. NBR, i need to remember your comment. I like. The fishing's great every day. The catching may not be. So, so true.
  2. Redline, that qualifies as cruel and unusual. After having a heart attack, anything that looks as good as that is verboten. I can feel my stints twitching. ;D It looks freakin awesome. Have an extra serving for me.
  3. wouldn't that be a D? ;D That would be an E I sometimes go down a half step. Love that diminished fifth interval. I like to give them something they haven't heard much. ;D ;D
  4. yak, yak, yak, that's about all we get out of you. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I quack myself up.
  5. It should be tuned to a fourth below A440. (the A above middle C)
  6. Now that all the questions about line; that he did not ask, have been addressed: I'd suggest that you get your hands on one before buying. I have two of that exact model. Bought both when St Croix changed blanks and everybody clearanced "em out. I fished with one for about two hours, and gave them both to my wife. I couldn't stand the grip. It is way too small. Gave me hand cramps trying to hang on to it. She likes them just fine, but her hands are about half the size of mine. As far as the action goes, it's a good rod for plastics. Very sensitive, a soft tip, and nice backbone. You will like it for any contact fishing, as long as the small grip doesn't bother you.
  7. I wanna see that! A big ol' tarpon would tow you and your yak to Cuba. ;D ;D ;D And back, if you're lucky.

  9. For me, 90 yards or so is just about right.
  10. One of my favorite creature type baits. I have 6 or 7 bags of them still, and will lament their passing.
  11. all the above. Over the years, I've had a lot more great fishing days in the fall than any other time. When I go out, pitch out a jig and it bounces off the water, I know it's too late in the year.
  12. a question for DVT, RM, or J Francho, or anybody else who'd like way in on it. Regarding the levelwind worm gear, I know not to use grease. This being the gear by far the most likely to pick up grit, sand or some other foreign material. Has anybody tried one of those spray-on , let it dry type of lubricants for this application? It would seem, at first glance, to be a natural choice. A dry worm gear would surely pick up a lot less crud and corruption than a wetted one.
  13. Nate, you owe me a screen and keyboard cleaning. ;D Since these things are aimed at the military market, I can't see them being much more than $150K each.
  14. For any other than the spool bearings, any decent clean oil will be fine. DVT gave you the key tip. Make sure they're clean before lubing any parts. For spool bearings, you first need to answer this question. How often do you want to service your reels? Or, have them serviced? If you answered once per year, then Rocket Fuel, Ardent Bearing Oil, Daiwa Red, or any of the recently popular low viscosity oils, are really not for you. They simply will not last for a full season of fishing. Shimano oil will last a season. The Daiwa oil that comes in what looks like a mini toothpast tube will last a season.
  15. Gotta agree with you senko_77. Spots are awesome. One of the pits at Trophy Country has some nice spots. I got one three years ago that went almost 7. I thought I had a record LM. Helluva fight on ten pound test line.
  16. If it fits your budget, I highly recommend Tim "Hotdawg" Curtis, as a guide. I fished several days with him on the White River, and it would be hard to find a better guide. He also guides on Bull Shoals.

I done the best with the Rooster on a jighead. Evo Shake2 head, with the bait run right on the hook shank, the hook totally exposed. Fin-Tech Skip Jig, only one way to rig this. I fish Roosters T-rigged and weightless too, but the jighead seems to outfish all other methods. For me anyway. great bait. All three thumbs up, Big-O
  18. This should be fun
  19. Amen, brother, Amen
  20. Good advice so far. I'll add one more piece. Forget about the "lube port". Don't use it. Think about it. What earthly good does it do to add new, clean lube over the top of old dirty lube? As far as I'm concerned, a lube port is just one more place for contaminants to enter. If I had a reel with a lube port, I'd glue it shut.
  21. This reminds me of typical reel choice thread. Somebody asks for advice on two reels. Both in the same price range. He gets 20 replies, and 12 of them say to get a fecking Shimano that costs two to three times the price.
  22. I've been using Ultra Steel weights for several years. Started using them because I got tired of buying all new weights every year. Seemed like every lead weight I picked out of my terminal tackle box had the end pinched shut. Steel solved that problem. I've never noticed the larger size having any adverse effects. I do get a better feel, compared to lead. About the same as tungsten. I've bought a few tungsten weights just to see if they're all that. I'll stick with the steel weights, and spend the extra cash on something more significant than a weight.
  23. I've fished, briefly, with that Legend Elite rod of RW's. It is schweeeet. What he didn't tell you is that he has those "Marlon Brando" reels on his spinning rods. If I had a couple of those gems, I'd no doubt use "em more often. Awesome reels.
